    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: k_purchase Surnames: Hamler/Homler/Hambler/Hombler/Homlar Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.cchs/2894/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Grandfather, Cornelius Hamler (1850NJ - 1913NJ), had a first wife, Hannah/Anna (Morgan) Hamler who lived in Morris Co. & Sussex Co., NJ and who died between 1895 & 1900. In the 1900 Census, Sussex Co., NJ, Cornelius Hamler was listed as a widower, living alone. This corresponds to what my father (Cornelius Hamler's last son) always told me about his family in New Jersey and his father's "first" family: "There were children from my father's first marriage but they were sent to Pennsylvania to live with relatives when their mother died." Cornelius Hamler married my Grandmother-- his second wife-- in 1902. My Dad never knew the names of his older half-siblings and it has taken me a long time to at last find one-- in the Census of 1895. The daughter of Cornelius and Anna Hamler was Clara Hamler; in the 1895 Census her age was listed as "between 5 and 20." I know that Clara was not listed in the Census of 1880 so between 1880 and 1890, according to the odd way that the Census of 1895 has of stating age-ranges, Clara Hamler was born. (She was over 5 years old in 1895.) So I am looking for my Dad's half-siblings who moved to Pennsylvania around 1895-1900. They would likely be "cousins" of the people who they went to live with. Also, in case it's relevant, there is a man named Abraham Hamler who, in 1818, moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania (Clarion Co., and Lycoming Co.) where he stayed and raised a family. He died in his forties and his wife Elizabeth Riferenberick Hamler married a man with the last name of Miller. I have suspected that Abraham Hamler was my GGrandfather's brother; Abraham was born in the same area of New Jersey in 1791 that my GGrandfather was born in, in 1807. My GGrandfather was named William H. Hamler (1807NJ - 1854NJ). Can anyone help me find my Dad's half-siblings who would have been born between 1880 and 1900? I only have the name of one: Clara Hamler but I am anxious to find them. Thank you for any guidance or help. Sincerely, Kathleen Hamler Purchase [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
