Straw, 1604 Love Road, Summerville Getting it right - Marjorie E. McElhattan Jane Marie Venturella Cirincione, 81, formerly of West Third Street and Red Coach Manor, Oil City, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Oil City, where she had been a resident. Born Oct. 16, 1926, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late S. Tom and Crissa C. Venturella. Mrs. Cirincione was a 1944 graduate of Oil City High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Church where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, sang with the mixed choir of the church for years and was a member of the servants of St. Stephen. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Cirincione worked in the city Treasurer's Office in Oil City. She enjoyed reading, flower gardening and jigsaw puzzles which were made into wall hangings and are hung up in the Golden Living Center. She especially loved music, playing the clarinet and saxophone in high school, playing her piano and playing her organ which was with her at the Golden Living Center. Mrs. Cirincione had accumulated 3,000 volunteer hours at the Oil City Hospital from 1979 until the hospital moved. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society selling daffodils and from the 1960s to the 1980s, she volunteered at St. Stephen School cafeteria while her children and grandchildren attended the school. On April 27, 1949, she married Stephen J. Cirincione, who preceded her in death May 30, 1994. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy J. Stover and husband, Gary, of Oil City; a son, Michael S. Cirincione and wife, Terri, of The Woodlands, Texas; four grandchildren, Angela M. Stover of Allison Park, Michael S. Cirincione, Jr. and wife, Kristy, of The Woodlands, Texas, Amanda K. Stover Olson and husband, Dale, of Oil City and Ashley E. Cirincione Williams and husband, Bryan, of Spring, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor Dale Olson and Alaina Jane Olson of Oil City and twins, Madison Grace Cirincione and Michael S. Cirincione III of The Woodlands, Texas. She also is surviving by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Frank Cirincione, Sept. 8, 1976, and a brother, Joseph C. Venturella. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Oil City. Box 1130, Franklin, 16323. Helen A. DeStefano Helen A. DeStefano, 95, of Allenhurst Avenue, Ridgway, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys. Born Jan. 4, 1912, in Ridgway, she was the daughter of Luigi and Angeleline Porreco Del Pozzo, and was a lifelong resident of Ridgway. Mrs. DeStefano was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway, a charter member of St. John of God Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, also in Ridgway. She served many years as a volunteer at St. Leo Church, Elk County Catholic High School Cafeteria in St. Marys and Elk County General Hospital Auxiliary, formerly of Ridgway. Mrs. DeStefano was married Aug. 10, 1927, to Michael P. DeStefano, who preceded her in death in 1991. Surviving are four daughters, Virginia DeStefano, now Sister Lucille, S.S.J. of Erie, Angela DeStefano of Ridgway, Mary Jo Stephenson and husband, Charles, of Oil City and Loretta Olson and husband, Robert, of Hollidaysburg; nine grandchildren, Jerry and Jeffrey Stephenson, Julie Kelley, Mary Jane Verhoff, Suzanne Vavala, Michael and Christopher DeStefano and Nicholas and Rachel Olson; and nine great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Angeline Kapusta of Farrell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan DeStefano; a sister, Mary Sette; and a brother, Anthony Del Pozzo. Friends will be received from 2:30 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home Inc., 130 Center St., Ridgway. Martz, 76, of 184 Olean Road, Corsica, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in Brookville Hospital. Born Dec. 29, 1930, in Bela, Clarion County, she was the daughter of James Jacob and Alice Mae Carson Lutz. Mrs. Martz was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She attended the Roseville Chapel. Mrs. Martz was married in Corsica Nov. 13, 1948, to Keith D. Martz, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Robert E. (Carolyn E.) Siar of Corsica, John (Shirley M.) Semanco of New Bethlehem and Gary F. (Kathy J.) Bauer of Wilson, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Harry Lutz of Strattanville; and three sisters, Marie Miller of Orlando, Fla., Ruby Paruch of Sydney, Nova Scotia, and Helen Ion of Clarion. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martz was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lutz; and four sisters, Dorothy and Pearl Lutz, Betty Hetrick and Lacetta Reddinger. Bonnie Belle Mechling Bonnie Belle Mechling, 82, of Kittanning, mother of Mrs. Larry (Rowena M.) Tosh of New Bethlehem, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, in Armstrong County Health Center. Herbert L. Partridge Herbert L. Partridge, 82, of 1440 Otter St., Franklin, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Oct. 20, 1925, in Sheakleyville, he was the son of Vance and Mary Montgomery Partridge. Mr. Partridge was the former owner of Partridge Lumber Co. He was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. Mr. Partridge was married Oct. 15, 1990, to Joan Britton, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Rick Partridge of Volant; three stepdaughters, Kim Wert and husband, James, of Pittsburgh, KathleenWitsell and husband, Warren, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judith Peterson of Cooperstown; a stepson, Jack Burns of Meadville; and three grandchildren, Michael Wert and Elizabeth Wert, both of Pittsburgh, and Alexis Witsell of Jacksonville, Fla. Straw, 71, of 1604 Love Road, Summerville, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007. Born July 12, 1936, in Thompsontown, she was the daughter of James E. and Caroline C. Blake McGarvey. Mrs. Straw retired from the cafeteria in Brookville Area School District after 26 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Brookville. Mrs. Straw enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited 49 out of the 50 states, except Alaska. She enjoyed home decorations, sewing, ceramics and her family and grandchildren. She loved being an avid patron of QVC home shopping. Mrs. Straw was married in Westover July 24, 1954, to Walter E. Straw, who survives. Surviving are two sons, Walter J. Straw and wife, Donna, of Curllsville and Randon W. Straw and wife, Carey, of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffery (LouAnn) Leathem of Knoxdale and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Bullers of Brookville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by five brothers, Franklin McGarvey of Kent, Ohio, Arthur McGarvey of Emlenton, Donald McGarvey of LaJose, Gary McGarvey of Hastings and Ronald McGarvey of Ebensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Straw Romanowski. McElhattan, 81, a resident of the Oil City Presbyterian Home, formerly of 307 Hoffman Ave., Oil City, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Among her survivors are three brothers-in-law, Dick Rhoades, George Merryman and Art Theiss, and a daughter-in-law, Brenda McElhattan Sensenbach.
