Swineford, Summerville William F. Wolbert, Tylersburg Getting it right - Elizabeth L. "Betty' Moffett Norma M. Baker Norma M. Baker, 75, of Culver City, Calif., formerly of Franklin, wife of Robert Paul Baker and sister of William Shaffer of Raymilton and Pete Shaffer of Franklin, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, in her home. She was the daughter of the late Millard and Della DeLong Shaffer of Franklin. Jerome L. "Jerry" Davis, 69, of 2051 Rocky Grove Ave., Franklin, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 1007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born April 28, 1938, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of George and Florence Davis. He attended Rocky Grove High School. Mr. Davis had been employed for 311/2 years as a set up man at Franklin Steel. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Davis was an avid fisherman, taking his children, grandchildren or neighborhood children along. He also enjoyed hunting, camping and following the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed time spent with his dog, Jasper. He was married in 1964 to the former Darlene Baker, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jodi Long and husband, Robert, of Polk; a son, Jeffrey Davis and wife, Dawn, of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Davis of Franklin. He also is survived by a sister, Lenora Felmlee of Meadville; a brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Karen Phillips of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louise and Robert Baker; a brother, Lester Holloway; and four sisters, Mary Allman, Verda Perry, Lucy George and Georgina Williams. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Lea A. Guiney, pastor of the East Grove United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the VNA of Venango County, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301, or to The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, 16323. Edward E. Matthews, 75, of Route 208, Knox, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 28, 1931, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of William and Thelma Fleming Matthews. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Ida Matthews, upon the death of his parents. Mr. Matthews was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was stationed in Alaska and repaired power units on the Air Force jets. He was employed as an inspector at the Knox Glass Plant, retiring in March 1985 after 34 years of service. Mr. Matthews was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville. He was a member of the Edenburg Masonic Lodge No. 550 of Knox, the New Castle Consistory and the Shrine Club of Clarion County. Mr. Matthews enjoyed painting houses, deer hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he loved to play cards and games. He was married June 14, 1957, in St. Paul Lutheran Church near Knox by the Rev. Lewis Fox to the former Nancy L. Hamilton, who survives. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June. Also surviving are three children, Shelley Seth and husband, David, of Emlenton, Tim Matthews and wife, Debbie, of Knox, and Brenda Reed of Chesapeake, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Whitney, Blake, Lacey and Jared Matthews, Andrew, Ryan and Rachel Seth, Angela Gerics and husband, Joe, Leah Matthews, and Amanda, Brock and Colby Reed; and one great-grandson, Gabriele Matthew Reed. He also is survived by a brother, William "Buck" Matthews and wife, Esther, of Elk City; a brother-in-law, Keith Hamilton and wife, Nancy; five sisters-in-law, Linda Best and husband, Harold, Barbara Reed, Patricia Yurkanin and husband, George, Susan Cherico and husband, Bruce, and Bonnie Fazio and husband, Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward E. Matthews Jr.; and a sister, Billie Jean Wright. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., Ohio and Penn streets, Knox. Visitation also will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Main St., Shippenville, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. Gary Hilfiger, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery near Knox. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Main St., Shippenville, 16254; the Shriners Hospital of Erie, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, 16505; or to a charity of one's choice. Frank L. Swineford Frank L. Swineford, 59, of Summerville, son of Burton M. Swineford of Summerville and husband of Nancy M. Bish Swineford, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. William F. Wolbert William F. Wobert, 86, of Tylersburg died Tuesday evening, Aug. 21, 2007, in the Golden Liiving Center, Shippenville, where he had been a resident for the past two months. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Borland Funeral Home Inc. of Leeper. "Betty" Moffett, 66, of 806 Colbert Ave., Oil City, died at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 2007, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Among her survivors is a sister, Ruth Brozeski of Blairsville.
