The Derrick, August 9, 2007: Donald J. Coogan, Oil City Rosella M. Wilson, Shippenville A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Siverly for Donald J. Coogan, 70, of Oil City. Mr. Coogan died Feb. 28, 2007, at UPMC Northwest, following an extended illness. Msgr. Robert Smith, a cousin of Mr. Coogan's, will preside at Saturday 's Mass. Mr. Coogan's cremains will be interred at Calvary Cemetery following Mass. Mr. Coogan was born in Oil City, a son of the late James and Agnes Gregory Coogan. He attended both St. Joseph and Oil City schools. He was employed for more than 30 years at Foster Forbes Glass in Rouseville and served as a union delegate for several years of his employment. He also was a member of several fraternal organizations in Oil City. Mr. Coogan is survived by one son, Terrence Coogan and his wife, Cindy, of Titusville; one grandson, T.J. Coogan of Titusville; and three adopted daughters, Patty, Debra and Lynn, all of Oil City. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Sloan of Oil City and Jean Bayer of Grayslake, Ill.; one brother, Richard Coogan of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Coogan was preceded in death by his adopted son, Virgil; two brothers, Paul and Francis J.; his special friend, Ella Ayers; two brothers-in-law, George Sloan and Kirby Bayer; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Betty Coogan. Wilson, 83, of Shippenville, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, 2007, at her residence. The David C. McEntire Funeral Home in Knox is in charge of arrangements.
