Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GaB.2ACE/571 Message Board Post: Adapted from The Derrick July 5, 2004 EVAN CARLYLE BOYER, 83, of Oil City, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born December 13, 1920, at Franklin RD 2, he was the son of John Fremont Boyer and Gertrude Elsie MacDonnell Boyer. He was a 1940 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. Mr. Boyer was employed by Continental Rubber, General Electric in Erie and Penelec in Oil City and retired in 1986 from Pennzoil Co. in Oil City, where he worked as a welder for 35 years. He was an active member of the Oil City First Church of God, holding various positions including chairman of the board of trustees for 25 years, Sunday school teacher and scoutmaster. Mr. Boyer's hobbies included gardening, welding, building and repair work, especially around his house and the church. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was married in Dempseytown on June 9, 1951, to the former Marilyn Audine Hill, who survives. Also surviving are a daugh! ter, Connie Boyer and husband, Tom Rogers, of Richmond, VA; three sons, Ronald W. Boyer and his wife, Polly S., of Kettering, OH, Donald E. Boyer and his wife, Diane I., of Severn, MD, and Vaughn Leroy Boyer of Tampa, FL; and seven grandchildren: Robert Boyer of Boston, MA, Angela Boyer, Heather Boyer and Christopher Boyer, all of Kettering, and Michael Boyer, Steven Boyer and Rebecca Boyer, all of Severn. He also is survived by a sister, Esther Luethel Geer of Franklin; a brother, James Leo Boyer and his wife, Peggy, of Commerce City, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by six sisters: Elsie Iona Eldridge, Ruby Marie Roemer, Ruth Leona Divil, Grace Vera Boyer, Anna Audine Bloom and Verna Maxine Proctor; and two brothers, Boyd Edward Boyer and Glenn Sylvester Boyer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Osenider Funeral Home. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wedn! esday in the Oil City First Church of God. Funeral services will be he ld at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Brenda Snedden, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Cranberry. The family requests memorial donations be sent to the First Church of God, 11 E. Eighth St., Oil City, 16301.
