Albert of Oil City, was stillborn at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Among her survivors are a sister and brother, Zoe and Mason Albert, and her grandparents, Bruce and Pauline Rankin of Emlenton. John R. Barber Jr. John R. Barber Jr., 82, of Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville, a lifetime resident of the area, died at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born June 28, 1925, in Blacktown, he was the son of John R. Barber Sr. and Lois A. Barton Barber. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a machinist. Mr. Barber was a self-employed welder and mechanic and had owned Barber Tire Co. He was a former truck driver and formerly was employed at Coyer Coal Co., Kerry Coal Co., Sechan Limestone and Chutz Coal Co. He was a lifelong member of the Franklin VFW. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Barber was an avid collector of die cast tractors and attended steam engine shows. He was married April 12, 1955, to the former Betty J. Fix, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Ray Barber Jr. of Vineland, N.J., R. Gordon McNany of North Kingsville, Ohio, and Glenn L. McNany of Salem, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Daisy Mae. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. John Paul Botts John Paul Botts, 43, of Norfolk, Va., a Titusville native, son of Betty Botts of Norfolk, brother of Tonya L. Rodgers of Oil City and relative of other local residents, died at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in his residence. Peter J. Curdo, 83, of Lawsonham Road, Rimersburg, formerly of Criswell, Karns City RD 2, died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in the Butler Hospital following a period of failing health. Born Feb. 16, 1924, in West Winfield, Armstrong County, he was the son of Tony Curdo and Clara Lokar Curdo Bonozich. He served with the U.S. Army 101st Infantry Regiment and was wounded in action in Northern France. He received the Purple Heart, the American Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal. After being wounded, he was hospitalized during World War II with Mickey Rooney while Mr. Rooney was being treated for frozen feet. Mr. Curdo retired in 1987 from Witco Corp. in Petrolia where he was employed in the wax packing department. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Brady's Bend. Mr. Curdo was a member of the American Legion Kaylor Post No. 488 of Brady's Bend. He first was married June 25, 1949, in the Holy Trinity Church in East Vandergrift to Katherine Louise "Katie" Zemba, who died Dec. 1, 2001. He then was married Oct. 25, 2003, in St. Patrick Church, Brady's Bend, to Patricia A. Serbey Burns, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Curdo of Karns City and Kathy Lynn Curdo Vaughn and husband, William, of Aliquippa; one son, Peter Richard Curdo and wife, Sarah, of Bruin; three grandchildren, twins Cory and Kara Vaughn of Aliquippa and Grant Edward Curdo of Bruin; and one brother, Leo J. Curdo and wife, Gaye, of Port Royal, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by three stepdaughters and their husbands, Kimberly and David Rupp of Rimersburg, Kathryn and Gary Booth of Sligo and Karen and Dana Davis of Rimersburg; 10 step grandchildren, Shane, Spencer, Sydney, Sutton, Scott, Penny, Devin, Colton, Austin and Nash. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Stephen Curdo, Oct. 12, 1965; one sister, Ann Kranjakovich in 2006; and an infant brother. Harrelson Ricky E. Harrelson, 26, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Oil City, son of Cindy Daniels of Oil City, was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in Raleigh. The Robert W. Jorinscay, 76, of Titus Road, Kennerdell, Rockland Township, died at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born June 30, 1931, in New Salem Township, Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. and Beatrice B. Morris Lyons. Mrs. Jorinscay graduated in 1948 from Red Stone High School in Fayette County. She was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Jorinscay enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, word puzzles, painting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was married in Pittsburgh Nov. 22, 1952, to James A. Jorinscay, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, James A. Jorinscay Jr. and wife, Joy, of Rhode Island, Jeffry A. Jorinscay and wife, Linda, of Meadville, William F. Jorinscay and wife, Lisa, of Oil City, and John A. Jorinscay and wife, Roxanne, of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Agatha Ianuzzi, of Verona; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joy L. McCauley Joy L. McCauley, 77, of Eau Claire, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following an illness. Born Jan. 15, 1930, in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Marjorie Loucks Haese. Mrs. McCauley was a graduate nurse of the Milford School of Nursing in Buffalo, N.Y. She practiced nursing for 30 years at Kane Hospital in Kane and then retired in 1984 from the Franklin Hospital after 10 years of service. She was Protestant by faith. Mrs. McCauley loved crafting in all forms, especially knitting, needlepoint and crocheting. In addition to craftwork, she also was involved in ceramic skills. She was married to Kenneth A. McCauley Sr., who died March 16, 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rick (Lynne) Sullivan of Hilliards and Mrs. Robert (Alayne) Jacobs of Eau Claire; three sons, Ken A. Barnett St., Brookville, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Brookville Hospital. Born Aug. 25, 1921, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of Samuel and Cecelia Yates Shick. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women's Guild. Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker. She was married in Rimersburg Aug. 25, 1948, to Dean Rhodes, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ken Rhodes of Timonium, Md., and Terry Rhodes of Brookville; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Pamela) Herbert of Moon Township; and two granddaughters, Ashley and Cassie Herbert. She also is survived by one brother, Jack Shick of Henderson, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. John Zavacky John Zavacky, 86, of Steubenville, Ohio, formerly of West Mifflin and Cooksburg, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. Born July 3, 1921, in Midway, Ohio, he was the son of Sam and Anna Mularcik Zavacky. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Zavacky was a retired engineer for the Union Railroad. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Duquesne; West Mifflin Coin Club; the Rod and Gun Club of Marienville; and was a past officer of the Robert Burns Post 188 VFW in Duquesne. Mr. Zavacky was the beloved husband of the late Mary Kolcun Zavacky. Surviving are two sons, Francis T. and wife, Jayne, of Steubenville and Robert J. and wife, Marcy, of West Mifflin; three daughters, Mary E. and husband, William Smith of White Oak, Irene A. and husband, William Algeri of West Mifflin and Patricia M. and husband, Ronald Bost of Escondido, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Lewis Zavacky of St. Clairsville, Ohio; a sister, Helen Torok of Blackridge, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.
