Braun, 74, of West Main Street, Clarion, died Thursday evening, Feb. 17, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Clarion. The Goble Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. Josephine N. Gammello Czekalski Josephine N. Gammello Czekalski, 77, a former resident of 7 E. Second St., Oil City, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in the home of her niece, Barb Peterson, in Corry following an extended illness. The Reinsel Funeral Home in Oil City is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. Dorothy Marie Eastman Dorothy Marie Eastman, 92, of 1146 Buffalo St., Franklin, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in The Caring Place. Born Oct. 7, 1912, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Charles and Ida Gibbens Cross. She retired in 1976 as custodian from Franklin Hospital. She also worked at Franklin Plastics. She was a member of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving is a special friend, Edna Kerr of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents and was the last surviving member of her family. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in The Caring Place where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today with the Rev. Jonathan Bell, pastor of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Helen Marguerite Fitzberald Helen Marguerite Fitzgerald, 77, of Vowinckel, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Clarion. Born Sept. 24, 1927, in Kane, she was the daughter of Paul and Belle Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Borland Funeral Home Inc., Leeper. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Marienville. Gertrude E. Flickner Gertrude E. Flickner, 86, of 43 Parker Ave., Franklin, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in her residence. Born Feb. 21, 1918, in Warren, she was the daughter of Lewis H. and Annette Nelson Benson. She was a 1934 graduate of Oil City High School and was a 1941 graduate of Clarion University with a bachelor of science degree in education. Mrs. Flickner was employed as a second grade teacher at Oakland, Cornplanter and Rocky Grove schools. She retired in 1979. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove and the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Flickner enjoyed music, playing the piano and traveling. She was married Oct. 24, 1941, to Roy E. Flickner, who died March 3, 1997. Surviving are a son, Thomas R. Flickner and wife, Anita, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Kay Leimbach and husband, Robert, of Ocean Pines, Md., and Diane Chittenden and husband, John, of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Amy Kirschner and John Chittenden, both of Clearwater, Fla., Michael Flickner of Vista, Calif., and Anne Flickner of Oceanside, Calif. She also is survived by a brother, the Rev. John P. Benson of Austintown, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Flickner was preceded in death by a brother, Richard L. Benson. Herman, 81, of 323 Proper Road, Cooperstown, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in UMPC Northwest, Seneca. Born March 27, 1923, in Mapledale, Franklin, she was the daughter of Samuel and Florence Williams Whitman. Mrs. Herman was married in Cochranton Oct. 18, 1947, to William Herman, who survives. She and her husband were lifelong dairy farmers. She was a member of the Bardleytown United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Kathryn Rosenberg and husband, James, of Cooperstown; a sister, Jane Armstrong and husband, LeRoy, and a brother, Charles Whitman and wife, Iris, all of Cooperstown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herman was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Dashner; and a brother, James Whitman. Archie 'Ray' Humphrey Archie "Ray" Humphrey, 80, of 1639 Marion Waldo Road, Marion, Ohio, a former Franklin resident and one-time manager of the Franklin J.C. Penney store, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Born Aug. 30, 1924, in Agosta, Ohio, he was the son of Oscar V. and Ella Hazel Humphrey. He was a 1942 graduate of Martel High School in Marion, Ohio. Mr. Humphrey served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, participating in the landing of Iwo Jima. After the war, he worked for a time in Marion for Tecumseh before joining the J.C. Penney Co. in 1949 in Marion, Ohio. Mr. Humphrey's career with the Penney Co. spanned 341/2 years, serving as manager of stores in Jamestown, N.Y., Hamden, Conn., and Franklin. He last served in that capacity in the Franklin store for 10 years, from 1973 to 1983, retiring that year for health reasons. While manager of the Hamden, Conn., store, he was an officer in both the local and state Chambers of Commerce and Retail Merchants and also managed the Hamden Connecticut Plaza Association for two years. During the time he held the head position in the Franklin store, Mr. Humphrey was named "Kiwanian of the Year" as a member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club. After his retirement from Penney's in 1983, he returned in 1987 to Marion, Ohio, where he enjoyed playing cards at the Marion Senior Center, was an avid sports fan and was a faithful member of the First United Church of Christ. Mr. Humphrey was married in 1951 to the former JoAnn Craven, who survives. They would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary Feb. 10. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and their wives, Bruce and Marie Humphrey of Cranston, R.I., and Scott and Maureen Humphrey of Fairborn, Ohio; two daughters, Annette Humphrey and Jill Thorpe, both of Marion, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Maleah, Joshua, Scott, Louise, Jesse, Joanne, Raymond, Gary, Tracy and Lorraine; and nine great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Ruby Wickersham of Marion, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Humphrey was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Edward and Charles Humphrey; three sisters, Virgie Garver, Laura Leatham and Edna Martin; and a granddaughter, Audrey Marie Thorpe. A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in the First United Church of Christ in Marion, with the Rev. Gale Green, pastor, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, Marion, Ohio, or to Fairhaven Community, 850 Marseilles Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Patricia A Kightlinger Patricia A. Kightlinger, 61, of 45 Pearl Ave., Oil City, died at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Nov. 15, 1943, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Carl T. and Eleanor Reynolds Beatty. She attended the Oil City schools and lived in the Oil City area all of her life. Mrs. Kightlinger had worked in sales for Kmart for more then 15 years. She last was employed by Great Lakes Security Co. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kightlinger was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Oil City. She enjoyed crocheting. Surviving are two daughters, Julia Jackson of Hydetown and Anna Hamilton of Oil City; two sons, David Kightlinger of New Castle and Dale Kightlinger of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She also is survived by one sister, Vivian Kell of Oil City. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia McCartney; one brother, Charles McDonald; and one granddaughter. Mathias, 84, formerly of Corbett Street, Clarion, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born June 28, 1920, in Randolph, Somerset County, she was the daughter of Elmer E. and Anna Margaretta Siehl Mathias. Miss Mathias worked as a quality inspector for Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion where she retired. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Golden Emblem Club of Owens-Illinois Glass Plant. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion and the Historical Society in Clarion. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Mathias was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Herring and Mary Mathias; and two brothers, Charles and Francis Mathias. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Kirk Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Charles R. Mosher Charles R. Mosher, 82, of 216 Maple St., Franklin, died in his home. Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Franklin, he was the son of Arie and Ethel Mary Mosher. He was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mr. Mosher was employed as a foreman for Joy Machinery and retired there. He was a life member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 110 and the Franklin Loyal Order of the Moose No. 83. Mr. Mosher was married July 22, 1950, to the former Helen D. Double, who died Dec. 8, 1989. Surviving are two daughters, Sandy Johnson and husband, Gary, of Greensboro and Debbie Urtbansky of Lititz; and four grandchildren, Katie Johnson and Megan Johnson of Greensboro, Craig Urbansky of Erie and Jill Urbansky, a student at Penn State University. He also is survived by a sister, Glenna Herman of Florida. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. Jane H. Wilson Jane H. Wilson, 73, of 710 W. Spruce St., Titusville, died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in the Titusville Area Hospital. Born Dec. 9, 1931, in Titusville, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen Corwin Holtz. She was a 1950 graduate of Pleasantville High School and was a 1954 graduate of San Jose State University, San Jose, Calif., where she earned a degree in interior design. Mrs. Wilson had been employed by the Titusville Area School District. She was a member of the former United Church of Christ and was a past board member of the Associated Charities. Mrs. Wilson was fond of music and sang in the Venango Chorus for 25 years. She was married in Redwood City, Calif., June 19, 1954, to Warren R. Wilson, who died July 26, 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Wilson and her husband, Larry Cupp, of Williamsport, and Fay Meyer and husband, Todd, of Jackson. N.J.; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Erin Meyer. She also is survived by a brother, Earl Holtz and wife, Dot, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Isaac and husband, John, of Salinas, Calif.; her mother-in-law, Helen B. Wilson of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Russell "Bus" Wilson.
