Simms, New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Franklin Lloyd Leroy Snyder, 442 Congress Hill Road, Franklin Grace M. White, Kittanning, formerly of Franklin and East Brady Alfred V. Bolt Alfred V. Bolt, 71, of 1186 Bell Town Road, Sligo, died at 1:O5 p. m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at the Church of God Church Camp in Barnett Township, Jefferson County, following an apparent heart attack. Born March 7, 1936, in New Kensington, he was the son of William and Mary Elizabeth Such Bolt. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Bolt was employed for 21 years on the blasting crew at the former C&K Coal Co. of Sligo, retiring in 1990. He operated a small vacuum cleaner sales and repair service at the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of God at Five Points near Sligo. Mr. Bolt served as a Pennsylvania state constable in Piney Township for 12 years. He served as a scout master with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Mr. Bolt enjoyed tinkering, singing, photography and going to Sligo for coffee every morning. He was married June 3, 1966, to the former Donna Huffman, who survives. Also surviving are a son and his wife, Donald and Valerie Bolt of Sligo; a daughter and her fiancâ?se, Jennifer Bolt and Tracy Bigley of Knox; and four grandchildren, Donald Bolt Jr., Mason Kane Bolt, Cassandra Jean Bolt and Melody Bednar. He also is survived by three sisters, Verna May Snair of Westfield, N.Y., Mary Dale of North East and Harriet Pattric of Erie; and two brothers, Frank Bolt and Richard Bolt, both of New Kensington. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bolt was preceded in death by three sisters, Georgene Holmes, Edie Brown and Dorothy Simon; and one brother, William Bolt Jr. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Varner Funeral Home, Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Campbell, pastor of the Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville. Edward Kinchley Evans Jr. Edward Kinchley Evans Jr., 82, of Emlenton, died suddenly Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2007, in his residence of natural causes. He was a noted playwright and actor, artist and veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Ronald C. Hagerty, 84, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Oil City and Saegertown, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 5, 1923, in Oil City, he was the son of Harry S. and Millie Mae Sadler Hagerty. Mr. Hagerty graduated in 1940 from Oil City High School and attended Indiana and Penn State universities. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the destroyer USS Izard in the Pacific Theater. He enjoyed attending annual reunions with his fellow seamates. Mr. Hagerty was an avid musician and could play any instrument. He played in the Penn State Nittany Lion Blue Band and continued his love of music, playing in many bands including the Mummers of New Port Richey until the time of his death. He was retired from FMC of Saegertown where he was a powerhouse operator for 20 years. Mr. Hagerty was married Feb. 10, 1947, to the former Claudine R. McMillen of Oil City. She preceded him in death in February1986. Surviving are four children, James R. Hagerty and wife, Linda, of Franklin, Tim L. Hagerty and wife, Mary Kay, of Franklin, Steve H. Hagerty of Saegertown and Pam S. Szewczyk of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Jill Shull, Jaime O'Neil, Justin Hagerty, Shona Knupp, KariAnn and Megan Szewczyk; and four great-grandchildren, Abbey and Evan Shull, Caden Hagerty and Matthew O'Neil. He also is survived by one brother, Ken Hagerty of Ohio; and one sister, Helen Hetrick of Oil City. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hagerty of Williamsport. Moorhead, 88, of New Bethlehem RD, died Saturday morning, Aug. 11, 2007, in McKinley Health Center, Brookville. Born Aug. 22, 1918, in Deanville, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Earl and Sara Anthony Moorhead. He married Grace Wilson, who preceded him in death March 7, 1998. The Moorheads lived in Deanville, Worthington and New Bethlehem. Mr. Moorhead retired in 1976 from Eljer Plumbingware of Ford City after 30 years of service. His wife worked for G.C. Murphy Co. in New Bethlehem and Kittanning and Monty's Freezer Fresh in Kittanning. He owned race horses at the Meadows in earlier years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed elk hunting. Mr. Moorhead attended the First Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. Surviving are three daughters, Luana McKee and her husband, James, of Worthington, Darla Mechling and her husband, William, of Indiana, Pa., and Cathy Seniow and her husband, Michael,of Avonmore RD; one son, Kenneth R. Moorhead and his wife, Darlene, of Kittanning RD; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Lionel Sayers of Bradford. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Russell Sayers; and his stepmother, Martha Sayers Moorhead. Howard K. Schrum Howard K. Schrum, 75, a resident of Charlotte, Mich., since 1967, formerly of Oil City, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007. Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Oil City, he was the son of Samuel and Genevieve Snow Schrum. Mr. Schrum had been employed as a forming machine operator for Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Charlotte, retiring in 1994. He was a life member of the Oil City Masonic Lodge. Mr. Schrum was a member of the West Carmel Congregational Church of Charlotte. He was married to the former Betty Jane Aaron, who died in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Ricky Schrum and wife, Jean, of Olivet, Mich., and Daniel Schrum and wife, Cynthia, of Ottawa, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Lucas Schrum, Chanda Schrum, Amy Davidson and husband, Sean, and Eric Schrum. He also is survived by three sisters, Patricia Thomas of Pennsylvania and Mary Carl and Deloris Kolvalchek, both of Ohio; and a loving friend, Marlene Siefert of Charlotte. Simms, 94, of 2606 Haven Drive, New Port Richey, Fla., a former Franklin resident, died June 12, 2007, following a four-month illness. Born in Western New York, he was one of six brothers and sisters reared in an agricultural setting. He was the last survivor. Mr. Simms was a 1935 graduate of St. Bonaventure University in petroleum engineering. Following graduation he was employed by Clark Brothers, a subsidiary of Dresser Industries, Olean, N.Y. Later he was transferred to Houston, Texas, and subsequently he was employed by Standard Oil of Indiana in Brownsville, Texas, and Whiting, Ind. He retired in 1978 from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in Franklin. While residing in Franklin, Mr. Simms was a member of the Elks and Masons and was president of the Franklin Club in 1972. He served the community in various civic functions. Mr. Simms loved playing golf, card games, crossword puzzles and schnauzers. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, New Port Richey. Surviving are his wife, Ruth, whom he married in 1986; two sons, James Simms and wife, Pamela, of Franklin and Charles Simms of New Port Richey; and three grandchildren, Christopher and Bradley Simms of Demotte, Ind., and James Simms of Japan. Also surviving are stepchildren, Denny and Sandy Clark of Elizabeth City, N.C., Mary Coe of New Port Richey, Fla., Betty and Mike Judy of Fairport, N.Y., and their children and grandchildren; two sisters-in-law. Teresa Simms and Doris Conover; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Simms was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, who died in 1985; his parents, James and Maude Simms; three brothers, Harry, Glenn and Frank; and two sisters, Beatrice and Edna. Lloyd Leroy Snyder, 88, of 442 Congress Hill Road, Franklin, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born July 9, 1919, in Worth Township, he was the son of Glenn W. and Pearl Perrine Snyder. Mr. Snyder retired in 1980 after working more than 35 years as head of the dairy department at the A&P Grocery Store in Franklin. He was a member of the Congress Hill Church of God. Mr. Snyder was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching the harness racing at the Stoneboro Fair. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his family, camping and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. Mr. Snyder attended all family functions and events. He was married Oct. 14, 1945, to Ruth M. Marsteller, who died in 1988. Surviving are five children, Dennis L. Snyder and wife, Carol, of Utica, John C. Snyder and wife, Patti, and Shirley Thatcher and husband, Charles, all of Franklin, and Darlene Plowman and Cindy Dutko and husband, James, all of Cooperstown; 14 grandchildren, Sandy Moore and husband, Abe, of Reno; Bryan Thatcher and wife, Denise, Eric Plowman and wife, Stacey, Mindy Snyder and Kayla Snyder, all of Franklin; Darla Plowman, James Dutko, Benjamin Dutko and Andrew Dutko, all of Cooperstown; Craig Plowman and wife, Peggy, and Stephanie Snyder, all of Oil City; Dennis Snyder Jr. and wife, Terena, of Albion; and Jason Snyder and Brittany Snyder, both of Utica; and 11 great-grandchildren, Dakoda Barnett, Austen Barnett, Courtney Moore, Brittany Moore and Eric Moore, all of Reno; Amanda Moore and Tori Snyder, both of Oil City; and Brady Thatcher, Bailee Thatcher, Ethan Plowman and Thomas Kistler, all of Franklin. He also is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Janet and Richard Wright of Cranberry Township and June and Lawrence Pessia of Bradford. Also surviving are a special friend and her family: Betty Jane Beers of Franklin; her son, Jeff Beers and wife, Kathy, of Indiana, Pa., and their children, J.B., Lindsey and Rachelle; and her daughter, Rebecca Beers and husband, Bill Stienbacker of Ciccro, N.Y., and their daughter, Erin Shultz of Kokomo, Ind. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Snyder; two brothers, Walter and Gerald Snyder; a sister, Twila Hulon; and a son-in-law, Daryl Plowman. White, 81, a resident of the Kittanning Care Center, Manor Township, Armstrong County, formerly of Franklin and East Brady, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, in the care center. Born June 14, 1926, in Richland Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of William E. and Gertrude McCall Donaldson. She was a 1944 graduate of East Brady High School. Mrs. White worked in the dietary department at Polk State School and Hospital and was a sales clerk at Shaw's Shoe Store and Murphy's 5 & 10, both in Franklin. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Brady's Bend Township. Mrs. White was married Sept. 6, 1947, to Richard E. White, who died in 1989. She and her family enjoyed their cottage on Goose Creek at Chautauqua Lake, New York. She enjoyed crafts, jitterbugging, flea markets and garage sales and was always the life of the party. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph E. (Diane) Hall III of Howard, Ohio, and Ms. Pamela S. White and companion, Gary Plowman, of East Brady; and three grandsons, Thomas Heffernan and Justin Heffernan, both of Franklin, and Ralph E. Hall IV of Florida. She also is survived by one brother and his wife, William E. and Mary Donaldson of East Brady; and one sister, Lenora Satterlee of Brady's Bend. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. White was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph R. Hall; two sisters, Ruth A. Mellish and Mary Evelyn Ruth; and a special friend, Richard Silvis. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
