Thomas, Pittsburgh, formerly of Oil City Virginia Feldman Walz, North East, formerly of Franklin Lois Claire Wolfe, Springhill, Fla., Shippenville native Marlene M. Young, New Bethlehem Margaret Berrett, mass set Lois E. Beers Lois E. Beers, 91, of Central Towers, 217 E. Central Ave., Titusville, formerly of 12328 State Highway 8, Titusville, died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, in Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born Sept. 20, 1913, in Rome Township, Crawford County, she was the daughter of Clifton and Bina May Smith Morris. Mrs. Beers had been employed for many years by the Titusville Area School District as the manager of the Cherrytree Elementary School Cafeteria until her retirement in 1978. She was a life member and former board member of the Country Royals CB Association. Mrs. Beers enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, cooking and yard sales. In her younger years she enjoyed camping. She was married in Meadville Oct. 11, 1929, to Loren B Beers, who died July 4, 1994. Surviving are five sons, Clifton M. Beers and companion, Ann, of Watsonville, Calif., Harold J. Beers and wife, Patricia, of Oil City, Willard R. "Bob" Beers and wife, Paula, of Erie, Paul L. Beers and wife, Alice, of Poway, Calif., and Bruce G. Beers and wife, Roberta, of Saegertown; two daughters-in-law, Nadine Beers and Kathy Beers of Titusville; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three sisters, Freda Reagle of Titusville, Mildred Knight of Riceville and Treva Kerr of Bethel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Beers was preceded in death by two sons, Durand "Duke" Beers and Russell W. Beers Sr.; two brothers, Howard Morris and Granville "Dan" Morris; and two sisters, Marie Gregory and Geneva Halfast. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Miller, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Covenanter Cemetery, Rome Township, Crawford County. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice. Agnes R. Banner Marron Agnes R. Banner Marron, 90, of Rochester, N.Y., formerly of Oil City, died Sunday evening, May 8, 2005, in St. John Home in Rochester after an extended illness. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published at a later date. Joanne Honacki Meals Joanne S. Honacki Meals, 84, of 291 Line Road, Mercer, since May 2000, formerly of Oil City, died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2005, in Woodland Place, Mercer, following a three-year illness. She formerly resided on Woodland Avenue, Grove City Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Oil City, she was the daughter of John and Pauline Soscak Honacki. She was a 1940 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Erie. Mrs. Meals was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith. She was married June 20, 1942, to Keith Leroy Meals, who died Feb. 13, 1997. Surviving are a daughter and husband, Bonnie and James F. Thompson of Mercer; one granddaughter, Amy Urey and husband, Michael, of Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Shane Urey and Rachael Urey; and two stepgrandchildren, Jackie Thompson and Ken Thompson. She also is survived by a sister, Irene Byler of Erie; and a brother, John Honacki of Oil City. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Meals was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Mitchell, Lottie Tarneski and Linda Edkin. Joshua Christiansen of Christ Community Church, Delaware Township, officiating. Interment will be in Clintonville Methodist Cemetery. Lesa M. Thomas Lesa M. Thomas, 30, of Pittsburgh, a former Oil City resident, died of cancer Sunday, May 8. 2005. Her spirit never wavered in her battle against cancer and her courage and unyielding strength were an inspiration to those who loved her. She was the daughter of Barb Capp of Oil City and the granddaughter of Orrin and Martha Hepler. Ms. Thomas was a 1993 graduate of Oil City High School and was a graduate of Duquesne University School of Nursing. She was a nurse at the Southside Hospital and Pediatric Cardiology of Western Pennsylvania. Ms. Thomas was involved in community service and volunteered for the American Red Cross Southwest Pennsylvania for eight years. She was passionate about diabetic research and education. Surviving, in addition to her mother and grandparents, are her twin sister, Lori M. Thomas of Pittsburgh, formerly of Oil City; and dear friends, Stacy Cale, Jill Ireland, Jenice Rightmyer and Jennifer Rosenberry, who orchestrated her care and became her soldiers in battle. There will be no visitation. An adult funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Shadyside Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are in charge of the John A. Freyvogel Sons Inc. Virginia Feldman Walz Virginia Feldman Walz, 98, of 2 Gibson St., North East, formerly of Franklin, died Monday, May 9, 2005, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie. Born Feb. 27, 1907, in Franklin, she was the daughter of George and Grace Black Feldman, and was raised in Franklin. Mrs. Walz formerly was employed as an accountant for 15 years by Joy Manufacturing in Franklin, retiring in 1965. She lived in North East for the past 14 years. She formerly resided for 20 years in Green Valley, Ariz. Mrs. Walz attended the First Presbyterian Church in North East. Her husband, Albert Waltz, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Albert Walz Jr. and wife, Beverly, of North East; four grandchildren, Commander Michael Walz and wife, Marcia, of Springfield, Va., Pamela Maney and husband, Kevin, of Greenlawn, N.Y., Joel Walz and wife, Jill, of Harborcreek, and Albert E. Walz III of Los Angeles, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Declan; and a niece, Elizabeth Walz Campbell and husband, Bill, of Elgin, S.C. She also is survived by very close friends, Al Hoover and wife, Katy, of Hackensack, Minn., and their family, Sarah Metzger and husband, David, and Beth Nielsen and husband, Paul, all of Chicago; and four great-grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Claudia and Phillip. Lois Claire Wolfe Lois Claire Wolfe, 87, of 11205 Marysville St., Springhill, Fla., died Saturday, May 7, 2005, in Brooksville, Fla. Born Feb. 14, 1918, in Shippenville, she was the daughter of Charles and Amanda Derihaupt Gordon. Mrs. Wolfe was a former member of the Presbyterian Church. She was married Sept. 23, 1935, to Glenn S. Wolfe, who died Sept. 9, 1999. Surviving are two sons, James Wolfe of Cordova, Alaska, and Richard Wolfe of Springhill, Fla.; many grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Catharine Kehoe of Shippenville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wolfe was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Wolfe, in 1947; two sisters; and four brothers. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Revs. Gerry and Clara Belloit officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarion Cemetery. Marlene M. Young Marlene M. Young, 57, of New Bethlehem, died Saturday morning, May 7, 2005. Born Sept. 27, 1947, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Bernice Henderson Young. Miss Young was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem. She enjoyed word finds, reading, spending time with her cat, Precious, and reminiscing about older generations. Surviving are several cousins; a special caregiver, Leoda Bailey; and a close friend, Louise Fenstermaker and her family. In addition to her parents, Miss Young was preceded in death by an infant sister and very special aunts, Martha Fox and Dot Yount. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. Sue Bonner, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in New Bethlehem, officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethlehem Cemetery. Berrett, 80, of Polk, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick Church, Franklin. Mrs. Berrett died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in The Caring Place, Franklin.
