Ochs, Leeper Margaret Catherine Smith, 21 Adams St., Franklin Calvin 'Kippy' Bright Calvin "Kippy" Bright, 79, of New Bethlehem, died early Monday morning, Jan. 31, 2005, in the Clarion Hospital. Born March 3, 1924, in Seminole, Armstrong County, he was the son of Melvin and Hazel Bright. Mr. Bright was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the street commissioner in New Bethlehem Borough until his retirement. Mr. Bright was a member of the VFW Post and the Eagles Club, both of New Bethlehem. He was married to the former Avonelle Reichard of New Bethlehem. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas Bright of Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Mary Louise Bright of New Bethlehem; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one sister, Eva Zamperini of Seminole; a longtime friend, Etta Mae Boni of Ambridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bright was preceded in death by a son, Charles Bright; and a brother, Monroe Bright. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rupert Funeral Home, New Bethlehem, with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethlehem Cemetery. Funeral set for Ethel Buzard Funeral services for Ethel L. Buzard, 64, of Knox RD 1, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, 504 E. Penn St., Knox. The Rev. Rick Osberg, pastor of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah, will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville. Mrs. Buzard, wife of Hilton L. Buzard, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in Clarion Hospital. Douglas E. Daum Jr. Douglas E. Daum Jr., 23, of Daum Lane, Tionesta, (Strobleton) died Sunday evening, Jan. 30, 2005, in Clarion Hospital from injuries received in a car crash early Sunday near Tylersburg. Born Jan. 2, 1982, in Clarion, he was the son of Douglas Daum Sr. and his wife, Elaine, of Daum Lane, Tionesta, and Brenda McCleary Peterson of Houston, Texas. He attended North Clarion School and Warren High School. Mr. Daum was very outgoing, had many friends and was a wonderful son, grandson and brother. He loved sports and music. He worked as a communication sales person for various organizations. Mr. Daum was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman Club. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Amy Renee Daum of Marble; a stepbrother, Erick Whisner and wife, Jamie, of Marienville; and a stepsister, Cheryl Swaim of Fryburg. Also surviving are his paternal grandmother, Jane Daum of Daum Lake, Tionesta; maternal grandparents, Gary and Darlene McCleary of Knox; great-grandmother, Kathlyn Monrean of Knox; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. "Bea" Gilson, 73, of Main Street, Hydetown, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in DePaul Hospital, Norfolk, Va., following a short illness. Born July 25, 1931, in Troy Township, Crawford County, she was the daughter of Gard and Alice Brown Proper. Mrs. Gilson was employed at Titusville Area Hospital for nearly 45 years. She was a member of the Titusville Area Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family, baking and cake decorating. Mrs. Gilson was married March 26, 1947, to Howard C. Gilson, who died June 6, 1987. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth W. Gilson and wife, Grace, of Sunbury, Ohio, and Keith L. Gilson and wife, Cindy, of Hydetown; five grandchildren, Kenneth Alan Gilson and Mary Ann Gilson, both of Pataskala, Ohio, Brian J. Gilson and David C. Gilson, both of Sunbury, Ohio, and Larry L. Gilson of Hydetown; and five great-grandchildren. She also is survived by eight sisters, Kay Rasey of Spartansburg, Dorothy Bills of Dempseytown, Betty Botts of Norfolk, Va., Elaine Hutchinson of Conneaut Lake, Evelyn Mallory and Darlene Hollabaugh, both of Centerville, Sherry Whitman of Titusville and Debbie Ingle of Fort Myers, Fla.; five brothers, Willis C. James R. Hinds James R. Hinds, 88, of Carnegie, brother of Helen Guth, Mary Allen and Fred Hinds, all of Oil City, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005. Mary K. "Katey" Manross Mary K. "Katey" Manross, 82, of 708 Coal City Road, Kennerdell, died at 12:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Nov. 11, 1922, in Raymilton, she was the daughter of Clarence W. and Mary Reagle Dick. She was a 1939 graduate of Rockland High School and was valedictorian of her class. While in high school, she played first string on the girls basketball team. She later graduated from Erie Commercial College and the Oil City Beauty School. Mrs. Manross was a secretary at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Franklin, and worked in the cafeterias of the Rockland and Cranberry high schools for many years. She owned and operated the K. Manross Beauty Salon on Coal City Road. Mrs. Manross served as a volunteer at the VENARC Thrift Shop in Franklin for several years. She was a member of the Rockland Card Club with friends and family. Mrs. Manross enjoyed hunting, fishing, her vegetable and flower gardens, bird watching, playing cards, vacationing at their cottage in Canada and her family. She was married Oct. 26, 1942, to Duane R. Manross, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Gerald Manross and wife, Linda, of Rockland; two daughters, Kathy Matie and husband, Paul, of Tidioute and Christy Switzer and husband, Richard Jr., of Rockland; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Manross of Franklin; Melissa Sikoski of Oil City; James Matie and wife, Jessie, of Warren; Rhonda Hickey and husband, Jason, of Greenville, Tenn.; Marci Miller and husband, Joseph, Jerry Lee Manross and wife, Liza, Richard Switzer III and Chad Switzer, all of Rockland; Christopher McNeish and wife, Amanda, of Polk; Greg McNeish and wife, Casey, of Grove City; and Fred McNeish of Jackson Center. Central Ave., Titusville, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in Titusville Area Hospital where he was admitted Jan. 25. Born Dec. 13, 1908, in Oil City, he was the son of David and Elnora Schwab Metz. He attended the Oil City schools. Mr. Metz formerly was employed at Continental Refining Co. until its closing. He operated a Gulf Service Station for 29 years at the corner of W. Spring Street and Central Avenue, Titusville. Following retirement, he worked part-time at the David English Service Center. He was a member of St. Titus Church and the Friendly Neighbors of Central Towers. Mr. Metz was married in Rouseville Sept. 2, 1931, to Grace McFadden, who died April 17, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Richard T. Metz and wife, JoAnn, of Carrollton, Ga., and Ted M. Metz and wife, Norma, of Follansbee, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Edna Metz of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret Catherine Smith Margaret Catherine Smith, 84, of 21 Adams St., Franklin, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Dec. 28, 1920, in Polk, she was the daughter of William and Minnie Bell Carey Haylett. Mrs. Smith retired in 1983 as an aide at Polk Center. Prior to that she worked as an aide for 12 years for the Pennsylvania Health Department. She was an active member of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was a member of 4-H. She enjoyed bingo, crafts and ceramics. Mrs. Smith was married Dec. 16, 1946, to Lester Milton Smith, who died Sept. 8, 2004. Surviving are four children, Lester Ray Smith at home, Mrs. James (Margaret May) Sloss of Easley, S.C., Mrs. Robert (Patricia Kay) Lowrie of Franklin and Mrs. Donald (Janet Fay) Ross of Pelzer, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by four brothers, William Paul Haylett, Clarence Burton Haylett and Dale Haylett, all of Franklin, and Daryl Haylett of Sandy Lake; and one sister, Lois Morford of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Ralph Haylett; and a sister, Mary Mae Clark.
