Adams, getting it right John Parker Berg John Parker Berg, 52, of Shippenville, died Wednesday evening, June 8, 2005, from a vehicle accident on his property. The Robert V. Ditz, 78, of Leeper, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville. Born Nov. 16, 1926, in Fryburg, he was the son of Lawrence W. and Marcella Loll Ditz. Mr. Ditz served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1991 from Georgia Pacific. Mr. Ditz was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman's Club and the Beagle Club. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and lawn care at Joe's Trucking. Mr. Ditz was married Feb. 29, 1949, to the former Rosella Crkvenac, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rose Groner and husband, Bill, of Tionesta RD and Lorie Irwin and husband, Dan, of Leeper; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Bernard Ditz and wife, Madeline, of Fryburg; a sister, Betty Lou Ditz and her special friend, Michael Spiranzo; and two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Ditz of Michigan and Donna Ditz of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ditz was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Burns and Helen Ditz; and two brothers, Earl Ditz and Wilfred Ditz. There will be no visitation. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Borland Funeral Home, Leeper. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor of Greenwood United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Fryburg Sportsman's Club. Ruth L. Grimm Ruth L. Grimm, 90, of Myrtle Street, Emlenton, died at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, shortly after her arrival at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born May 7, 1915, in Emlenton, she was the daughter of Melvin and Blanch Wiser Edinger. She was a 1933 graduate of Emlenton High School and was a graduate of Duff Business College, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Grimm was employed by Sterling Oil Division of Quaker State Corp. in Emlenton. She was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church and the Emlenton Area Over-55 Club. Mrs. Grimm was married in St. Petersburg Aug. 26, 1939, to Robert J. Grimm, who died Sept. 8, 2003. Surviving are a son and his wife, Robert A. and Melanie Grimm of Boardman, Ohio; two granddaughters, Lynn Grimm of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Mrs. Scott (Leslie) Pannelle of Columbus, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Erin Johnson and Jack Johnson, both of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Barbara Carr and Patricia Russell, both of Emlenton. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Grimm was preceded in death by three sisters, Cecil Campbell, Lillian LaMere and Margaret Anderson; and three brothers, Leslie Edinger, Charles Edingr and John Edinger. Miele, 85, a former resident of Franklin RD 1, mother of Paul M. Miele of Polk, died Thursday morning, June 9, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Ivan Myers Ivan Myers, 84, of 203 Midvale Ave., Clyde, Ohio, a Sligo native, died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Arbors of Clyde Nursing Home. Born Sept. 23, 1920, in Sligo, he was the son of Newland "Casey" and Margaret Wensel Myers. Mr. Myers was a graduate of Sligo High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Myers was a retired engineer at Cedar Point and also worked for NASA. He was a life member of the Clyde VFW Post No. 3343 and the Clyde Moose. Mr. Myers was an avid ham radio operator using W8FEF. He rode the bike trial from Clyde to Fremont, Ohio, in excess of 12,000 miles and walked 1,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Mr. Myers was married in West Virginia July 23, 1938, to Beatrice Kammerdiner, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Gordon Myers of Green Springs, Ohio, and Beverly Greenawalt of Rimersburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Dana Myers of Mars; five sisters, Doris Myers and Phyllis Tippery, both of Shippenville, LoraJean Gathers of Lake Wales, Fla., Mona Boyles of Panama City, Fla., and Donna Elmore of Sarasota, Fla. In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a brother, Howard D. Myers. There will be no visitation. Rodgers, 84, of 235 Seneca Woods Apartments, Seneca, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Oil City. Born May 26, 1921, in Cambridge Springs, she was the daughter of Homer and Blanche Kennedy Siverling. Mrs. Rodgers was a ward clerk at the Oil City Hospital prior to working in the deli at Henry's Riverside, where she retired. She was a past president and secretary of the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was a past president of the Northwest Fireman's Auxiliary. Mrs. Rodgers attended the Seneca Evangelical Congregational Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose family was her life. Mrs. Rodgers was married May 30, 1938, to Lloyd E. "Tuffy" Rodgers, who died May 4, 1989. Surviving are two sons, Arthur P. Rodgers and wife, Jean, of Fertigs and Thomas R. Rodgers and wife, Bonnie, of Reno; two daughters, Betty Fuller of Newport News, Va., and Dottie Jean Bauman and husband, Chuck, of Yorktown, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Vernon Siverling and wife, Snook, of Seneca; a sister, Luella Schlosser of Saegertown; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Siverling and Carl Siverling; a sister, Alberta Grippe; and a great-grandson. Smith, 83, of 4291 Main St., Hawthorn, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Clarion Hospital. Born March 19, 1922, in Timblin, Jefferson County, he was the son of Wallace A. and Beulah A. "Minnie" Marshall Smith. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith was self-employed as part owner of Smith's Service Station in Hawthorn and was retired. He also worked in the coal mines and at the Clarion County Courthouse until his retirement. He was a member of the Hawthorn Presbyterian Church. Mr. Smith loved music and was an accomplished musician. He was married July 17, 1947, to Lois Jane Welsh, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dennis L. Smith and wife, Linda, and Robert A. "Bobby" Smith Jr. and wife, Jody, all of Hawthorn; seven grandchildren, Dennis Smith Jr., Lori Garmong, Salina Hetrick, Alex Smith, Shannon Clouse, Alicia Smith and Andrew Smith; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Smith and Gerald Smith. Getting it right Wade G. Adams - Wade G. Adams, 85, of Seneca, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Mr. Adams served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1940 until 1945. He attained master sergeant and served in the West Pacific and Philippines areas. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Pacific Service Medal.
