    3. Gladys Leona Myers Buck, Hermitage, formerly of Rouseville Robert Burton Fisher, Erie, formerly of 62 Pearl Ave., Oil City Genevieve H. Goodman, 1040 Chestnut St., Franklin Kathleen E. Morrison, Ballston Spa, N.Y., formerly of Van Orville Raymond 'Windy" Orton, Parker Gladys Leona Myers Buck, 90, a resident of John XXIII Home, Hermitage, formerly of Rouseville, died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in Sharon Regional Health System, Sharon, after an extended illness. Born Feb. 23, 1914, in Sharpsville, she was the daughter of Charles Collins Myers and Cora Luella Kilgore Myers. She attended the Sharpsville and Sharon area schools. Mrs. Buck had been a resident of Rouseville since 1947 and had worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Rouseville as a window clerk for 15 years, retiring Feb. 1, 1979. She was a member of the Rouseville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the Rouseville United Methodist Women where she held every office, some of them more than once. Mrs. Buck also was a member of the Rouseville Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting. Mrs. Buck was married in the Mercer United Methodist Church Oct. 26, 1939, to John Lee Buck Jr., who died Aug. 25, 1958. They were married by the Rev. John L. Buck Sr. Surviving are the following nieces, Beverly Liston and husband, Richard, with whom she made her home, and Sandra McLean, all of Hermitage, Judy Dout and husband, John, of Sharpsville, Bonnie McLean May of Sharon, Mary Agnes Myers of California and Mildred Knecht of Ohio; and the following nephews, Jon Carly and wife, Sandra, of Farrell, James McLean and wife, Tracy, of Greenville, William McLean and wife, Karen, of Wisconsin, Daniel Myers of Hubbard, Ohio, and Phillip Myers of California. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Buck was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel B. Carly, Laura McLean and an infant, Cora Myers; and four brothers, Hugh L. Myers, Mead Myers, John C. Myers and Raymond Myers. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday in the John Flynn Funeral Home Chapel, 2630 E. State St., Hermitage. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. John C. Boor of the Rouseville United Methodist Church, officiating. Robert Burton Fisher, 82, a resident of Soldiers & Sailors Home, Erie, formerly of 62 Pearl Ave., Oil City, died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in the Erie facility after an extended illness. Born Aug. 11, 1921, in Oil City, he was the son of Burton and Florence R. Pleger Fisher. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles) during World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Fisher had worked at Bouquin's, Strickland Construction and later worked for the City of Oil City. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Holy Name Society of the church. Mr. Fisher was married in St. Joseph Church, Lucinda, May 21, 1946, to Leona Dechant, who survives. Also surviving are the following children: Mary Elizabeth Yonkers and husband, David, of Fairview, Carol Ann Reichart and husband, Ted, of Erie, Irene L. Benoit and husband, George, of Frederick, Md., and Robert E. Fisher of Tulia, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also is survived by one sister, Wanda C. Fisher of California; and a special friend, Tom Wiesen of Erie. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol Carlon, Phyllis Fry and Pat Giegold; and a daughter-in-law, Janice B. Fisher. Goodman, 99, of 1040 Chestnut St., Franklin, died at 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born Sept. 24, 1904, in Franklin, she was the daughter of William R. and Effa Heasley Hanna. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mrs. Goodman had worked as a clerk for the Lamberton Bank, Norwich Pharmacy in Norwich, N.Y., and for Raymond's, White's and Jordan Marsh Department stores in Boston. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, D.A.R., Franklin Women's Club and the Historic Franklin Preservation Association. For several years, Mrs. Goodman volunteered in the children's department of the Franklin Public Library. She was married in Port Charlotte, Fla., July 24, 1926, to Leo H. Goodman, who died Oct. 16, 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Jean Eriksen of Midway Park, N.C.; a son, Richard Goodman of Franklin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Goodman was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Huston; two brothers, Seth and Phillip Hanna; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the First United Methodist Church, 1100 Liberty St., with the Rev. James Shaver, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Graham Cemetery. Kathleen E. Morrison, 53, of Red Coach Trail, Ballston Spa, N.Y., formerly of Van, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at her home following a long illness. Born July 21, 1951, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Clair Exley Sr. and Katherine Wellsby Exley. Mrs. Morrison was a 1969 graduate of Cranberry High School. She received her licensed practical nurse license from the Oil City Hospital and worked for several years as an LPN. Mrs. Morrison was married Sept. 4, 1971, to former Oil City resident, William A. Morrison, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Joshua Morrison and wife, Tracey, of Ballston Spa, N.Y, and Crystal Kasdin and husband, Chad, of Chicago, Ill.; and three grandsons, Nathan, Nicholas and A.J. Morrison. She also is survived by her parents, Clair and Katherine Exley of Rockland; four brothers and their wives, Clair Jr. and Marilyn Exley, William and Linda Exley and Mark and Bonnie Exley, all of Rockland, and Gregory and Claire Exley of Queensland, Australia; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, in the Saratoga Abundant Life Church, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. There also will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Rockland United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or to the American Cancer Society. Orville Raymond "Windy" Orton, 72, of Parker, died at 11:53 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin, following an extended illness. Born July 26, 1932, in Allegheny Township, Butler County, he was the son of Orville D. and Violet Johns Orton. Mr. Orton graduated in 1950 from the former Parker High School. He then served as a member of the U.S. Army from Feb. 24, 1953, to Feb. 10, 1955, with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal. Mr. Orton was employed by the former Glass Containers Corp. of Parker for more than 17 years until ill health forced his early retirement. He was a life member of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department, having served the department for more than 50 years, many of those years as an active fire policeman. He assisted with the fire company's Mother's Day dinners always in the kitchen on dish washing duty as long as health permitted. Mr. Orton attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Six Points and for many years was secretary of the Allegheny Cemetery Association of Allegheny Township. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially was a fan of driver Bill Elliott. In addition to racing, he was well-known for his patience in woodcutting to make firewood for family and friends. Mr. Orton was married March 27, 1958, to Ramona O'Neil, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Tammy Thompson and husband, Robert, of Parker; one son, Bradley R. Orton and wife, Diane, of Parker; and four grandchildren, Amber Barger and husband, Cory, of Butler, Brittany Thompson and Andrew and Eric Orton, all of Parker. He also is survived by two sisters, Dorothy J. Hansotte of Butler and Opal Steff of Emlenton; one brother, Samuel M. Orton and wife, Lois, of Emlenton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Allen Elsworth “Grouse” Foulds, 82, of Oil City, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie. Born in Tionesta, he was a son of the late George Alan and Carrie L. Albaugh Foulds. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 29, 1942, to Oct. 28, 1945, in the European Theatre of Operations as a private first class, medium tank crewman. Mr. Foulds worked as a crane operator for Oil Well Supply for 27 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Local Steelworkers Union No. 2016 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball games and spending time with his family and friends. He was married July 27, 1946, in Siverly to Grace E. Milford, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Shirley Bimber and her husband, Terry, of Oil City, and Kay Cotherman and her husband, John, of Cooperstown; and two sons, David Foulds and his wife, Brenda, and Larry Foulds, all of Oil City. Survivors also include nine grandchildren, Tammi Reeher and her husband, Jody, of Cooperstown, Dottie Downing and her husband, Patrick, of Polk, Scott Cotherman and his wife, Amy, of Front Royal, Va., Jamie Kase and her husband, Robbie, of Oil City, Shannan Foulds of Franklin, Tara Foulds of Cranberry, Casandra Foulds of Cranberry, Benjamin Lockhart of Oil City and Donald Bickel of Oil City. Elmer Louis Hammerschmidt, 79, of 343 McConahy Road, Volant, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. Born March 11, 1925, in New Castle, he was the son of Christian John and Mary L. Haug Hammerschmidt. He was a 1942 graduate of Plain Grove High School. Mr. Hammerschmidt was a self-employed farmer, was retired from Armco of Butler and was a substitute rural mail carrier. He was a member of the Hillcrest PCA Presbyterian Church of Volant. Mr. Hammerschmidt’s interests were his family and gardening. He was married Oct. 28, 1944, to Esther C. Dight, who survives. Also surviving are five sons and their spouses, John L. and Trudy Hammerschmidt of Oil City, James A. and Shirley Hammerschmidt of Greenville, Jerry D. and Virginia Hammerschmidt of Volant, Jeff O. and Deborah Hammerschmidt of New Castle and Joel E. and Sonya Hammerschmidt of Slippery Rock; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Albert Hammerschmidt and wife, Helen, of Volant and David Hammerschmidt of Allentown; and two sisters, Donna Hetrick of Cleveland, Ohio, and Ann Sumner and husband, David, of New Castle. Born Sept. 24, 1967, in Grove City, she was the daughter of Sandra Campbell Downs McFeaters and the late Fredrick C. Downs. She was a graduate of LaSalle High School, Buffalo, N.Y., and later graduated from the Buffalo Culinary Arts School in Buffalo. Mrs. Hindman was the owner-operator of Granny Haus Pizza Shop at Branchton Square, near Slippery Rock. She was a member of the Boyers United Methodist Church and was a social member of the Ellwood City VFW. Mrs. Hindman enjoyed reading, growing and arranging flowers and being around children. Surviving are her husband, Timothy J. Hindman; one son, David John Hindman at home; one stepson, Joshua James Hindman of Clintonville; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Arnold R. “Arnie” Kriebel, 69, of 932 Buffalo St., Franklin, died at 5:24 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born Sept. 27, 1934, in Callensburg, he was the son of Bernard and Tressa Murry Kriebel. He served in the Army Reserves. Mr. Kriebel retired in 1997 after serving more than 30 years as a laborer for the Street Department for the City of Franklin. He was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and bowled on the Monday and Friday Night Industrial Leagues. Mr. Kriebel also enjoyed fishing and puzzles. He was married Feb. 25, 1964, to Mary A. Hogue, who died Nov. 15, 2000. Surviving are two children, David R. Kriebel at home and Cindy McFadden and husband, Michael, of Oil City. He also is survived by two brothers and their wives, Joe and Mary Ann Kriebel of Brookville and Philip and Betty Kriebel of Butler; and four sisters, Jean Lindsey and husband, Buster, of Emlenton, Helen Nunamaker and husband, Richard, of Cochranton, Carol Ireland and husband, Larry, of Rimersburg and Charlene Hogue of Clarion. Marshall, 48, of 303 Bissell Ave., Oil City, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in her home. Born June 13, 1956, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Jack and Barbara Cotton Marshall. She was a 1974 graduate of Oil City High School and had lived in the Oil City area all of her life. She had worked for a number of years as a diagnostic technician at Oil City Hospital. She later worked at Oil City Chemical and Kwik Fill. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed playing bingo. Surviving are one son, William Zacherl of Oil City; two daughters, Rachael Zacherl and Krista Zacherl, both of Oil City; and two grandchildren, Elijah Zacherl and Hannah Zacherl of Strattanville. She also is survived by three sisters, Patricia Harn of East Palestine, Pa., Charlene Rapp of Clearwater, Fla., and Christina Hudak of Oil City; one brother, Jeffrey Marshall of Oil City; one aunt; one uncle, numerous nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Frank Ahrens of Oil City. John Edward Moyar, 82, of Falls Church, Va., died Monday, July 19, 2004, at his residence. Born May 13, 1922, in Rouseville, he was the son of Eugene S. and Lottie Osborne Moyar. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a yeoman second class aboard the USS Eldorado and witnessed the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. After his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Moyar worked and retired from the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and lived around the surrounding area until his death. Mr. Moyar enjoyed life and spending time with his family and friends. He was a strong Episcopalian by faith and was said to be one of the youngest men ever named lay reader at Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City. Mr. Moyar was a member of the American Legion of Arlington, Va., Fraternal Lodge No. 483 in Rouseville, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Valley of Washington, Orient of District of Columbia, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three sisters, Charlotte G. Farren of Williamstown, W.Va., Maryetta J. Snow and husband of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Helen P. Foster of Steubenville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, James Foster. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Rynd Farm Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Rynd Farm Cemetery with Father Alan Coudriet, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Oil City, officiating. Calvin Elmer Paugh, 78, of Tionesta, formerly of Sharon, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in the VA Medical Center, Erie. Born July 31, 1926, in Vindex, Md., he was the son of Ira H. and Ethel May Paugh. Mr. Paugh was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved the Tionesta area and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Paugh was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Paugh. Surviving are two brothers, Frank Paugh of South Carolina and Claude Paugh and wife, Karen, of Wheatland; four nephews; one niece; and his long time companion, Minnie Engel of Tionesta. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Paugh was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Paugh, Ira Paugh and Milford Paugh; one sister, Sadie Fike; and one half sister, Dora Tasker. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Faith Community Church in Enterprise. Interment will be private. The Norman J. Porter, 83, of 4198 Mercer St., Sandy Lake, died at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, after a brief illness. Born Aug. 4, 1921, in Chapmanville, he was the son of Guy H. and Ariel L. Lesher Porter. Mr. Porter attended the former Sandy Creek High School, Venango County. He served two years in the Civil Conservation Corps and then entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Mr. Porter retired in 1982 from Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. of Oil City. He was a Protestant. Mr. Porter was a member of the Jesse Greer VFW Post 1835 and the Loyal Order of the Moore Lodge 83, both of Franklin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Porter was married April 10, 1959, to Norma J. Rupert, who survived at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City. Also surviving are four daughters, Loretta Porter of Franklin, Mrs. Thomas L. (Sherry) Wiand of Stoneboro, Kathy Lewis and companion, Donald “Zeke” Moyer of Sandy Lake and Mrs. Thomas J. (Pamela) Liberatore of Churchton, Md.; three sons, Edward A. Lewis of Sandy Lake, Gerald Porter of Key West, Fla., and David Porter of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one sister, Dorothy Clark of Oil City; and one brother, Alfred “Buster” Porter and wife, Margaret, of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Porter was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Porter; and one sister, Margaret “Midge” Milligan. Margaret I. Rodgers, 88, formerly of 1260½ Elk St., Franklin, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in The Caring Place. Born Oct. 15, 1915, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Wright Beggs. Mrs. Rodgers had been employed as a custodian for G.C. Murphy Department store in Franklin, the Franklin Hospital and for several area restaurants. She was married to Mossie Rodgers, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Francis (Josephine) Zagar of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin, with the Rev. Sam Gibb, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, 16323. Irma M. Berlin Shotts, 91, of Westlake, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Oakridge Home in Westlake. Born Dec. 1, 1912, in East McKeesport, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Menk Berlin. Mrs. Shotts was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a teacher of music for many years. She was an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and was known for her love of reading. Surviving are friends and family, including a brother, William C. Berlin; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Shotts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Derwode “Stub” Shotts; a brother, Harold W. Berlin; and two sisters, Margaret Davidson and Thelma Berlin. Graveside services will be held at noon Friday in the Tylersburg Cemetery, Leeper. Whitling, 84, of Emlenton RD, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born Oct. 10, 1919, in Richland Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Albert and Mary Jane Wolf Whitling. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Whitling had worked as a foreman for the state department of highways. He retired from Anchor Glass Containers Corp. in Reno. In his earlier years, he did farming. After his retirement, he enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Whitling was a member of the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Knox RD, and was a member of the American Legion Post 0097 in Lamartine. He was married July 5, 1948, to the former Anna Jane Creese, who died Aug. 4, 2004. Surviving are one son and his wife, David A. and Jane Whitling of Venus; four daughters and their husbands, Brenda L. and John Beggs of Seneca, Sharon A. and Michael Frederick of Clarion, June E. and Douglas Rhoads of Knox and Cindy L. and William Criley of Butler; a stepdaughter, Susan J. Lemmon of Shippenville; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Anne Weeter and husband, Hal, of Conway, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Mary Whitling of St. Petersburg; and a brother-in-law, George Wingard of Shippenville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Whitling was preceded in death by a son, Albert L. Whitling Jr.; a stepson, Kenneth Lemmon; three brothers, James Whitling, Walter Whitling and Russell Whitling; and two sisters, Mae Wingard and Irma Jane Simpson. Witherup, 55, of 681 Horsecreek Road, Seneca, died suddenly Wednesday morning, Aug. 11, 2004, in the emergency room of UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born Oct. 18, 1948, in Franklin, he was the son of Robert A. and Mary Louise Borland Witherup. He was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School and was a 1970 graduate of Grove City College with a degree in mechanical engineering. After college, Mr. Witherup served with the U.S. Navy as a radar technician in the Mediterranean Sea. He started employment in 1972 with Witherup Fabrication & Erection Inc. and in 1985, he became president of the company, a position he held to this day. Mr. Witherup was a certified installer and inspector in Pennsylvania of above ground storage tanks. He had served on the board of the Venango Economic Development Corp. He was very involved in the economic development of Venango County and was well-known for his generosity to numerous organizations. Mr. Witherup was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 110, the Franklin Moore Lodge and the Franklin Eagles. He enjoyed science, debating, reading scientific and technical manuals and spending time with his friends and family. Surviving are two sisters, Ann Rudegeair and husband, Marty, of Franklin and Mary Beth “Betz” Witherup of New York, New York; three brothers, Vincent L. Witherup and Lee Masters, Barry G. “Jeep” Witherup and Robert A. “Bobby” Witherup Jr. and wife, Becky, all of Franklin; an aunt, Marguerite “Susie” Witherup of Franklin; an uncle, Louis H. Witherup of Kennerdell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Witherup was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard G. Witherup. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Church with The Very Rev. Ronald Witherup, S.S. Provincial of the U.S. Province of Sulpician Fathers, Baltimore, Md., presiding. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
