The Derrick, August 29, 2007: Sara E. Bindas, 634 N. Broad St., Grove City Susan Karen Pershern Kellogg, Casper, Wyo., formerly of Oil City Sara E. Bindas, 90, of 634 N. Broad St., Grove City, formerly of Sandy Lake Township, died at 10:02 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in Grove City Medical Center after a short illness. Born July 9, 1917, in Worth Township, Mercer County, she was the daughter of Lloyd C. and Eva U. Gilmore Montgomery. She was a graduate of St. John Country School in Worth Township. Mrs. Bindas was a homemaker and along wit her husband, John, owned and operated a sheep and poultry farm for many years in Sandy Lake Township. She was a member of the Schofield United Methodist Church of Millbrook where for many years she served as president of the Missionary Society and taught Sunday school and played the piano for Sunday school and church services. Mrs. Bindas was a 50-year member of the Millbrook Grange where she served as chaplain. She was a member of Lady Worth Rebekah Lodge No. 328 for more than 50 years, holding the offices of district deputy president, past noble grand and secretary. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also was a member and served as president and secretary of the Happy Homemakers Club of Sandy Lake Township for more than 50 years. In early years, she served as a Cub Scout leader. She was married Aug. 3, 1940, to John Bindas Jr., who preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1993. Surviving are two daughters, Margie L. Bindas of Grove City and Mrs. Robert J. (Amy) Gildersleeve of Grove City; three sons, Lloyd D. Bindas and wife, Nancy, of Sandy Lake, John H. Bindas and wife, Norma, of Hadley and Nelson L. Bindas and wife, Diane, of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Bert H. Montgomery of Sandy Lake; and a sister-in-law, Geneva Montgomery of Plantation, Fla. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bindas was preceded in death by three brothers, Lynn, Delmar and Herman Montgomery; and three sisters-in-law, Blanche, Dorothy and Julia Montgomery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. James G. Young, pastor of Methodists United in Faith, Millbrook, and the Rev. Philip H. Chalfant, pastor the Coolspring Presbyterian Church, Mercer, co-officiating. The Interment and committal service will be held in Mount Irwin Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County. Susan Karen Pershern Kellogg Susan Karen Pershern Kellogg of Casper, Wyo., formerly of Oil City, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, in the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver after losing her battle with scleroderma and pulmonary fibrosis. Born July 1, 1953, in Denver, Colo., she was the daughter of William and Virginia Pershern. She grew up in Laramie, Wyo., where she attended grade schools, high school and college, having graduated in 1972 from Laramie High School. On April 28, 1973, she was married in Laramie to Kirk Kellogg, who survives. The family moved from Laramie in 1978 with stops in Tennessee, Pennsylvania and South Dakota, with the Kelloggs returning to Wyoming in 1998. Mrs. Kellogg was honored in 1983 as one of Tennessee's Outstanding Young Women of the Year, representing Dayton, Tenn. She transferred from Pennsylvania with TCI to manage South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming. During her 20-year career in communications she won numerous honors and awards for her accomplishments. In March 2006 she was honored at a gala event in Orlando, Fla., by Comcast Spotlight as Presidents Club Manger of the Year, representing the South West Region. Mrs. Kellogg had many joys in her life. Her interests included spending time with her family, being the best nana, decorating her home, making flower arrangements, planning events and boating. She had a way of making holidays and family gatherings special to everyone. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Kori Greene and husband, Todd, and their children, Stephen, Samuel and Spencer, all of Oil City; two sons, Kody and wife, Shelly, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kristopher and wife, Autumn, and their daughter, Kenzy Sue, of Casper, Wyo.; her parents, Bill and Gina Pershern of Virginia; her brother, Bryan, and wife, Kathy, of Dallas, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousinsk nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Steven John Pershern. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Casper, Wyo.
