Franklin, 523 Tippery Road, Seneca Mildred Ann Garis, Garis Lane, Emlenton Brianna Grayce Hays, 180 Hovis Lane, Franklin William L. Jones Sr., 418 Wiley Ave., Franklin Harry C. "Whitey" Cratty Harry C. "Whitey" Cratty, 86, of Parker Pike Road, Parker, Allegheny Township, Butler County, died late Wednesday evening, July 14, 2004, in the Transitional Care Center of Butler Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 17, 1917, in Parker, he was the son of Clarence and Maude Horner Cratty. Mr. Cratty was well-known in the area for operating a junkyard and wrecker service. He retired from Knox Glass Corp. He attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Emlenton and the Open Door Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Mr. Cratty enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his golf cart. He was married in Parker in 1936 to the former Virginia D. Cope, who died March 29, 1994. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Thomas and Kathy Cratty of Parker, Russell and Sonja Cratty of Petrolia, Larry and Diane Cratty of Parker, Harry "Chick" and Emma Cratty of Emlenton and Joyce and Jack Chambers of Parker, with whom Mr. Cratty recently made his home; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He also is survived by a brother, Gerald "Babe" Cratty of Venice, Fla.; a son-in-law, Earl Stalker of Eau Claire; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Cratty was preceded in death by two children, Judy Stalker and Clarence Cratty; three brothers, Donald "Bo" Cratty, Raymond "Tink" Cratty and Leroy "Jack" Cratty; and two sisters, Hazel Cottillion and Dorothy "Tootse" Cooper. Box 411, Eau Claire, 16030. Floyd Finch Floyd Finch, 83, of 1626 Pittsburgh Road, Franklin, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born March 10, 1921, in Oil City, he was the son of Harold E. and Bertha Webber Finch. Mr. Finch was a 1939 graduate of Franklin High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Finch retired in 1982 from Joy Manufacturing after 32 years of service as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Finch was a past master of Myrtle Lodge No. 316, F. & A.M., of Franklin. He also held membership in the BPO Elks No. 110 of Franklin, Franklin Eagles, Franklin Moose, UPMC Auxiliary and was a VNA volunteer. He also was a member of the Senior Citizens Golf League. Mr. Finch enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was married July 7, 1959, to Rita M. Beatty, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard O'Claire and wife, Carol, of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Sheila Finch and husband, Ken Lewis, of Pittsburgh and Cushie Dickert and husband, Dick, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Richard O'Claire II of Columbus, Ohio, Stacy Dickert Conlin and husband, Mike, of Skaneateles, N.Y., Julie Jones and husband, Ken, of Warren, Kim Dickert Wallace and husband, Patrick, of Ligonier, Robin Mullen of Lynn, Mass., and Shannon Mullen of New York, N.Y.; and eight great-grandchildren, Libby and Lauren Jones of Warren, Daniel Conlin of Skaneateles, N.Y., Natalie Wallace of Ligonier, Jordan O'Claire of Columbus, Ohio, Caleb and Nathan O'Claire of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kaitlyn O'Claire of Watertown, N.Y. He also is survived by a sister, Ruby Dickert and husband, Eugene, of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Finch was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold "Bud" Finch, Robert Finch and his triplet siblings, Fred and Francis Finch; two sisters, Irene Beggs and Elaine Krepp; and one son, John Finch. Franklin, 52, of 523 Tippery Road, Seneca, died Thursday evening, July 15, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mildred Ann Garis Mildred Ann Garis, 80, of Garis Lane, Emlenton, Richland Township, Clarion County, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Clarion Hospital following a short illness. Born Aug. 10, 1923, in Turtle Creek, she was the daughter of George H. and Mary Laird Henderson. She was a 1942 graduate of Clarion High School. Mrs. Garis was employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion and she and her husband operated a country general store in Turniphole for 24 years. She later was employed at Emlenton Motor Inn and also worked for Blair Auctioneers. She was a member of St. Petersburg United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star at Parker. She was active in St. Petersburg Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Garis attended many antique auctions and flea markets and was an avid collector of antiques. She was married in Clarion Presbyterian Church Aug. 11, 1945, to William Eugene Garis Sr., who survives. Also surviving are a son, William Eugene Garis Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Emlenton; a daughter, Yvonne Eileen Murray of Bluefield, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, George Henderson and wife, Elaine, of Gahanna, Ohio; one niece; and two nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garis was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Scott Garis; a grandson, Steven Brent Garis; and a sister, Janet Wallace Hartt. Brianna Grayce Hays Brianna Grayce Hays, daughter of Michael Lee Hays Jr. and Kiley Elizabeth Montgomery, 180 Hovis Lane, Franklin, was stillborn Wednesday July 14, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her maternal grandmother, Julie Gordon and husband, Herb, of Franklin; paternal grandfather, William Montgomery of Franklin; paternal grandmother, Kathy Kahle of Franklin; and two aunts, Andrea McCauley of Oil City and Kristy Hays of Franklin. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery. William L. Jones Sr. William L. Jones Sr., 82, of 418 Wiley Ave., Franklin, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born Oct. 6, 1921, in Endeavor, he was the son of William L. Jones Sr. and Hazel Smith Jones. He was a graduate of Endeavor High School. Mr. Jones was a veteran of World War II, serving as a cook with the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He retired from the Army Reserves with 24 years of service. He was an automotive mechanic for area auto dealerships until 1965. He than opened Jones Service on Pone Lane, owning and operating the family business for 30 years. He then was employed for five years as the maintenance manager for the local PennDOT District. Mr. Jones was a longtime member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church and for many years, he was the head chef for the annual Easter breakfast. He was a member of Myrtle Lodge No. 316, F&AM of Franklin, Venango Royal Arch Chapter No. 211, Keystone Council No. 42, Franklin Commandry No. 44, Venango Lodge of Perfection, New Castle Consistory and the KB Club. Mr. Jones enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He was married Jan. 16, 1946, to the former Geneva Slocum, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William L. Jones Jr. and wife, Judy, of Franklin and David L. Jones of York; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, a student at Gannon University, Erie, and William E. Jones of Franklin. He also is survived by a brother, Donald Jones and wife, Donna, of Franklin; three sisters, Judy Ream and husband, Ken, and Anita Burk, all of Franklin, and Jeannine Lindquist and husband, Art, of Erie; and two stepsisters, Erma Golden of Oil City and Beatrice Douglas of Tidioute. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his stepmother, Audrey Jones; a brother, Harold Jones; and a stepsister, Ethel Johnson. A private family visitation will be held. Public funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Daniel Callahan, pastor, officiating.
