Sedwick, Parker, Fertigs native Mary Belle Sloneker, 85 Glenview Ave., Oil City Mary Elizabeth Vultanski, Franklin, formerly of Beaver Falls John D. Berlin John D. Berlin, 78, of Knight Town Road, Shippenville, died Wednesday afternoon, May 4, 2005, at his home following a lengthy illness. The David C. McEntire Funeral Home in Knox is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Friday in The Derrick. Violet M. Rankin Violet M. Rankin, 82, of Williams, Ore., formerly of Oil City, survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Rankin, an uncle and his wife, Robert and Mary Herman, and a special friend, Mary Helen Mead, all of Oil City, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Three Rivers Community Hospital. Betty J. Sedwick Betty J. Sedwick, 84, of Parker, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, of natural causes. Born June 2, 1920, in Fertigs, Venango County, she was the daughter of Byron and Nora Perry Boocks. Mrs. Sedwick was employed for many years at the former Corso's Market in Parker and later worked for the former W.A. Moyer and Sons Level Vial Works in Parker. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Six Points, near Eau Claire, where she was active in many duties of the church. Mrs. Sedwick was long recognized for her ability to bake lemon pies that were featured at the monthly fund-raising dinners at the church. She was married Aug. 7, 1939, to the Rev. Wilbert "Bill" Sedwick, who died April 21, 2001. A devout Christian, Mrs. Sedwick worked along side her husband in his lifelong ministry throughout western Pennsylvania in the Church of God of Prophecy. She served many years as the head cook at the summer youth camps at the Cowansville location of the Church of God of Prophecy. While a patient at Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, she was found daily visiting and praying with residents as long as her health permitted. She was an outstanding grandmother and great-grandmother to those young folks in any manner she could as a model. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (June) McKee of Parker, Mrs. Bogan (Cookie) Goughler of Reno, Venango County, and Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Bowser of Parker; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Dwight Boocks of Fertigs; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary, in 1985 and a granddaughter, Amanda Goughler, in 1994; two sisters, Montez Davis and Mary Van Cleve; and two brothers, Frank and Thomas Boocks. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Church of God of Prophecy in Six Points. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the church with the Rev. C. Jay Croyle and the Rev. Jack Sallee, officiating. Interment will be in Scrubgrass Cemetery. Mary Belle Sloneker Mary Belle Sloneker, 57, of 85 Glenview Ave., Oil City, died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in UPMC, Pittsburgh. She had lived in the Pittsburgh area most of her life. Born July 6, 1947, in Monongahela Township, Greene County, she was the daughter of Norma Elaine Walsh Sloneker and the late Thomas Edward Sloneker. Ms. Sloneker enjoyed camping, gardening, bingo, karaoke, traveling and making people laugh. Surviving are her mother, Norma Elaine Sloneker of Oil City; two daughters, Patricia Hack and Holly Oakes, both of Oil City; two sons, John Klem of Oil City and James Romanias and his wife, Stacey, of Cranberry; eight grandchildren, Mary Hack, Ronnie Hack and William Hack, all of Oil City, Khya DeMarco and Helena Orner, both of Oil City, Jessie Romanias and Hailey Romanias, both of Cranberry, and Owen Klem of Oil City. She also is survived by one brother, Donald W. Sloneker of Walnut Bend; three sisters, Bonnie Lee Klem and husband, John, of Walnut Bend and Chrisinda Sue Sloneker and Florence Belle Sloneker, both of Pittsburgh. Ms. Sloneker was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Patricia Ann Sloneker. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Emigh, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to the family. Mary Elizabeth Vultanski Mary Elizabeth Vultanski, 93, of Franklin, formerly of Beaver Falls, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Oct. 23, 1911, in New Brighton, she was the daughter of Gasper and Helen Dlhos Terek. Mrs. Vultanski was a member of the Christian Mothers & Christ the Divine Teacher Church in Chippewa. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Sigmund Vultanski, preceded her in death in 1987. Surviving are her daughter, Helen Callaghan and her husband, Max, of Franklin; a son-in-law, William Johnson of Beaver Falls and Virginia; six grandchildren, Max Callaghan of El Dorado Hills, Calif., Mary Nykyforuk of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Davis Callaghan of Concord, Ohio, Jennifer McCormick of Manahawkin, N.J., Christine Johnson of Richardsville, Va., and Colette Meyring of Claudville, Va.,; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister Ann Lapic of New Brighton; a brother, Daniel Terek of Valencia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Vultanski was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Johnson; and a grandson, Daniel Callaghan. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Spratt Funeral Home, 1901 Seventh Ave., Beaver Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Christ the Divine Teacher Church, Chippewa. Interment will follow in St. Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Chippewa Township. The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Christ the Divine Teacher Church, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, 15010; The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, 16323; or to St. Patrick Church or School, 952 Buffalo St., Franklin, 16323.
