George, Franklin Grace I. Dunlap Leiby, Grove City Sarah Jane McCandless, 119 Lower Saint George Road, Kennerdell Ruth Lendrum Stiller, 1 Sycamore St., Oil City Steven Bruce Wilson, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Marienville Nancy Tempest Aldrich Nancy Tempest Aldrich, 65, a native of Marienville, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Pueblo, Colo. Born Feb. 26, 1939, in Marienville, she was the daughter of Earl and Mary Jane Tempest. Mrs. Aldrich was a licensed clinical psychologist in Pueblo. She was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church, P.E.O., Chapter BT, and was one of the founding members of Daughters of the King. Mrs. Aldrich was loved for her energy, kindness and compassion. Surviving are her husband, Richard C. Aldrich; three children, Kelsey Aldrich and Craig Aldrich, both of Talkeetna, Alaska, and Stephen Aldrich, of Winona, Minn. She also is survived by a brother, Robert Tempest of Berea, Ohio; a sister, Mary Lou Moore of Oil City; and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday in the Ascension Episcopal Church in Pueblo. "Genny" Frederick, 87, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-Clarion, formerly of State College, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in the Clarion facility. Born Jan. 10, 1917, in Milton, she was the daughter of William and Bertha Hippensteele Callenberger. Mrs. Frederick was a Jehovah's Witness and attended both congregations in State College and Shippenville. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing. Surviving are one sister, Nell Sherwood of Milton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frederick was preceded in death by one son, Richard Frederick; one daughter, Nancy Frederick Glosser; two sisters, Alda Hendricks and Frances Callenberger; and an infant brother, William Callenberger. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Strattanville Cemetery. The Rev. Richard A. George The Rev. Richard A. George, 67, of Franklin, died at 1:22 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin, where he had been residing since November 1998. Born March 17, 1937, in New Castle, he was the son of Burton and Vera Allen George. Rev. George was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and Geneva College. He then was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Seminary and received several master's degrees including one from Clarion. He served for 20 years as a chaplain in the U.S. Army. After his military retirement, Rev. George served as pastor at several churches in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He was a member of the Lake Erie Presbytery. Rev. George was an amateur photographer and enjoyed traveling. Surviving are a sister, Nancy A. George of Franklin; and several cousins. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jack A. Kyle officiating. Dunlap Leiby, 89, formerly of 2136 Sandy Lake-Grove City Road, Worth Township, Mercer County, died at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Grove Manor, Grove City, where she had resided since January of this year. She had been ill for the past six months. Born Dec. 19, 1914, in Harrisville, she was the daughter of Lawrence Perry and Ethel Roberts Leiby. Mrs. Leiby retired as a custodian from Grove City Area School District where she worked at the Grove City Senior High School. During World War II, she worked as a machinist for Cooper Bessemer. She was a member of Zion Wesleyan Methodist Church. Mrs. Leiby was married Aug. 9, 1938, to Jonathan George Leiby, who survives. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leiby was preceded in death by six brothers, Clyde Dunlap, Floyd Dunlap, Fred Dunlap, Norman Dunlap, William Dunlap and an infant, Kenneth Dunlap; and four sisters, Edith Simmons, Shirley Maurer, Charlotte Dunlap and Pearl Kifer. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Greenlee, pastor of the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City. Sarah Jane McCandless Sarah Jane McCandless, 65, of 119 Lower Saint George Road, Kennerdell, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born June 7, 1939, in Butler, she was the daughter of William and Dorothy Eyth Roberts. She was a graduate of Butler High School and had lived most of her life in the Butler area. Mrs. McCandless had lived in the Rockland-Kennerdell area for the past nine years. She was a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCandless was a homemaker who enjoyed the outdoors, traveling to the beach and the Shenandoah National Park. She loved her family pets. She was married Sept. 26, 1964, to Lynn H. McCandless, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, William and Christy McCandless of Kennerdell and Jack and Julie McCandless of Butler; and eight grandchildren, Austin, Megan, Marissa and Caleb McCandless of Kennerdell, and Lynaia, Christian, Nathan and Milena McCandless of Butler. Mrs. McCandless was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Rockland United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Shawn Goodwin, pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Tim Young, pastor of the Oil City Community Alliance Church. Interment will be in the Rockland Cemetery. Ruth Lendrum Stiller Ruth Lendrum Stiller, 80, of Luther Place, 1 Sycamore St., Oil City, died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin, following an extended illness. Born April 26, 1924, in Clinton Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of Arnold and Mabel Miller French. Mrs. Stiller had been employed for 10 years as a nurses aide at Grandview Healthcare-Oil City. Prior to that, she had been a baker at the Elm Street Diner. She was a Christian. Mrs. Stiller enjoyed playing cards, bingo and the companionship of her many pet cats over the years. She first was married to Edward Lendrum, who died Feb. 16, 1974. She later married John Stiller, who died Jan. 4, 1989. Surviving are four children, John Lendrum of Fertigs, Robert Lendrum of Franklin, Kathleen Lytle of Durango, Colo., and Sandra Graff of Oil City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Helen Archer of Oil City. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Stiller was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald French. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with The Rev. James Waugh Jr. of the Resurrection Baptist Church of Titusville, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Foundation, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301. Steven Bruce Wilson Steven Bruce Wilson, 53, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Marienville, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in the veterans home. Born Oct. 11, 1950, in Doylestown, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard P. Wilson Sr. and Doris Clare Dunmig Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a career military staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam among other places. After high school and his first phase of military, he graduated from Eastern College in Saint Davids, Pa., and reentered the military service. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing, travel, family and skiing in the Alps. Surviving are three sisters, Linda Wilson Clymer of Marienville, Wendy Wilson Davis of Elmira, N.Y., and Faith Court of Wilkes-Barre; two stepsisters, Rebecca Wilson of Silver Springs, Md., and Pamela Patterson of Clyde, N.C.; one brother, Richard P. Wilson Jr. of Quakertown; a stepbrother, Lane Bleich; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a stepmother, Jean Wilson; and a stepsister, Deborah Bleich. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home, Marienville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Richter, pastor of the Marienville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Carversville Cemetery in Carversville.
