The Derrick, June 9, 2005: Wade G. Adams, Seneca Della Marie Ditzenberger, 161 Peach St., Franklin Ruth L. Grimm, Myrtle Street, Emlenton Thomas H. Miller, Franklin Geraldine F. Seitz, Shippenville, formerly of Marble Betty Jane Shoffstall, formerly of 24 Second Ave., Franklin Wade G. Adams Wade G. Adams, 85, of Seneca, died at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Aug. 10, 1919, in Oil City, he was the son of Charles A. and Grace Gardiner Adams. He was a 1939 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Adams was employed at the Oil City Post Office for 28 years, retiring in 1976. He was a charter member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and was active in the organization for more than 25 years. Mr. Adams was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Oil City Lodge No. 363, F&AM. Mr. Adams enjoyed reading, fishing and working outside in his yard. He was married in Seneca Aug. 29, 1947, to the former Helen Schaming, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Kathy Geer of Mount Vernon, Ill., Calvin Adams and wife, Debara, of Seneca, and Paula Settlemire and husband, Michael, of Seneca; and five grandchildren, Jaclyn Marrs and husband Nathan, of Louisville, Ky., Kristi Settlemire, Justin Adams, Matthew Settlemire and Sara Settlemire, all of Seneca. He also is survived by two brothers, William Adams and wife, Charlotte, of Oil City and Frederick Adams of Reno; a sister, Doris Kuhns and husband, John, of Tidioute; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Adams. Della Marie Ditzenberger Della Marie Ditzenberger, 81, of 161 Peach St., Franklin, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born May 4, 1924, in Raymilton, she was the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth Daniels Doutt. Mrs. Ditzenberger retired in 1986 as a laundry worker at Polk Center after 16 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Ditzenberger enjoyed her family, bingo, reading, traveling and watching birds. She first was married Feb. 22, 1947, to Albert C. Snyder, who died Nov. 29, 1989. She then was married Jan. 17, 1992, to Robert W. Ditzenberger, who died April 30, 1993. Surviving are eight children, Alan L. Snyder and wife, Debra, and Linda Monroe and husband, Gary "Buzz," all of Polk, Gary E. Snyder and wife, Rose, and Karen Wright and husband, Mark, all of Titusville, Brian E. Snyder of Oil City, Michael G. Snyder and Barbara A. Snyder, both of Franklin, and Clara Jane Wagner and husband, Kenneth, of Meadville; a stepson, Robert W. Ditzenberger Jr. and wife, Marlene, of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers, Leonard C. Doutt and wife, Helen, of Franklin and David B. Doutt and wife, Johnine,, of Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Shirley A. McChesney of Franklin and Dori M. Wagner of San Diego, Calif. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Ditzenberger was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one son, Raymond L. Grimm, 90, of Myrtle Street, Emlenton, died unexpectedly at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, shortly after her arrival at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Miller, 52, of Franklin, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at his residence. Born May 26, 1953, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lois Jean Ayers Miller. Mr. Miller was employed as a press operator for Franklin Industries. He was a member of the Franklin Free Methodist Church. Mr. Miller loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was married Dec. 12, 1992, to Alice Shaw, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Timothy Miller of Franklin; two stepchildren, Michael Shaw and Lisa Shaw, both of Franklin. He also is survived by a brother, Garrett Miller, of Oil City; and two sisters, Mildred Miller and Sherrie Miller, both of Franklin. Seitz, 24, of Shippenville, formerly of Marble, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Clarion Hospital of complications following child birth. Born June 21, 1980, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Gerald and Theresa Baughman Seitz. She lived in the Marble-Shippenville area all her life. She attended Keystone schools and graduated in 1999 from Keystone High School, Knox. Ms. Seitz had worked at various places including BiLo and McDonald's. She attended St. Michael Church in Fryburg and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Knox. Surviving are a daughter, Alexis Hartle; a son, Jordan Colwell; and a daughter, Casedee Seitz, born June 6, 2005. She also is survived by two sisters, Carrie Wingard and husband, Timothy "Chip," of Shippenville, and Alicia Horne and husband, Samuel, of Pittsfield; her grandparents, Francis and Mary Beichner Baughman of Millerstown Road, Shippenville, and Francis and Alma Brothers Seitz of Lucinda; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.. Betty Jane Shoffstall Betty Jane Shoffstall, 85, formerly of 24 Second Ave., Franklin, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born May 21, 1920, in Rocky Grove, she was the daughter of James Nelson and Pearl P. Fuery Shull, and attended the public schools in Rocky Grove. Mrs. Shoffstall was employed in housekeeping at the Franklin Hospital until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Mrs. Shoffstall enjoyed her pet dogs. She was married April 5, 1946, to Herbert A. Shoffstall, who died July 21, 1963. They lived in Sharon and following his death, Mrs. Shoffstall returned to Franklin. Surviving are three brothers, Herbert H. Shull of Aurora, Colo., Homer E. Shull of Orlando, Fla., and Richard Shull of Oil City; three sisters, Dorothy Baker, Carla Haney and Phyllis Lepley, all of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shoffstall was preceded in death by three sisters, Millie Kugler, Charlotte Chapin and Audine Cotterman; and four brothers, Robert, Alfred, James and Elson Shull.
