Kraft, getting it right William Edward "Bill" Chandler William Edward "Bill" Chandler, 35, of Baker School Road, Rimersburg, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in a fire at the home of his sister, Denise L. Chandler, who lives on Monterrey Road, Rimersburg. Born Dec. 3, 1968, in Rochester, Pa., he was the son of William N. and Mary L. Weigel Chandler of Rimersburg. He attended the Union schools. Mr. Chandler enjoyed fishing and writing poetry and had composed several poems that were published in poetry journals. Surviving, in addition to his parents of Rimersburg, are two sisters, Lisa M. Shaw and husband, Rick, of Brookville and Denise L. Chandler of Rimersburg; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence A. Weigel of Beaver Falls; five nephews, Joshua W. Chandler of New Bethlehem, Justin W. Shaw of Brookville, Dillan E. Burt, Roy L. Anthony Jr. and Blaine P. Anthony, all of Rimersburg; and one niece, Jessica M. Shaw of Brookville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward W. Weigel, July 2, 1995; paternal grandfather, George Edward Chandler, Sept. 26, 1990; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Della Chandler, Nov. 19, 1996. Ewing, 76, of 709 Allegheny Ave., Oil City, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at her daughter's residence in Oil City. Born July 6, 1928, in Olean, N.Y., she was the daughter of Wilfred and Bernita Clark Marsh. She was a 1946 graduate of Oil City High School and a 1948 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College. She also had attended Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Ewing was co-owner of Grand Valley Manufacturing where she served as treasurer, office manager and corporate secretary for more than 15 years until her retirement in 1980. She also was co-owner and vice president of Blue Chip Tool Co. She was a member of Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Atlanta, Ga., since 1996. She was a former member from 1946 to 1996 of several Free Methodist churches where she taught Sunday school for 45 years. She had served and ministered for four years at the Olive Branch Mission (Skid Row) in Chicago. Surviving are the following children, Mrs. Renee Thompson and husband, Dave, of Oil City, Mrs. Cheri Mason and husband, John, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Craig Ewing and wife, Cinda, of Fairmont, W.Va., and David Ewing of Prospect; an adopted daughter, Gia Tong and husband, Charlie Huynh, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She also is survived by a brother, Calvin J. Marsh and wife, Pauline, of Pleasantville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lou Schreffler and husband, Scott, of Atlanta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Christina Marshall Hudak Christina Marshall Hudak, 37, of 307 Bissell Ave., Oil City, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident along 1-80 in Hubbard Township. Born Dec. 4, 1966, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Barbara Cotton Marshall. She was a 1984 graduate of Oil City High School and a 1986 graduate of ITT Tech. Mrs. Hudak resided in Youngstown, Ohio, for 18 years following graduation. She worked for 10 years at Mahoning National Bank in Youngstown and then was employed by Norstan Communication in Breckville, Ohio. She moved back to Oil City in 2003 and was employed by Federal Express and USIS in Grove City. Mrs. Hudak enjoyed traveling with her family. Surviving are two children, Brandon M. Hudak of Youngstown, Ohio, and Tyler J. Hudak of Oil City; a brother, Jeffery Marshall of Oil City; two sisters, Patricia Harn of East Palestine, Ohio, and Charlene Rapp of Clearwater, Fla.; her grandfather, George L. Wyant; and her close friend, Edward Olszowka. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hudak was preceded in death by her husband, S. Barry Hudak; a sister, Sandra L. Marshall; and a brother, Jack Marshall. Merritt, 89, of Marienville, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 27, 2004, in Marienville after an illness. Born Dec. 11, 1914, in Fairview, he was the son of William H. and Bessie Miller Merritt. Mr. Merritt was an electrician for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad, working in Albion and Butler. He retired to Marienville in 1975. He had been a member of the VFW Club in Greenville and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Albion. Mr. Merritt was married Oct. 18, 1935, to Ruth Leonard, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Lois Herbert of Slippery Rock and Janet Guterry and Ruth Konar, both of Marienville; a son and his wife, William H. and Helen Merritt of Dover; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister-in-law, Deloris Merritt of Pascagoula, Miss.; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Jeanne Merritt and Jack and Kate Merritt, all of Albion; and three sisters, Marjorie Nyberg and Carolyn Hough and husband, Donald, all of Albion, and Barbara Kelly of Hilliards, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Mr. Merritt was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia, and one brother, Harold Merritt; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kelly. Carol Ann Wert Carol Ann Wert, 43, of Knox RD, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 27, 2004, in UPMC Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short illness. The William N. Williams, 76, of 23342 Kunz Road, Pleasantville, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, in Titusville Area Hospital. Born Aug. 27, 1928, in Titusville, he was the son of Delmar and Neva Dailey Williams. Mr. Williams attended the former Henderson Grade School and Titusville Junior and Senior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1946 and served 18 months in the states and in Germany as a radio operator until his honorable discharge in 1947. After his discharge, Mr. Williams and his brother, Pat, opened Williams Service Station & Wrecker Service in Titusville. He was employed from February 1960 to 1980 by the Titusville Police Department. He also was employed at Peebles Motors until his retirement due to ill health. Mr. Williams was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. Mr. Williams enjoyed hunting and golfing. He was married in Titusville June 26, 1953, to Twila Crawford, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Denny and Amy Williams and Mark and Debbie Williams, all of Titusville; a granddaughter, Tess; and two stepgrandchildren, A.J. and Kristin MacQuarrie. He also is survived by a brother, Dewey Williams and wife, Pat, of Titusville; two sisters and their husbands, Virginia and Elmer Parker of Centerville and Betty and John Vasbinder of Pleasantville; three sisters-in-law, Mary Williams of Titusville, Barbara Williams of Morehead City, N.C., and Carol Schuppenhauer of Sugar Grove; a brother-in-law and wife, Wayne and Lilian Crawford of Costa Mesa, Calif.; several cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful pet, Kaley; In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Pat and Norman Williams.
