Oakley, Pine Oak Lane, Strattanville Daniel Xavier Jeffery Schmidt, Glade Springs, Va. Eleanor K. Shutt, 322 S. Martin St., Titusville, formerly of Oil City Jean F. Wilmouth Jr., McCandless Township Wilmer L. "Bill" Burford, 82, of 113 Short St., Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Brookville Hospital. Born Jan. 20, 1925, in Climax, he was the son of Albert Roy and Florence Bell Hetrick Burford. Mr. Burford was a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the First Church of God in New Bethlehem. Mr. Burford enjoyed spending time with his family, being in church and singing. He sang with the Burford Quartet and the Burford Family Singers. He was married Oct. 9, 1943, to Ruth A. Wynkoop, who died April 21, 2004. Surviving are four daughters, Judy Walker and husband, Jim, of Oak Ridge, Pam Burford of Fairmount City, Tammy Wolfe and husband, David, of Mayport and Laurie Edmonds and husband, Gary, of Oak Ridge; eight grandchildren, James Walker, Paula Ripple, Shawna Shumaker, Deidre Brentzel, Danielle Wolfe, Deanna Wolfe, Brian Wells and Bobbie Mangiantini; and nine great-grandchildren, Dylan Walker, Joshua Walker, Preston Walker, Preslea, Shumaker, Wyat Shumaker, Jordan Brothers, Javin Brentzel, Olivia Brentzel and Evan Wadsworth. He also is survived by two sisters, Anna Mae Evans of Brookville and Kay and Gale Hepler of Oak Ridge; and three brothers and their wives, Paul and Gail Burford, Malcolm "Mack" and Dawn Burford and Neal and Clydine Burford, all of Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Burford was preceded in death by a son, James Leroy Burford; two sisters, Ethel Horne and Elva Neiswonger; and three brothers, Cleo "Jock" Burford, Warren Burford and Tom Burford. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Church of God in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor John Phillips and Pastor Jimmie Swogger officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County. Florence M. Newhouse Florence M. Newhouse, 77, of 47 S. Main St., Brookville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in her residence. Born May 5, 1930, in Warren, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ray B. and Beulah Baker Fox. Mrs. Newhouse was employed at Sylvania and also had been a student aide at Brookville Area High School. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 520 of Brookville and the Presbyterian Church in Brookville. Mrs. Newhouse was married in Brookville Aug. 10, 1952, to Paul B. Newhouse, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kelly L. Alter of Honeybrook; a son, Scott L. Newhouse of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Fox. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Presbyterian Church, Brookville. Friends will be received prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Pisgah Cemetery in Corsica. The McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, is in charge of arrangements. Gloria A. Oakley Gloria A. Oakley, 67, of Pine Oak Lane, Strattanville, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in DuBois Regional Medical Center, DuBois. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Daniel Xavier Jeffery Schmidt Daniel Xavier Jeffery Schmidt, infant son of Daniel Schmidt Jr. and Tiffany Hardy Schmidt of Glade Springs, Va., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. His father is a former resident of Utica. The infant was born Oct. 25, 2007. Surviving, in addition to his loving parents, are his paternal grandparents, Daniel Schmidt Sr. and Lorna Schmidt of Utica; his maternal grandparents, Jeff and Theresa Hardy of Glade Springs, Va., and his great-grandparents, Sam and Charlotte Poston of Virginia. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Pennsylvania, Virginia and New York. The infant was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Melvin and Naomi Schmidt; his great-great-grandmother, Betty Jean Lefler Davidson; and his great-great-grandfathers, Jim Hart and Lee Hardy. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 8, in Bradley's Funeral Chapel, Chilhowie, Va. Eleanor K. Shutt Eleanor K. Shutt, 85, of 322 S. Martin St., Titusville, a former Oil City resident, died at 5:37 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, in Titusville Area Hospital shortly after her arrival there. Born July 6, 1922, in Youngsville, she was the daughter of E.M. and Pearl Greenlee Korb. She graduated in 1940 from Pleasantville High School and later from Erie Business School. Mrs. Shutt formerly was employed as a secretary for John May and Co. CPA for many years. She was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Oil City. Mrs. Shutt enjoyed cooking. She was married in the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church to Paul Shutt, who died April 16, 1999. Surviving are three sisters, Lois Benedict and husband, Harold, of Titusville, Edna Dowling of Titusville and Clare Barger and husband, William, of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Leroy Korb of Warren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shutt was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Antonovich. No calling hours will be observed. Funeral services, open to family and friends, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville, with the Rev. Philip H. Scherr, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice. Jean F. Wilmouth Jr. of McCandless Township, internationally known musician, educator and retailer, and husband of a former Lisbon resident, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. Mr. Wilmouth taught the Orff and Dalcroze methods of music education throughout North America, Germany, Finland and Taiwan. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and taught percussion/Orff methods at Duquesne University. Mr. Wilmouth was the leader of the Gateway to Percussion Music Ensemble, entertaining thousands of school children for 23 years. He owned Musik Innovations, located in Wexford, and was on the board of the Pittsburgh Concert Society. Mr. Wilmouth was married to the former Rita Hickman, daughter of Eleanore Hickman of Lisbon and the late Harry Hickman, a well-known artist. Rita was born near Kennerdell and attended Emlenton High School. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Gretchen Wilmouth, wife of James Hengst of Falls Church, Va., and Daniele Wilmouth of Chicago, Ill. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Simons Funeral Home Inc., 7720 Perry Highway, Ross Township. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1965 Ferguson Road, Allison Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pittsburgh Youth Chamber Orchestra in care of Musik Innovations, 9795 Perry Highway, Wexford, 15090.
