"Hobie" Gregory, 36, of 423 13th St., Franklin, formerly of Oil City, died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 30, 1969, in Oil City, he was the son of the late John F. Gregory Sr. and Diane Dehn Gregory. He was a 1987 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Gregory enjoyed golfing and being with his family and friends. He was married Aug. 16, 2002, in Calvary United Methodist Church to Melody J. Spence, who survives. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters and their spouses, Patricia and Fred Conner of Frederick, Md., Pam and Brad Ferko of Sarver, John and Kelly Gregory and Jeff and Teresa Gregory, all of Franklin, Joe and Dawn Gregory of Galveston, Texas, George and Kathy Gregory of Woolands, Texas, and Peggy and Bill Mook of Franklin; and the following nieces and nephews: Jenna, Jessie, Ryan, Joel, Tyler, Olivia, Nicholas, Amy, Allison, Christopher, Brent, Emily, Andrea, Jacob and Lucas. He also is survived by his mother-in-law, Kay Spence of Cranberry; his father-in-law, J.R. Spence of Oil City; and a brother-in-law, Corey Budzinski of Oil City. Mazie Sevilla Hinderliter Mazie Sevilla Hinderliter, 84, of 278 Olean Trail, New Bethlehem, Cottage Hill, died at 6:56 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Clarion Hospital. Born June 18, 1920, in Redbank Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Rubin and Minnie Radaker Hilliard. Mrs. Hinderliter was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed solving various word puzzles, quilting and visiting with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was married Jan. 16, 1940, to Arthur G. Hinderliter, who survives. They were married for more than 65 years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Guy (Nancy) Sherry and Mrs. Richard (Linda) McClowry, both of New Bethlehem, and Margie Hinderliter of Clarion; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hinderliter was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Skinner; six brothers, George, Harry, Melvin, John, Jacob and Rubin Hilliard; and one grandson, Brian Sherry. Adaline McFarland, 88, of 302 15th St., Franklin, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at her home. Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of Norman and Myrtie Flint Beckwith. Mrs. McFarland worked for the U.S. Post Office from 1941 to 1946 and with the Nurses Aide Corps at the Franklin Hospital. She later worked as a secretary for Martin Gas until her retirement in 1977. She had been an active member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church and had served at various times as financial secretary, deacon and elder of the church. Mrs. McFarland enjoyed volunteering and was the 1993 American Red Cross "Volunteer of the Year." She served as Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and as secretary of the Franklin Little League. On Dec. 26, 1938, she married Max W. McFarland, who died Feb. 28, 1973. Surviving are a daughter, Judith Ann Dunham and husband, Denton, of Erie; four grandchildren, Amanda Kimmy and husband, Nathan, of Union City, Justin McFarland and wife, Sarah, of Douglasville, Ga., Chris Dunham of Los Angeles, Calif., and Chad Dunham of Erie; and a daughter-in-law, Linda McFarland of Erie. She also is survived by a sister, Pansy Edge of Virginia. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. McFarland; two brothers, Eirwin and Clair Beckwith; and two sisters, Maude Sponseller and Helen Dieffenbacher. Private family services will be held with the Rev. Barbara Ellen Swonger Barbara Ellen Swonger, 70, of 193 Lawsonham St., Rimersburg, formerly of Upper Burrell, Westmoreland County, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, in the Chicora Medical Center, Chicora. Born Sept. 17, 1934, in New Kensington, she was the daughter of Arlo and Esther Irwin Davis. She was a 1953 graduate of New Kensington High School and then attended the Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing for three years, graduating in 1955 with a degree in registered nursing. Mrs. Swonger had worked for the VNA of Butler and worked for several years at General Anchorage Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, before working as a private duty registered nurse for local families. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She also played the autoharp. Mrs. Swonger enjoyed studying the Bible. Her husband of 27 years, Donald Arlo Swonger, survives. Also surviving are two sons, Fred Collingwood and wife, Mica, of Houston, Texas, and Larry Collingwood and fiancee, Christina Griffin, of Springdale; three daughters, Sherry Collingwood of New Kensington, Lori Collingwood and fiance, Andrew Ziacik of Vandergrift and Ranea Collingwood and fiance, Kelly Stilen of Pearland, Texas; four grandsons, Daymen Lauff of Springdale, Raymond Collingwood of Houston, Texas, Joseph Weaver with the U.S. Army in Korea and Conner Stilen of Pearland, Texas; five granddaughters, Melissa Lauff of New Kensington, Roxanna Collingwood of Houston, Texas, Jessica Weaver of Vandergrift, Jamie Bemis and fiance, David Zauruntny, of Apollo and Katelin Stilen of Pearland, Texas; one great-grandson, Julian Blaine of Vandergrift; two great-granddaughters, Lydia Weaver of Vandergrift and Larissa Zauruntny of Apollo. Ira Peter Ware Ira Peter Ware, 91, of 101 Innis St., Oil City, died at 4:09 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Nov. 3, 1913, in Dempseytown, he was the son of Arthur DeHaven and Edna May Stokes Ware. Mr. Ware had been a supervisor at Oilwell Supply, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ware also was a member of Oil City Lodge No. 710, F.&A.M., Valley of Oil City, Lodge of Perfection and the Coudersport Consistory. He enjoyed working around the house and in the yard, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Ware was married July 4, 1936, to the former Edith Christine Gaisford, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Ira D. Ware and wife, Rita, of York, John W. Ware and wife, Ruth, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Thomas D. Ware and wife, Karen, of Kissimmee, Fla.; one daughter, Sharon C. Barr and husband, Thomas, of Seneca; six grandsons; and several great-grandchildren.
