Rhoades, Emlenton RD 1 Donald H. Shoemaker, Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of New Bethlehem Thelma G. Burns Thelma G. Burns, 91, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, formerly of Rimersburg, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in the emergency room of Clarion Hospital. Born June 26, 1913, in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Homer B. and Ethel Reed George. She was a 1931 graduate of Sligo High School and was a graduate of Clarion Normal School, now Clarion University. Mrs. Burns began her teaching career in 1939 in many one-room school houses throughout Clarion County. She retired in 1971 from Rimersburg Elementary School in Union School District. She was a member of the Sligo United Methodist Church. Mrs. Burns enjoyed bowling, playing cards, camping and traveling. She was married Sept. 3, 1938, in Mount Morris United Methodist Church to Harold "Jobe" Burns, who died April 21, 1974. Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn O'Neil of Knox and Maxine Coast of Goodyear, Ariz.; four brothers and their wives, Harold and Jane George of Polk, Francis and Joan George and Don and Mildred George, all of Knox, and Allen and Nancy George of Brockway; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Russell, pastor of the Sligo United Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will be in the Rimersburg Memorial Mausoleum. James E. Cochran James E. Cochran, 81, of Belmar Road, Franklin, died suddenly in his home Thursday morning, Sept. 30, 2004. The Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. Dolores M. Gregory Dolores M. Gregory, 91, of Lake Lucy Road, Tionesta, died early Thursday morning, Sept. 30, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born Aug. 11, 1913, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Frank P. and Regina L. Michels. Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Homewood VFW No. 4017. She was married June 7, 1952, to Stewart J. Gregory, who survives. She and her husband lived in Pittsburgh most of their lives and she worked at Niles Bakery in Penn Hills. Mrs. Gregory and her husband moved in 1958 to the Tionesta area. She attended the Washington Chapel. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Faller Funeral Home, Fryburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Evans, VNA chaplain, officiating. Her cremains will be interred in Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. Richard G. Rhoades Richard G. Rhoades, 87, of Emlenton RD 1, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. The William N. Rupert Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Shoemaker, 75, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of New Bethlehem, died Thursday morning, Sept. 30, 2004, in Florida following an illness.
