The Derrick, August 28, 2007: Marjorie R. Smith, Owasso, Okla., formerly of Oil City Cecil C. Ward Jr., Greenville Susanna H. "Susie" Jernovics Ware, of Durham, N.C. Mary Lou West, West Main Street, Clarion Marjorie Reynolds Smith Marjorie Reynolds Smith, 59, of Owasso, Okla., a former Oil City resident, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007. Born May 23, 1948, in Kane, she was the daughter of Irel P. and Grace G. Wesley Reynolds. Mrs. Smith worked for many as a third grade teacher at Smith Elementary School in Owasso and was a member of the Owasso Education Association. She also was a member of the Odyssey of the Mind, Order of Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Smith loved teaching, traveling and mowing her lawn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith. Surviving are two sons, Bryon Smith and his wife, Tina, of Tahlequah, Okla., and Mat Smith of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Braeden Smith and Jordan Roach; and her mother, Grace Roy of Escanaba, Mich. Mrs. Smith also had many cousins and extended family in the Oil City area. In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Reynolds. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 27, in the First Presbyterian Church in Owasso with the Rev. Leah Hrachovee officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. Cecil C. Ward Jr., 41, of 411 South Main St., Greenville, died at 9:02 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in his residence following an extended illness. Born Thursday, Nov. 11, 1965, in Mercer, he was the son of Cecil C. Ward Sr. and Eleanor May Whitehouse Ward. Mr. Ward was employed at the MCAR Workshop for 26 years. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Ward loved country music, cars, Lincoln logs and watching car and motorcross races. He also enjoyed fishing and boating. Surviving are his father, Cecil C. Ward Sr. and companion, Betty Rae Clarke of Franklin; his mother, Eleanor May Whitehouse Ward of Sandy Lake; three sisters, Linda Haylett of Gainesville, Fla., Patricia Hedglin and husband, Sam, of Sandy Lake and Betty Lou Zarlingo and husband, William, of New Castle; two brothers, James R. Ward and wife, Pam, of Corsica and Dale E. Ward of Polk and his companion, Donna Alabran; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and great-aunts and great-uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Franklin and Katherine Sisco Logue Ward, Clara Ethel Norcross, Ward Seidle and George Lawrence Harold Whitehouse and Anna May Winder. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Road, Hermitage. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church. The family requests donations be made to MCAR or to the American Cancer Society. Susanna H. "Susie" Jernovics Ware, 87, of Durham, N.C., a longtime resident of Franklin, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in the Durham Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Born Nov. 8, 1919, in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of Heinz and Lina Decker. In March of 1956 she and her husband, Josef Jernovics, and two sons emigrated from Germany. They were sponsored by Franklin's First United Methodist Church Baracca Class. Mrs. Ware spent most of her life working. Arriving in Franklin not knowing one word of English, she enrolled in English courses while working at the Miller Equipment Co. The entire family became proud United States citizens in May 1961. Next she became a draftsman and worked initially in the engineering department of the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. and then at Joy Mining Machinery. While a resident of Franklin, Mrs. Ware was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In 2005, she relocated to Durham to be closer to her son, John, and his family. Survivors include two sons, Klaus Klause and his wife, Betty, of Alamogordo, N.M., and John Jernovics and his wife, Sue, of Durham, N.C.; six grandchildren, Greg, Tom and Bill Klause and Jennifer, Jim and John Jernovics Jr.; and six great-grandchildren. Her two sons are former residents of Franklin. She also is survived by one sister, Dora Wetzel of Berlin, Germany. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church, 1102 Liberty St., Franklin, with the Rev. Rick Harry officiating. It was her request that those who knew her shed only a tear at her passing but celebrate her life. Mary Lou West Mary Lou West, 74, of West Main Street, Clarion, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in the Clarion Hospital. Mrs. West was a homemaker, born Oct. 19, 1932, in Toby Township, Clarion County.
