Born April 7, 1937, in Titusville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. Landas and Alma Crawford Landas Donovan. Mrs. Burlingame owned and operated Burlingame Notary and Tax Service in Pleasantville. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Acacia Chapter No. 30. Mrs. Burlingame enjoyed walking, gardening, reading and bowling. She was married Oct. 6, 1962, at Beaverdam to Glenn L. Burlingame, who survives. Also surviving are Vicki Rodgers and companion, Todd Dunkle, of Titusville and Michael Burlingame and wife, Karen, of Albion; five grandchildren, Steven Rodgers and wife, Shauna, of Fort Hood, Texas, Kevin Rodgers of Titusville, Angie Rodgers of Titusville, Matthew Burlingame of Townville and Beckah Burlingame of Albion; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden Rodgers and Darren Middleton. She also is survived by her stepmother, Waunetta Landas of Spartansburg; two sisters, Garnet Upton and husband, Jim, of Hilltown and Donna Roessner and husband, Tim, of Titusville; four brothers, Frank Landas and wife, Barbara, of Albany, N.Y., William Donovan and wife, Peg, of Hydetown, Donald Donovan and wife, LeeAnn, of Titusville and David Donovan of Titusville; numerous nieces and nephews; and the family dog, Princess. Cope Walter E. Cope, 75, of 3335 South Roberts Road, Fredonia, N.Y., formerly of Shippenville, died suddenly Monday afternoon, July 5, 2004, in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, N.Y. Born Nov. 5, 1928, in Shippenville, he was the son of Charles and Anna Goughler Cope. Mr. Cope moved in 1953 to the Dunkirk-Fredonia area where he founded Cope Builders in 1965. Active in the Masons, he held many offices including master of Forest Lodge No. 166, F. & A.M.; high priest of Dunkirk Chapter No. 191, Royal Arch Masons; illustrious master of Dunkirk Council No. 25, Cryptic Masons; and commander of Dunkirk Commandery No. 40, Knights Templar. He was elected to membership in the Empire State Priory No. 46. In 1992, Mr. Cope was awarded the designation of Knight of the York Cross of Honour, the highest honorary degree in the York Rite of Freemasonry. Mr. Cope was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia and the Coldsprings Conservation Club of Randolph, N.Y. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed snowmobiling. Mr. Cope was married Nov. 20, 1948, to Irene Sliker, formerly of Tionesta. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Edward Cope of Dunkirk, N.Y., Gordon Cope and Michael Cope, both of Sheridan, N.Y.; one daughter, Cheryl Franklin of Westfield, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter. He also is survived by three sisters, Edith Baughman of Fryburg, Shirley Arnold of Oil City and Kathryn Johnson of Kane; one brother, Lester Cope of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. "Cliff" Craig, 95, of Bela Road, Parker, died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Clarview Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, following a brief illness. Born Nov. 29, 1908, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Matson A. and Eva Buzard Craig. He attended elementary school for seven years at Blue Goose and one year at Independence Schools. Mr. Craig first was employed as a coal miner for 21 years at Keystone Mining Co. and then was employed for 17 years as a stone crusher operator at Allegheny Minerals. He attended Concord Presbyterian Church. Mr. Craig enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a self-taught fiddle player and piano player. He enjoyed blue grass and country western music and was a well-known musician in the southern Clarion County area. Mr. Craig was married in Rimersburg July 17, 1930, to the former Bessie Christabelle Conner, who died Dec. 16, 1995. They were married for more than 65 years. Surviving are two sons, C. Frank Craig of Sligo and Richard W. Craig and wife, Patricia, of New Castle; a daughter and husband, A. Joanne and James E. Fowler of Warren, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother and wife, Thomas and Garnet Craig of West Monterey; and a number of nieces and nephews. Born May 19, 1952, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Richard and Dolores Russell Fischer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. Mr. Fischer was employed as a health care worker at Polk Center until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. Mr. Fischer was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to hunt with his canine companion, Popcorn. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Fox & Coon Club and the NRA. Mr. Fischer loved gardening and cooking and enjoyed camping and bonfires with his family and friends. Surviving are two sons, Andrew L. Fischer of Erie and Michael J. Fischer of Oil City; and one daughter, Jamie L. Fischer of Oil City. He also is survived by a brother, Daniel Fischer and wife, Margaret, of Stevensville, Md. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fischer was preceded in death by one brother and one sister; and twins Dennis and Darlene, at birth. There will be no visitation. Jack Raymond Lampert II Jack Raymond Lampert II, 24, of Franklin, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Rocky Grove. Born May 3, 1980, in Oil City, he was the son of Jack R. and Dorothy N. Rowe Lampert. He was a 1998 graduate of Cranberry High School. Mr. Lampert spent four years in the U.S. Army in Fort Bragg, N.C., as a communication specialist. While in the military, he always volunteered to be part of the honor guards for military funerals. He last was employed as a drill instructor at VisionQuest in Franklin. Mr. Lampert enjoyed music and spending time with his family and friends, especially his daughter. He was married May 16, 2002, in Fayetteville, N.C., to Shannon R. Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Charles Otto and Nellie Hoven Darr. Mrs. Lawrence was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Lawrence was married March 6, 1943, to John Miller Lawrence, who died Jan. 8, 1998. Surviving are one son, James C. "Beaver" Lawrence and his friend, Deb Kemp, of New Bethlehem; one grandson, Scott James Lawrence and wife, Missy, of Fairmount City; one granddaughter, Sara-Beth Lydia of New Bethlehem; on sister-in-law, Hedi Darr of New Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews. Ostrander, 84, a lifelong resident of East Brady, died at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness. Born July 13, 1920, in East Brady, she was the daughter of Lee M. and Josephine Hohn White. She was a 1937 graduate of the former East Brady High School. Mrs. Ostrander was extremely involved with the Borough of East Brady until ill health prevented her participation. She was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church and was an active member of the ladies auxiliaries of the local veterans organizations. Mrs. Ostrander was a charter member and longtime treasurer of the Hoffman Medical Center Board as well as a member of the Hoffman Housing Board (East Brady Heights), both of East Brady. She also served many years on the East Brady Borough Council until ill health prevented her attendance. For many years, she served on the Board of Assistance for Clarion County and was a former board member of the Clarion Hospital. Mrs. Ostrander was a member of the Clarion County Garden Cub, the Clarion County Historical Society and the Brady's Bend Historical Society. Recognizing the danger of truck traffic losing their brakes entering East Brady on the long steep hill from the Rimersburg direction, she and her late husband, Raymond, arranged with PennDOT to build a siding for trucks to come to a complete stop before preceding down into East Brady. The land for the siding was donated by the Ostranders for this purpose. When the land was needed to build the new fire hall for the borough, she and her husband again donated the lot for the existing structure with the usual $1 exchange between parties for such transactions. She was married May 10, 1940, to Raymond L. Ostrander, who died Dec. 11, 2003. Surviving are two sons, Ray Lee Ostrander of Lancaster and Randy Ostrander of East Brady; and three grandchildren. Shaffer, 95, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Titusville, where she had been a resident since June 9, 1993. Mrs. Shaffer previously lived in Oil City and Brookville and last resided with her daughter in Pleasantville before going to Beverly Healthcare. Born July 31, 1908, in Home Camp, she was the daughter of Earl and Carrie Dressler Brubaker. While living in Oil City and Brookville, Mrs. Shaffer belonged to the Methodist churches. Mrs. Shaffer was married in Jamestown, N.Y., March 23, 1925, to Harold O. Shaffer, who died Feb. 25, 1995. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Avonell Carlson of Pleasantville; two grandchildren, Tim Carlson and wife, Diane, of Lima, Ohio, and Trudy Harvey and husband, David, of Pleasantville; five great-grandchildren, Tim Carlson and wife, Donna, Joanne Carlson, Ryan Harvey and wife, Jen, Eric Harvey and Alison Harvey; and two great-great-grandsons, Zachary Carlson and Cameron Harvey. Mrs. Toy was a member of the Rouseville United Methodist Church where she was active in many activities. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Toy belonged to several card clubs.
