    3. The Derrick, Friday, July 23, 2004: Charles L. Carnes, 315 W. Seventh St., Oil City Melisa Ann McMillen, 134 Maplewood Drive, Franklin Mildred A. Moodie, Johnstown, formerly of Oil City Charles L. Carnes Charles L. Carnes, 65, of 315 W. Seventh St., Oil City, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born March 5, 1939, in Oil City, he was a son of Walter L. and Jeanette Shuey Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a 1958 graduate of Oil City High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 16, 1959, to Jan. 27, 1962. Mr. Carnes worked at Universal Stainless and Alloy in Titusville, retiring in 2001 after 37 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Carnes enjoyed golf, his grandson and children. He was married Feb. 22, 1963, to the former Victoria J. Patterson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steven Carnes and his wife, Deborah, of Oil City; a daughter, Sharon Oakes and her husband, Eric, of Rouseville; a grandson, Brandon Oakes; two step-grandchildren, Tad and Kirstie Oakes; and a brother, Allen Carnes and his wife, Jane, of Chesapeake, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be in Rynd Farm Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice. Melisa Ann McMillen Melisa Ann McMillen, 26, of 134 Maplewood Drive, Franklin, formerly of Saltslburg, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, from injuries she suffered in a vehicle accident. Born March 11, 1978, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of Kenneth J. and Evelyn Kuzmin McMillen. She lived in Saltsburg for most of her life before recently moving to Franklin. She was a 1996 graduate of Saltsburg High School and attended Bradford Business School in the medical assistant program. She worked at the Dollar Store in Franklin. Surviving are her parents, Kenneth J. and Evelyn McMillen of Saltsburg; a sister and her husband, Shannon and John Cornell of Sterling, Va.; two nephews, Mason and Gavin Cornell of Sterling, Va.; maternal grandparents Mike and Joann Kuzmin of Avonmore; and paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Clara "Dodo" and Bill Sorbin of Saltsburg. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Homer "Mac" McMillen in 1968. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Curran Funeral Home, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. Peter Peretti officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, 15205-4620. Mildred A. Moodie Mildred A. Moodie, 97, of Johnstown, formerly of Oil City, died at 10:58 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at UPMC Lee Regional. Born March 26, 1907, in Marble, she was a daughter of Joseph Michael and Edith Clarinda Dittman Rapp. Mrs. Moodie worked at the old Community Market and retired from J.C. Penney, both in Oil City. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Johnstown since February 1981. Prior to moving to Johnstown, she was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City. She was also a member of the Oakland Garden Club. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, George B. Moodie; a daughter and her husband, Edith Lynne and Willard Fox of Johnstown; a son and his wife, Samuel B. and Christine Louden Moodie of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Julie Fox, Brian and his wife, the former Laura Ruest, and Timothy and his wife, the former Jamie Carter. Survivors also include a sister, Helen Nelson of Erie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Kenneth, Edward and Joseph Rapp; and four sisters, Irene Garvey, Madeline Mott, Geraldine Reynolds and Alberta Morgan. Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Henderson-Ketterer Funeral Home, Johnstown, where a vigil will be held. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johnstown, with Monsignor Dennis R. Boggs as celebrant. Committal will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
