Hi, C. C. Brosius was a Civil War Veteran who lived in Hays, Ellis Co., KS. I have been taking pictures of the Civil War Veterans tombstones that are here in Hays. He died Dec. 10, 1905. When I saw his tombstone I was curious so I just checked it out on Ancestry and found Chalkley Brosius from the above unit. The census show that he was in Clarion, PA in 1880 census with wife Carrie E. and the Civil War list shows his widow as Carrie E. I will be checking this date to see if any write-up in the Hays paper on his death. He was a member of the GAR here in Hays and they were pretty good about writing good death notices on some of the veterans. I work part-time for the Ellis Co. Hist. Soc. and have checked on several of the veterans, so hopefully he will be one that has a good write-up. I am from Knox, PA and so when I saw a familiar name I got curious especially since he served in a PA unit and now I am really excited to see that he lived in Clarion Co.
