Flannigan, 10 Buchanan St., Rouseville Donna Marjorie Dasher Fry, 791 State Route 157, Oil City William "Bill" Seekins Sr., Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Franklin Dorothy E. Bauer Dorothy E. Bauer, 72, of 1492 Lake Lucy Rd., Tionesta, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 2, 2005, at her home. Born Sept. 29, 1932, in Fryburg, she was the daughter of Henry and M. Susan Zacherl Groner. Mrs. Bauer was a longtime resident of the Fryburg/Lake Lucy area. She attended McGinnis School near Fryburg and graduated in 1950 from Shippenville High School. Mrs. Bauer had worked at Bache Co. in Oil City after graduating from high school. She also had worked part-time for the past 19 years at Longacres Potato Farm. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and the Rosary Society of the church. Mrs. Bauer was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and taught sewing. She was presently the treasurer of The Woodman of the World Insurance. She enjoyed genealogy, journal writing, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Bauer was married Oct. 10, 1953, to Clair Bauer, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Kenneth Bauer and wife, Barbara, of Wattsburg; three daughters, Angelene McCloskey and husband, C. Douglas, of Lickingville, Kristine Fink of Shippenville and Pauline "Pauley" Hargenrader and husband, Perry, of Venus; and eight grandchildren, Brock McCloskey of Fort Drum N.Y., Jill Spence and husband, Tom. of St. Marys, Garrett McCloskey studying in Vietnam, Daniel Fink of Butler, Brenton McCloskey of Lickingville, Stacy Hargenrader studying in Australia and Karlie and Kayla Bauer of Wattsburg. She also had 11 godchildren. She also is survived by one sister, Veronica "Noni" Huefner and husband, Regis, of Marble; and two brothers, Joseph Groner and wife, Virginia, of Shippenville and Edward Groner and wife, Mary Ann, of Shippenville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jolene Rose; a sister, Sister M. Suzanne (Agnes) O.S.B.; and a son-in-law, Rodney Fink. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg. Parish vigil services will be held at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael Church, Fryburg, with the Rev. Cowell, 67, of 310 Meadville Road, Titusville, died Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2005, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 23, 1938, in Bradford, he was the son of Paul and Audrey Cross Cowell. Mr. Cowell was a graduate of Claysville High School and attended Washington & Jefferson College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for three years. Mr. Cowell had been employed as a civil engineer by PennDOT for more than 30 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). Mr. Cowell enjoyed reading and traveling. He was married in Taylorstown June 6, 1964, to Helen D. Cowell, who died Jan. 22, 2005. Surviving are a son and his wife, Jonathan P. and Renee Cowell of Allison Park; a daughter and her husband, Jacqueline and Andy Luebke of Erie; and a granddaughter, Madison Jane Cowell. He also is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Emily Cowell of Taylorstown; two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Lewis of Shelby, Ohio, and Shirley Kemp of Bethany, W.Va.; two brothers, Lynn Cowell of Avella and Ed Cowell of Taylorstown; four nieces, Lori Stone, Mandy Cowell, Courtney Cowell and Brooklyn Cowell; and a nephew, Dale Garland Jr. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Cowell was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Cowell. Virginia M. Etzel Virginia M. Etzel, 67, of Shippenville RD 2, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, in Clarion Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1937, in Pine City, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Bernice M. Folwell Swartzfager. Mrs. Etzel was a member of the Pine City Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Etzel was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was married June 8, 1956, to Robert E. Etzel, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter and husband, Rhonda and Rick Williams of Knox; a son, Don Etzel of Shippenville; three brothers and their wives, Jesse and Barbara Swartzfager of Granite Falls, Wash., Randy and Janet Swartzfager of Shippenville and Blaine and Rose Swartzfager of Farmdale, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and an aunt, Etta Aites of Bredinsburg Road, Franklin RD 2. Mrs. Etzel was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clifford Swartzfager. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the David C. Flannigan, 93, of 10 Buchanan St., Rouseville, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, in Titusville Area Hospital after a short illness. Born Nov. 17, 1911, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Pius and Mary Alice Flanagan Heintz. She was a 1930 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Mrs. Flannigan's life was devoted to God, her church, family and friends. She was a member of St. Venantius Church, Rouseville, and the Rosary Society of the church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Flannigan was married in St. Joseph Church in 1948 to John P. Flannigan, who died in 1954. Surviving are two sons, Daniel G. Flannigan and wife, Karen, and John P. "Jack" Flannigan, all of Rouseville; four grandchildren; Kristy, Daniel G. Jr., Zachary and Jennifer; several nieces and nephews; and two cousins, Sister Mary Regina, O.S.B., of Erie and Kathryn McMahon of Franklin. Mrs. Flannigan was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mildred Proper, Theresa Horn and an infant sister, Alice A. Heintz; and four brothers, Henry, Leo, George and Thomas Heintz; and her stepmother, Mary Sweeney Heintz, who raised her after her mother died at an early age. She also was preceded in death by her lifelong friend, Birdie Morgan. There will be one hour of visitation in St. Venantius Church, Rouseville, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. John Neff will preside. She will be cremated. Donna Marjorie Dasher Fry Donna Marjorie Dasher Fry, 89, of 791 State Route 157, Oil City, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh. Born May 14, 1915, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Harry G. and Percilla Vera McClelland Dasher. Mrs. Fry was a member of the Heckathorn United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, bird watching and book puzzles. Mrs. Fry was married June 16, 1936, to Sherl Wesley Fry, who died March 6, 1985. Surviving are a son and his wife, Dennis S. and Norma Fry of Franklin, a daughter and her husband, Donna M. and Harry Moon of Oil City; a son-in-law, Wendell E. Schwab of Venus; and one sister, Phyllis M. Perry of Tippery. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Julie Nych and husband, Julius, Joy Shotts and husband, Jeff, Jeffrey Schwab and Jone McKissick and husband, William, all of Venus, Jennifer LaVan and husband, Mike, of Clarion, Vaughn D. Moon and Vance D. Moon and wife, Tammy, all of Oil City, Vanessa D. Basil and husband, Glenn, of Tionesta, Corey Fry and Christopher Fry, both of Franklin; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fry was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy L. Schwab; one grandson, James S. Schwab; and one brother Allen G. Dasher. There will be no visitation. William 'Bill' Seekins Sr. William "Bill" Seekins Sr., 75, of Spring Hill, Fla.., formerly of Franklin, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at his home. He was born in Franklin and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Franklin. Mr. Seekins came to Florida five years ago from Orange County, Calif., where he was an area sales manager for Nestle. He enjoyed traveling, especially in Mexico, watching TV, working on his computer and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Rita, of Spring Hill; two daughters and their husbands, Erin and Michael Cougill of Spring Hill, Fla., and Pat and Jerry Rodgers of Eugene, Ore.; three sons and their wives, Bill Jr. and Sharon Seekins of Spring Hill, Fla., Kevin and Melody Seekins of Escondido, Calif., and Brian and Cindy Seekins of Kennerdale, Texas; five grandsons, Shawn, Josh, Nicholas, David and Cameron; two granddaughters, Shannon and Jessica; and two great-granddaughters, Kiana and Kailin.
