Mierzwa, formerly of 119 Clearfield St. Keith Eugene Zuck, 476 Pritchard Road Virginia I. Barnett Virginia I. Barnett, 84, of 41333 Pleasant St., Hydetown, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville. Born Jan. 22, 1923, at Wimber, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Matthew Andrew Kendall and Isabelle Lingenfelter Bailey Kendall. She was married to Max C. Barnett on April 24, 1943, at DuBois, Pa. Mrs. Barnett had attended the former Clarion Normal School, now Clarion University. She was a member of the Hydetown United Methodist Church where she was a member of the altar guild for many years. She was also a member of the Acacia Chapter No. 30 O.E.S. She enjoyed decorating and loved the Christmas holiday and spending time with her family. Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband, Max C. Barnett of Hydetown; three children, Timothy Max Barnett and his wife Janet of Ashtabula, Ohio, Cynthia Barnett Kline and her husband Duane of Hydetown, and Daniel Joseph Barnett of Hydetown; seven grandchildren, Max Justin Kline, Kristofer Kline, Matthew Kendall Kline, Camille Meabon Kline, Jenny Michelle Rohrs, Holly Elizabeth Reba, and Samuel Barnett; three great grandchildren, Declan Timothy Rohrs, Bailey Catherine Rohrs and Benjamin Richard Reba; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Bailey, and two sisters, Martha Leonard and Mary Ellis. No public calling hours will be observed. A private funeral service for the family will be conducted on Wednesday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville. Pastor Lila Bachelier of the Hydetown United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Temple Cemetery at Hazen, Pa. The family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice of Crawford County, 310 N. Monroe St. ,Titusville, 16354. Lucy G. Brown, 92, of 1535 Elk St., Franklin, died at 9:40 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, in The Caring Place. Born March 19, 1915, in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, she was a daughter of Thomas and Mabel Diehl Grumbling. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She was married June 4, 1942, to Charles E. Brown. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1996. Mrs. Brown retired as a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare in 1977. She was previously employed as a bookkeeping supervisor at the Franklin branch, now National City Bank, of the First National Bank of Meadville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brown had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross and she enjoyed ceramics, cooking and bowling with her husband. Surviving are a daughter, Diana Miller and her husband Walter of Franklin; two grandsons, John C. Miller and his wife Susan of Grove City and Brent W. Miller of Franklin; two great-grandchildren, Courtney and A.J. Miller, both of Grove City; a sister, Alice Lehman of Winfield, Ill.; and two very close neighbors and friends, Roger and Millie Kiser. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were several brothers and sisters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday in the funeral home. Rev. Richard K. Harry, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. George Allen 'Sam' Hoffman George Allen "Sam" Hoffman, 84, of Sigel died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, in Jefferson Manor Health Center. Born Sept. 11, 1923, in Brookville, he was the son of Allen and Keziah Moore Hoffman. He was married May 30, 1948, in Dora, Pa., to the former Iris Leanna Kunselman who survives. Mr. Hoffman served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was the labor relations manager and negotiator with PPG Industries of Pittsburgh. Mr. Hoffman was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Brookville. He was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, James A. Hoffman of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Timothy L. Hoffman of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Beckie L. Pahner of Foxfire, N.C., Dee A. Canavan of Sigel and Patti L. Schaffer of Litchfield, N.H.; one brother, Reuben Hoffman of Fonda, N.Y.; a sister, Katherine Hottel of Russell; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two brothers, Robert Hoffman and Charles Hoffman, and a sister, Lillian Porter. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Rev. Thomas J. Parlette will officiate. Interment will be in the Brookville Cemetery, Brookville The family suggests memorials may be made to the Brookville YMCA, Sigel Volunteer Fire Department or the Presbyterian Church of Brookville. Angela 'Nellie' E. Mierzwa, 83, formerly of 119 Clearfield St., Oil City, died at 10:35 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Oil City after a brief illness. Born Jan. 8, 1924, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late John and Apolonia Kietres Martyna. She attended the Assumption School. Mrs. Mierzwa, a homemaker, enjoyed listening to classical music and polkas and spending time with her family. She was married in the Assumption B.V.M. Church to Paul J. Mierzwa (Mizwa) on July 22, 1945. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2001. She is survived by three sons, Robert J. Mizwa and his wife Linda of Pittsburgh, Richard P. Mizwa of Oil City and Paul J. Mizwa Jr .and his wife Sheila of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Melissa Mizwa-Nemec of Stanford, Conn., Joshua Mizwa of Pittsburgh, Natasha Mizwa, Randall Mizwa and Sean Mizwa, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Joseph Martyna, a resident of the Soldiers & Sailors Home in Erie, and Albert George Martyna of Oil City; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Lottie) Tobin of Erie. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Patz. Their will be no viewing or visitation. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Bishop McManaman Memorial Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery. Msgr. John W. Swoger, pastor of Assumption B.V.M. Church, will preside. Memorials may be made to the Assumption Church or to VNA Hospice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Reinsel Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.reinselfuneralhome.com Keith Eugene Zuck, 61, of 476 Pritchard Road, Oil City, died at 3:41 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born June 7, 1946, in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of Marian Zuck Huff Foster and the late Ivan Huff. Mr. Zuck served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for Mushroom Trucking and Louis Kraft Concrete. Mr. Zuck enjoyed welding, playing on his tractor and helping others. He married the former Alice A. Armstrong, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Marian Foster, of Oil City; a son, Keith Eugene Zuck Jr., of Oil City; a daughter, Nilacathiron Zuck May of Oil City; three grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan Allen Huff and Jerry Lee Huff, both of Oil City; two sisters, Donna Jean Huff of Oil City and Darlene Sue Sharrar of Venus, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Franklin Salvation Army with Lt. Ralph Hardiman officiating. Interment will be in the Dempseytown Lutheran Cemetery. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
