Rice, 1220 Chestnut St., Franklin Grace B. Ruth, Distant Richard Glenn Bump Richard Glenn Bump, 58, of Baumgardner Road, Harriman, Tenn., died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, in the Marshall C. Voss Health Care Center in Rockwood, Tenn. Born Aug. 5, 1946, in Franklin, he was the son of W. Glenn and June Heeter Bump. He was a 1965 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. Mr. Bump was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed as an electrician. Mr. Bump and was an accomplished singer and guitar player. Surviving are a daughter, Treesa Hendrix of Knoxville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Chris, Mike and Timmy of Knoxville. He also is survived by his mother, June Bump of Rockwood, Tenn.; a sister, Dixie McVay and husband, James, of Franklin; four brothers, David Bump of Titusville, Dennis Bump and wife, Carolyn, of Conneaut Lake, Daniel Bump of Sequin, Texas, and Drew Bump and wife, Dawn, of Harriman, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bump was preceded in death by his father, W. Glenn Bump; a son, Richard Graham Bump; and a sister, Darla Bump. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, in the Chapel of Evans Mortuary, Rockwood, Tenn., with the Rev. Shannon Walls officiating. Hagan, 53, of Easy Drive, Lucinda, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Oct. 3, 2004, at her home. Born Aug. 1, 1951, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Mary and Donald McNellie of the Titusville area. Mrs. Hagan was a graduate of Oil City High School and Clarion University. After graduation, she taught school in the Pittsburgh area and presently was employed as a MH/MR counselor for Clarion County. Mrs. Hagan enjoyed reading, her friends, the ocean and taking care of her grandchildren. She was married Jan. 6, 1989, to Dennis Hagan, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kayla and Tara, and two grandchildren, Zoe and Ian, all of Lucinda. She also is survived by her parents of Titusville; a brother, Phil McNellie of Oil City; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Diane Thomas of Lake Lucy. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Earl Cornnet officiating. Interment will be in Reidsburg Cemetery. Charles A. Imel Jr. Charles A. Imel Jr., 88, of 1093 North Mayfield Road, Clarion, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at his home. Born Feb. 28, 1916, in Tionesta, he was the son of Charles A. and Muriel Dunn Imel. He was a graduate of Clarion High School and attended Clarion State Teachers College, now Clarion University, for three years. From 1936 to 1940, Mr. Imel worked for PennDOT. He and his wife then moved to New Jersey where he worked as an inspector for George M. Brewster & Sons Construction Co. Some of the projects included Andrews Air Force Base, Taylor Model Basin and Pickatinny Arsenal. In 1947, Mr. Imel and his family returned to Clarion, where he and his father were involved in coal stripping. In 1950 they formed Charles A. Imel & Son, General Contractors. They were the contractors who paved Fifth Avenue in Clarion when it went from brick to concrete. They also did the original widening of the Riverhill from two lanes to three lanes. The job he was most proud of was the Route 36 bridge over the Allegheny River in Tionesta. He retired in 1989 from the Richland Stone Co., which he had founded and operated. Mr. Imel was an avid golfer and was president of Pinecrest County Club from 1939 to 2003. He enjoyed woodworking and oil painting. He was a member of the North Clarion School Board for 20 years and was president for 10 of those years. On April 10, 1940, Mr. Imel married Lettisia "Tish" Ammerman in the Clarion College Chapel, the first wedding to be performed there. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Imel and wife, Bonnie, and James Imel and wife, Sondra, all of Florida; one daughter, Kathy Jo Imel of Colorado; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Imel was preceded in death by one infant brother, Bobby, and a brother, James, who died at Anzio Beach, Italy, during World War II. Arrangements are in charge of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. By request of the family there will be no public visitation. Following cremation, a private interment will take place in Clarion Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Clarion-Forest Hospice or Clarion Free Library. Joyce Jefferds Joyce Jefferds, 63, of Marienville, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at her home. Born Feb. 12, 1941, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Michael and Clara Lococo Merchant. Mrs. Jefferds was a member of St. Ann Church in Marienville and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Marienville. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Jefferds had resided in Walker's Mill near Carnegie. She was married Dec. 19, 1959, to Fred Jefferds, who survives. They would have been married 45 years this December. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son and his wife, Frederick P. and Christi Jefferds of Florence, Ky.; two daughters and their husbands, Shelley A. and Allen Miller of Bluffton, S.C., and Susan M. and Tony Barkey of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren, M. Allen Miller, Ronald W. Miller, Ryan F. Jefferds and Kyle M. Jefferds. She also is survived by one sister, Marianne Palombi of Carnegie; and one brother, Domenick Merchant of Bridgeville. Mrs. Jefferds was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Merchant. Agnes I. Keith Agnes I. Keith, 87, of 476 Congress Hill Road, Franklin, died at 4:12 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in The Caring Place. Born June 24, 1917, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Harvey H. and Irene Burgard Davis. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mrs. Keith was retired from Polk Center where she operated the Hobby Shop. She was a member of the Congress Hill Church of God. Mrs. Keith enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and volunteering for the Easter Seal Society. She was married June 21, 1939, to Donald T. Keith, who died April 19, 1982. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Harriger and husband, Frank, of Franklin; three sisters, Janice Hines and husband, William, June Penrod and Clarissa Marvin, all of Franklin; the following nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Gahr and husband, Mike, Jennifer Winkler and husband, Peter, and William Hines and wife, Becky, all of Franklin, and Robert Hines and wife, Robin, of Middleburg, Fla.; the following grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Adam, Ben and Matt Gahr, Rosemarie and P.J. Winkler and Melissa and Laura Hines, all of Franklin, and Sheila and Briar Hines of Middleburg, Fla. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa A. Violet G. Oakes Violet G. Oakes, 93, formerly of Van, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born April 20, 1911, in Flat Rock, Ill., she was the daughter of Emery and Lucy Ralston Lineman. Mrs. Oakes attended the Fertigs Gospel Tabernacle. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Oakes was married in the Van Free Methodist Church in 1929 to Russell Oakes, who died Dec. 1, 1972. Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Rennard of Route 322, Cranberry; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Oakes of Victory Heights; five grandchildren, Rita Shaw, Russell Rennard, Ray Rennard, Cora J. Bodine and Erla Oakes; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Oakes was preceded in death by a son, Emery B. Oakes, Dec. 6, 1994; a son-in-law, John Rennard, Dec. 30, 1994; and four brothers, Albert Lineman, Nelson Lineman, Emery Lineman and Lewis Lineman. There will be no visitation. Rice, 89, of 1220 Chestnut St., Franklin, died at 12:11 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born Sept. 12, 1915, in Salamanca, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lester P. and Onie E. Lawrence Schropp. Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and making scrap books. She first was married to Norman Osborne, who died in October 1968. She then was married to Howard E. Rice, who died April 21, 1993. Surviving are four sons and their wives, John and Patricia Osborne of Rouseville, Edward and Julia Osborne of Centerville, Donald and Janet Osborne of Cooperstown and Norman and Judie Osborne of Simi Valley, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Thelma E. Reynolds of Seneca. In addition to her parents, stepfather and two husbands, Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Lusher, April 26, 1985; twin grandsons in July 1962; and two brothers, Thomas and Lawrence Schropp. The Robert W. Ruth, 96, of Distant, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in the Brookville Hospital. Born April 12, 1908, in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Julius P. and Mary Etta Pryor Nelson. Mrs. Ruth was a school teacher for 44 years in Armstrong County and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Mount Zion Community Church at Beautiful Lookout. Mrs. Ruth also was a member of the P.F.C.A. in Harrisburg. She was married Oct. 12, 1945, to Walter F. Ruth, who died Sept. 13, 1991. Mrs. Ruth and her husband raised her nephew, Donald Nelson, who resides in Fostoria, Ohio. Also surviving are other nephews and nieces. Mrs. Ruth was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Bish, Mary Milligan, Florence Gould and Ida Ruth Nelson; and four brothers, Samuel Nelson, Charles Nelson, Chester A.
