The Derrick, August 1, 2007: Phyllis J. "Pooh" Crise, Marienville James Arnold Henderson, 632 Creek Road, Cooperstown Charles A. Loveless, Meadville, formerly of Oil City Phyllis J. "Pooh" Crise of Marienville died at 10:57 p.m. Monday, July, 30, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Sept. 6, 1937, at Zimmerman Hill, Elk County, she was the daughter of John and Martha Clyde Zimmerman. Mrs. Crise was retired as a mail carrier and also from the Kendall Insurance Agency in Marienville after 18 years of service. In addition to her jobs, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her beloved cat, Tootsie, and helping her Trail's End Restaurant family. Mrs. Crise was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was married March 28, 1959, to Richard M. "Max" Crise, who preceded her in death July 9, 1990. Surviving are one son, Richard A. Crise of Vowinckel; one daughter, Maxine "Missie" McDonald and husband, Mike, of Vowinckel; and two granddaughters, Micki McDonald and Maryann Gruber and husband, Jim. She also is survived by three sisters, Wilma Latona and husband, Sam, of Jamestown, N.Y., Elizabeth Hetrick of Marienville and Linda Shields and husband, Dave, of Zanesville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Dick, Harry, Clyde and Edward; and one sister, JoAnn Shaffer. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Marienville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice. James Arnold Henderson, 79, of 632 Creek Road, Cooperstown, died at 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following an extended illness. Born March 8, 1928, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Frank & Miriam Orcutt Henderson. He was a graduate of Oil City Senior High School were he was a four-year letterman in football. Mr. Henderson previously had been employed at Guy C. Smith Auto, Oil Well Supply, New York Central Railroad and the Worthington Corp. He retired from Henderson Electric in Titusville. An avid Steelers fan, he enjoyed artistic painting, reading, fishing, playing cards and cutting grass at the cottage. Mr. Henderson was married Sept. 7, 1948, in Christ Episcopal Church to the former Jeannine Marie Metz, who survives. They had their marriage blessed several months later in St. Stephen Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children and their spouses, Dean and Paula Henderson pf Meadville, Brierle and Phillip Williams of Chapmanville and Kim and Nancy Henderson of Oil City; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Abby, Michael and William Henderson and Jami and Michelle Williams. He also is survived by his in-laws, Ed and Sue Metz of Utica; a cousin, Skippy Luden of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, William and Alice Cochran and Donald and JoAnn Henderson. Condolences may be sent at www.reinselfuneralhome.com Charles A. Loveless, 97, of Meadville, formerly of Oil City, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, in the Wesbury Nursing Home in Meadville. Born May 13, 1910, in Oil City, he was the son of Charles Harold and Ethel Burchfield Loveless. He was a 1930 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Loveless owned and operated the Loveless Grocery Store on Fifth Street in Oil City for 43 years. He moved to the Wesbury Community in the early 1990s and while living there, he attended the First Church of God in Meadville. Mr. Loveless was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Loveless was married in Oil City Nov. 30, 1933, to Belva Himes, who preceded him in death Aug. 25, 1989. Surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Delores and Clarence Embleton of Newport News, Va., and Charlene and Samuel Robbins of Austin, Texas; two sons, James H. Loveless of Grovetown, Ga., and Paul H. Loveless of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Loveless was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Leroy Loveless. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Davis, pastor of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Oil City, officiating. Interment will take place in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Township. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Wesbury Community Sunset Auxiliary, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville.
