Wassum, 15352 Route 68, Sligo Donald Edward Smail, memorial slated Franklin Paul Amon Franklin Paul Amon, Ph.D., 81, of Oil City, died Wednesday June 1, 2005, at UPMC Northwest. Born Oct. 21, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Katherine and Paul Amon. Dr. Amon received a Ph.D. in English literature with a specialty in William Shakespeare from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. A decorated veteran of World War II, he served for four years as a navigator and radio operator with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a retired English professor at the University of Puerto Rico, where he taught for more than 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Tina, of Oil City; two sons, Ricky Amon of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Paul Amon of Oil City; a daughter, Michele Duff and her husband, Brian, of Evergreen, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Warren, Richard and Steven Duff, all of Evergreen, Colo. Dr. Amon will be interred today in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake. John Parker Berg John Parker Berg, 52, of Shippenville, died Wednesday evening, June 8, 2005. Burns Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. Russell D. Greenlee Russell D. Greenlee died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, (three days from his 95th birthday) at the Riverside Nursing Center in Piedmont, S.C., following a short illness. Born June 10, 1910, in Polk, he was a son of Homer Greenlee and Mildred Osborne (White). Mr. Greenlee graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1928 and retired from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in 1975 after 25 years of employment. He served as Canal Township supervisor in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Franklin. He attended Canal Wesleyan Methodist Church for 35 years and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin. Surviving are a son, James G. Greenlee of Polk; a daughter, Sue Anne Miller of Belton, S.C.; three grandsons, Mark Greenlee of Warren, Michael Greenlee of Reston, Va., and Christopher Miller of Starr, S.C.; a granddaughter, Aimee Ellison of Pelzer, S.C.; and two great-granddaughters. Mr. Greenlee was preceded in death by his first wife, Claribel Reisinger; and by his second wife, Martha Richardson. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Cornell, retired minister, and the Rev. Jonathan Bell of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Mill Creek Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Kiwanis Club of Franklin. Evelynn E. Henry Evelynn E. Henry, 92, of Shippenville, died Friday afternoon, June 10, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. The William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox, is in charge of arrangements. Johns, 76, of Route 28, Summerville, Redbank Township, Clarion County, died early Friday morning, June 10, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Lloyd I. Wassum Lloyd I. Wassum, 76, of 15352 Route 68, Sligo, died Friday morning, June 10, 2005, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Jan. 15, 1929, in Shamburg, Clarion County, he was the son of Claude and Grace Hodil Wassum. Mr. Wassum operated a dairy farm and drove a milk truck and mobile feed grinder. He retired from Jesse Buzzard Trucking. Following retirement, he served as a supervisor for Piney Township, Clarion County, and drove school bus for Union School District. He was a member of Licking-Cherry Run Presbyterian Church, Sligo Lions Club, Clarion Moose Lodge No. 101 and Moose Legion No. 1. He enjoyed taking high school sports teams to events, light farm and lawn maintenance, tractors, and spending time with friends and his grandchildren. He was married May 23, 1952, to Louise Rea, who preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2004. Surviving are two sons and their wives, David and Lori Wassum of Parker and Duane and Karen Wassum of Orchard Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Caleb Wassum, Kelly Wassum and Curtis Wassum; and a sister, Twila Wassum of Shelocta. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel R. Wassum; two sisters, Helen Bowser and Martha Stahlman; and two brothers, Dale Wassum and Carl Wassum. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Piper, pastor of the Sligo Chapel, officiating. Interment will follow at Sligo Cemetery. Smail memorial slated A memorial service for Donald Edward Smail, a former Limestone resident who died May 18, 2005, in Dayton, Ohio, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Salem Cemetery in Frogtown. Services will be conducted by the Rev. James Dietrich and will include ceremonies performed by an honor guard from Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C.
