The Derrick, August 10, 2007: Raymond Kenneth Martin, Harrisville Russell W. Silvis, Tidioute Rosella M. Wilson, Shippenville Raymond Kenneth Martin Raymond Kenneth Martin, 83, of Hovis Road, Harrisville, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a sudden illness. Born May 14, 1924, in Clintonville, he was the son of James Austin Martin and Alma Bell Martin. Mr. Martin was educated at Clintonville High School. Mr. Martin worked in the oil fields in southern Venango County and northern Butler County. He also was employed by a construction union based in Butler. He enjoyed hunting and trapping. Mr. Martin is survived by two brothers, Edwin Martin of Beaver Falls and O. Eugene Martin and his wife, Helen, of Grove City; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers, Harvey Ron Martin, Harry Martin, Glenn Martin, Clarence Martin, Frederick Martin, John Lewis Martin, Clifford Wayne Martin, Earl Martin and infant brother Robert Martin. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Patterson, a retired Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will take place at East Unity Cemetery. Russell W. Silvis, 78, of Tidioute, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Erie following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Mayburg, he was the son of Dave and Margorite Blauser Silvis, who both preceded him in death. He was married in September 1953 to Sara Eisenman, who preceded him in death. Mr. Silvis was a lifelong resident of Forest County and was employed by Harmon Trucking as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 during the Korean conflict. Mr. Silvis is survived by six sons, George Silvis of Carabell, Fla., Kenneth Silvis and his wife, Virginia, of Oil City, Paul Silvis and his special friend, Tishia, of Oil City, Peter Silvis and his wife, April, of Clarion, James Silvis Sr. and his wife, Lean, of Tidioute, and Henry Silvis of Tidioute. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one sister, Neetie Boyde of Northeast. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Silvis was preceded in death by three brothers, Perry, Ed and George; two sisters, Gladys Rubshaw and Wanda Carbaugh; and four sons, Norman Silvis, Michael Silvis, Walter Silvis and Russell Silvis. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in funeral home with the Rev. David Poulson, pastor of St. Michael Church in Fryburg, presiding. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery. The family suggests gift be made to the Faller Funeral Home to help with funeral costs. Rosella M. Wilson, 83, of Shippenville, died suddenly Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at her residence. Born Jan. 31, 1924, at Cheerful, Elk Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Beichner Hartle. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, puzzle books and watching television. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing bingo, canning, cooking, baking and card clubs. Mrs. Wilson was of the Catholic faith. She married John Nelson Wilson of Strattanville on Feb. 28, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2002. Mrs. Wilson is survived by seven children, Eleanor J. "Sue" Meier of Knox, D.J. Wilson and his wife, Alex, of Parker, Mary C. "Mazee" Hurrelbrink and her husband, Max, of Knox, Samuel F. Wilson and his wife, Diane, of Mounds, Okla., Raymond C. "Dewey" Wilson and his wife, Nancy, of Strattanville, Rose A. Williams and her husband, David, of Knox, and Patricia L. "Pattie" Schmader and her husband, Gerry, of Lucinda; and one sister, Clara Clinger of Brookville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, Alisa Hake, Daniella Carter, Tina Cochran, Terri Best, Trudi Hurrelbrink, Tammi Hurrelbrink, John Wilson, Jennifer Berkery, Monica Cussins, Becky Williams, Brad Schmader, Becky Schmader, Jackie Walney, Ricky Bowser, Kayla Cochran, Natasha Cochran and Shelli Honeycutt; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by three infant children; four sisters, Irene Rapp, Agnes Hartle, Helen Beary and Hilda Knisely; and five brothers, Jake Hartle, Edward Hartle, John Hartle, Raymond "Boots" Hartle and Hank Hartle. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the David C. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of Mt. Joy United Methodist Church at Knox RD 1, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville. The family suggests memorials be made to Clarion Free Library or a charity of one's choice.
