'Boots' Mealy Glenn A. "Boots" Mealy, 71, of Tionesta RD 1, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, in his home surrounded by his family. He had lived in the Wolf's Corners area all of his life. Born April 21, 1936, in Washington Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Allen and Verna Wert Mealy. Mr. Mealy worked at the Forest Hardware, built homes and police barracks, and most recently worked for KIT Coal Co. of Strattanville. He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Venus. Mr. Mealy was married Aug. 4, 1961, to Kay E. Bills, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dale (Mary Jane) Allio of Tionesta RD 1, Mrs. Gary (Amy) Allio of Pleasantville and Mrs. Steve (Alice) Fretz of San Antonio, Texas; and nine grandchildren, Rachel and Maria Allio, Melissa, Rebecca, Craig, Sarah and Lydia Allio, and Corissa and Nathan Fretz. He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Warren (Darlene) Shotts of Powder Springs, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert (Charlotte) Mealy. Mr. Mealy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Mealy; and a sister, Olive Mae English. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with pastors Rich Tygert and Denny Weaver presiding. William Joseph Ricker William Joseph Ricker, 63, of Staphano Street, Clarion, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Clarion. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Friday in The Derrick. Edna J. Smith Edna J. Smith, 90, of Oil City, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in her home. Born Nov. 22, 1916, in Siverly, she was a daughter of the late Frederick O. Johnson and Anna Jacobson Johnson of Sweden. Mrs. Smith was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was the last surviving member of her seven siblings. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold L. Smith, and her son, Arnold L. Smith Jr. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Tarr and husband, Don, and Kay Daugherty and husband, James; and her daughter-in-law, Beverly Smith Marvin. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Tony Tarr, Jean Tiesma, Chris Tarr, Kelly Daugherty and Arnold L. Smith III; nine great-grandchildren, Kirsten Morrison, Katie Sarver, Becky Sarver, Jessica and Ian Tarr, Robert Tarr and Christopher, Brandon and Justin Smith; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Chance Morrison. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no viewing. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Hilton "Buck" Young, 66, of Strattanville RD, Clarion Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Shippenville, following a short illness. Born May 28, 1941, in Limestone Township, he was the son of Robert William and Carrie Marie Bish Young. Mr. Young was a 1959 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School. He served as a signal corpsman during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Army from December 1965 through December 1969. Mr. Young was retired from the Glen-Geary Brick Plant in Summerville where he worked for more than 20 years. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Young enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and watching sports. Surviving are two sisters, Helen Daly of Summerville and Frances Hollobaugh and husband, Richard, of New Bethlehem; a sister-in-law, Prudy Young of Corsica; three brothers, Russell Young and wife, Vergie, of Franklin, and Emery and Harry Young, both of Strattanville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and William Young; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Daly. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. James Dietrich officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in New Bethlehem.
