The Derrick, Thursday, July 22, 2004: Richard L. Johnson, Tionesta, formerly of Nottingham Edward Wagner, State Route 417, Franklin Richard L. Johnson Richard L. Johnson, 75, of Tionesta, formerly of Nottingham, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at his home after a prolonged illness. Born in Freemont, he was the son of John A. and Emma Lutot Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a 1947 graduate of Oxford High School. He served in the U.S. Army following graduation. Mr. Johnson was employed as an electrical foreman by the former Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville. He was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Order of Red Men and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Johnson was an avid hunter and sportsman. Surviving are two daughters, Susan, wife of Leon Holman, and June M. VanderHoef, both of Rising Sun, Md.; one son, John S. Johnson of Vowinckel; and the mother of his children, Anna Trimble Hurst. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Freemont United Methodist Cemetery. Edward Wagner Edward Wagner, 76, of State Route 417, Franklin, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1928, in Oil City, he was the son of Carl and Tillie Swiezawska Wagner. He grew up in Dempseytown and attended elementary school there. He was a 1950 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Wagner was an iron worker with Local 348 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers and had worked construction for 35 years in the local area as well as in neighboring states. He was the first iron worker to have only one arm and was affectionately called "Hook" by his co-workers because of the hook at the end of his artificial arm. He was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge, the Franklin Eagles, the Franklin VFW and the Polish National Alliance. Mr. Wagner was an avid gardener and enjoyed country music, western movies, fishing, working on cars, socializing with family and friends and going shopping with his daughter. He was married April 24, 1965, to the former Joan Schnitzer, who died Sept. 16, 1980. Surviving is a daughter, Lorrene Kay Wagner of Dempseytown. He also is survived by two sisters, Pat Selden and husband, Elwood, of Franklin, and Irene Jean Walker and husband, Elmo, of Dallas, Texas; three nephews, Kyle Selden and wife, Melissa, of Mercer, James Walker and wife, Laurie, of Dallas, Texas, and Larry Walker of Greenville; two nieces, Lisa Selden Paulton of Indiana and Sandra Jean Johnston and husband, Wayne, of Waxahacie, Texas; and cousins Francis Krawczyk, Cecelia Krawczyk, Delores Huefner, Stan Huefner and Frank Lutz, all of Oil City. Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. A vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick Church, Franklin, with the Rev. Robert Manning of St. Patrick Church presiding. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Franklin.
