    3. The Derrick, April 8, 2005: James L. Brown, 38 Market St., Sandy Lake Glenn A. Carbaugh, Mayport Ruth Ann "Rooney" Smith, Oak Ridge James L. Brown James L. Brown, 67, of 38 Market St., Sandy Lake, died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005, in the Butler VA Hospital following an extended illness. The Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home, 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The News-Herald. Glenn A. Carbaugh Glenn A. Carbaugh, 70, of Weaver Road, Mayport, Jefferson County, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005, in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio. Born Feb. 22, 1935, in Frills Corners, Washington Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Clyde W. and Thelma G. Gilmore Carbaugh. Mr. Carbaugh retired in 1997 from the Glenn-Gery Brick Plant in Summerville. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Carbaugh enjoyed hunting and fishing until his ill health. Surviving are his companion, Peggy Downs of Mayport; eight children, James Carbaugh of Butler, John Carbaugh Georgia Carbaugh and Janet Waters, all of Oil City, Judy Dosch of Titusville, Jill Roberts of Rockland, Denise Wadsworth of Muskegon, Mich., and Lisa Birchard of Rouseville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also is survived by three brothers, Don Carbaugh of Shippenville, Harold Carbaugh of Lucinda and William Carbaugh of Summerville; four sisters, Louise Farley of Oil City, Shirley Giles of Lucinda, Bonnie Patsy of Lamartine and Darlene Edwards of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Carbaugh was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Carbaugh. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Amity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Newmansville. Ruth Ann "Rooney" Smith Ruth Ann "Rooney" Smith, 64, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at her home following an extended illness. Born March 8, 1941, in McGee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Richard Andrew and Ruth Margaret McClafferty Edwards. Mrs. Smith was a member of Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. She was a homemaker and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and playing bingo. Mrs. Smith was married Aug. 2, 1958, to Larry Charles Smith Sr., who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Charles Smith Jr. and wife, Lori, of Oak Ridge and Kerrie Smith and wife, Lori, of New Bethlehem; three daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Tom Sneeringer of Brookville, Julie and Mark Toth of New Bethlehem and Sharon and Greg Truitt of Oak Ridge; and 12 grandchildren, Brian, Sam and Katie Sneeringer of Brookville, Meagan and Amanda Smith of Oak Ridge, Ryan and Cory Toth of New Bethlehem, Matt, Kevin and Kera Smith of Oak Ridge and Caden and Keshon Truitt of Oak Ridge. She also is survived by three sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Chet Mohney of Distant, Sandy and Tim Dittman of Knox and Jan and Bill Zamperini of Seminole. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Edwards; and her stepfather, John Scott Sloan. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Ryver, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, New Bethlehem, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Oak Ridge. Memorials may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice.
