Huff, Butler Street, Clintonville Arthur Ian "Bud" James, Main Street, Rimersburg Jessika Elaine Davenport, 21, of Emlenton and the Butler area, died suddenly at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, in Penn Township, Butler County. She was born May 21, 1983, in Butler, and was a 2001 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, Foxburg. Ms. Davenport had served with the Pennsylvania National Guard until physical health problems prevented her participation, and she was honorably discharged because of health reasons. She then served as a certified nurse's aide in the Butler area. She was Protestant by faith. Surviving are a brother, Daniel Davenport of Butler; her maternal grandmother, Elaine Johnson Wideman of Emlenton; two aunts, Deborah Irvin and Diane Wideman, both of Butler; five uncles, William Wideman of New Mexico, Edmund and Darren Wideman, both of Emlenton, and Milton and Ralph Wideman, both of Butler; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Lynn Wideman Davenport, on Feb. 9, 1992. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home Inc., Main Street, Eau Claire. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Scrubgrass Cemetery. Charles A. Gillette, 66, of Venice, Fla., and an Oil City native, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004. Among his survivors are two daughters, LeAnne Gillette Hengstler, and Diane Myers Rehberg, both of Seneca; and two sons, Brian Myers of Titusville, and Chris Myers of Franklin. James L. Glass, 66, of 143 Glass Lane, Venus, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his residence. Born July 13, 1938, in Venus, he was a son of Lester E. Glass Sr. and Julia H. McCauley Glass. Mr. Glass served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He had worked for Neiderriters, Asplundah Tree Co., Salsgivers, Exley Lumber and Koppers. Mr. Glass was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, camping, outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren, family and dog, Button. On Dec. 31, 1966, he married the former Betty L. Greenwald, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Melissa D. Garich, and husband, Christopher, of Franklin, and Randy L. Reed, and wife, Vicki, of Centerville; six grandchildren, Lacey Garich, Chelsea Garich, Kali Garich, Courtney Reed, Amber Banner and Dylan Reed; five sisters, Esther Beck of Shippenville, Ethel Osborn, and husband, Ralph, of Seneca; Betty Culbertson, and husband, Lee, of Seneca, Jennie Morrison of Jackson S.C., and Marjorie Gifford of Venus; five brothers, Paul Glass, and wife, Mary, of Venus, Robert Glass, and wife, Dorothy, of Venus, Leroy Glass of Venus, Roger Glass, and wife, Barb, of Venus, and Richard Glass, and wife, Judy, of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Glass, Lawrence Glass and Lester E. Frederick Anthony Haag, 48, of 5163 Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville, Irwin Township, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his residence after a four-year illness. Born May 28, 1956, in Langhorne, he was the son of Fred and Thelma Allshouse Haag. Mr. Haag was a high-lift operator for Mercer Forge, retiring in 2000 after 20 years of service. He was a member of ABATE and Grove City American Legion Post 220. He loved to sing and play guitar. He was of the Protestant faith. He was married June 28, 1975, to Sandra McCauley, who survives in Hadley. Also surviving are two children, Anthony Paul Haag and Sonya R. Haag, both of Grove City; a companion, Mary Feltenberger of Harrisville; his father and stepmother, Fred and Freida Haag of Grove City; two sisters, Jeanne Haag of Grove City, and Pamela Whitmer, and husband, Dan, of Oil City; three brothers, Dennis E. Haag, and wife, Mary Jo, of Clintonville, and Randy and Jeffrey Haag, both of Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his mother. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mount Irwin Cemetery, Irwin Township. James L. Huff, 61, of Butler Street, Clintonville, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his residence after an extended illness. Born Sept. 8, 1942, in Salem, he was the son of Walter V. and Claribel B. Griffin Huff. Mr. Huff graduated from Victory Joint School, now part of the Franklin School District, in Irwin Township in 1962. A resident of Clintonville since 1980, he was employed at Daniels Transfer as a tractor-trailer driver for 15 years before his retirement. He was a member for most of his life of the Moose lodges in Mercer and Franklin, the VFW of Grove City and a social member of Paul W. Wood Post No. 7840 at Hilliards. He also was a member of the Thompson Memorial Association at West Sunbury Legion No. 243, West Sunbury. Mr. Huff enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed the outdoors. Surviving are a daughter, Pamela E. Garicpy, and companion, Rodney J. Smathers, of Grand Valley; two sons, James A. Huff of Pleasantville, and Walter Vern Huff, and wife, Wendy L., of Titusville; a sister, Beverly J. Gilmore, and husband, Edward L., of Clintonville; a sister-in-law, Connie M. Huff of Harrisville; several nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, Jessey, Melissa and Tiffany Vanderhoof and Joshua, Amanda and Cody Huff; and a great-grandchild, Jag Ryan Vanderhoof. He was preceded in death by his father on Aug. 2, 1993; his mother on July 4, 1999; and a brother, Arnold B. Huff Sr., on Oct. 5, 2003. Arthur Ian "Bud" James, 86, of Main Street, Rimersburg, died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Beverly Health Care, Shippenville, following a long illness. Born Oct. 25, 1917, in Pittsburgh, he was the only son of Arthur I. James and Honor Fenton James. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Rimersburg and had attended schools in Pittsburgh and Florida before graduating from Union High School in 1936. He then attended Allegheny College in Meadville. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and received his pilot's certificate while stationed at Randolph Field in Texas. He was a charter member of the Rimersburg Lions Club and was King Lion in 1988 and 1989. He was a member of the Rimersburg Borough Council, served as president, and was instrumental in the establishment of the new water system from East Brady. Also, he was a founding member and past treasurer of the Southern Clarion County Development Committee; a member of the Council of Government while the Sligo Park was built; a member of the American Legion; and he was Rimersburg's Citizen of the Year in 1982. He operated Arthur I. James Insurance Agency in Rimersburg, Petrolia and Butler from 1946 until 1976, and then operated the Rimersburg office until his retirement in 1992. He was married Dec. 28, 1940, to the former Pauline J. "Polly" Jordan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Robert James, and wife, Marlene, and Arthur William James, all of Rimersburg; a daughter, Honor Katherine Stawarz, and husband, James, of Johnstown; five grandchildren, Steven Stanley Stawarz, and wife, Amy, of Johnstown, Sheila Pauline Johnson, and husband, Dirk W., of Ebensburg, Jesse Robert James, and wife, Suzann, of Leeper, Jamie Marvin James of Monaca, and Richard William James of Rimersburg; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan, Catherine, Zander, James and Nolan Dirk, and Karson and Pauline Johnson, all of Ebensburg, Seth Steven and Sydney Honor Stawarz, both of Johnstown, Christy Ann and Elizabeth Grace James, both of Leeper, and Joshua Thomas James of Monaca. He was preceded in death by his mother Jan. 21, 1959; his father Nov. 12, 1959; and two sisters, Janet Josephine James on May 20, 1947, and Mary Olive "Ollie" Troese on Oct. 25, 1975. The American flag will be presented to the family by members of the Rimersburg VFW and American Legion ceremonial squad following the funeral service.
