McChesney, West Hickory Richard R. Redick, Eau Claire Margery Jane Bowsman Valimont, Mount Union Getting it right - Sandra Lee Yocum John Allen Beck John Allen Beck, 66, of Knox Road, Knox, died Thursday evening, Oct. 11, 2007, in Clarion Hospital. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. Alice M. Ekis, 90, formerly of Marienville, died early Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Titusville, where she resided. Born May 15, 1917, in Forest County, she was the daughter of William and Iva Hetrick Reed. Mrs. Ekis worked for Knox Glass in Marienville and retired around 1965. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Marienville VFW. Surviving are a son, Robert D. Allio and his wife, Nancy, of Cooperstown; a daughter, Janice Irwin and her husband, Russ, of Warren; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two infant brothers. Friends and family may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Borland Funeral Home Inc. in Leeper. funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Cupp, a Nazarene minister and son-in-law of Robert Allio, officiating. Interment will follow in the Redclyffe Cemetery. Rita M. Kokai, 89, a resident of East Palestine, Ohio, formerly of Oil City, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, in Hospice House of Poland, Ohio. Born April 23, 1918, in Oil City, she was a daughter of William J. and Florence W. Hopwood Tobin. She was a 1937 graduate of Oil City Senior High School. Mrs. Kokai was a member of St. Stephen Church. She was a past member of the Rosary-Altar Society and the Monday Afternoon Club. She had been a cafeteria worker at St Stephen School. On Jan. 24, 1942, she was married in St. Stephen Church to John L. Kokai, who preceded her in death April 10, 1990. Surviving are four daughters, Martha Bukolt and husband, Don, of Oil City, Wilma Stalter and husband, Zane, of East Palestine, Ohio, Mary Devaney and husband, Tom, of Lynnfield, Mass., and Karen Lamson of Butler; five grandchildren, Christine Moyer of Erie, Jeffrey Bukolt of Del Rio, Texas, Ryan Devaney of Charlotte, N.C., Maura Devaney of Newark, Del., and Caralyn Devaney of Lynnfield, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Robert Tobin of Lincoln University, Pa.; and two sisters, Helen Stroupe of Oil City and Mildred Stanton of Michigan City, Ind. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kokai was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Tobin; and three sisters, Marian Wierbinski, Sister Joan Tobin, O.S.B., and Ella Miller. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephen Church. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio, 44512. Sandra L. McChesney Sandra L. McChesney, 62, of West Hickory, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, in her home in Harmony Township, Forest County. Born Feb. 20, 1945, in Titusville, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Geraldine Howell Wilson. Mrs. McChesney enjoyed sewing, crafts and spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons, Scott A. McChesney of Martinez, Ga., and Kent E. McChesney of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Andria, Taylor and Mayson; and a companion, Douglas Swires. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene McChesney. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in the West Hickory United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the West Hickory Cemetery, West Hickory. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta. Richard R. Redick Richard R. Redick, 68, of Eau Claire, who is survived by three sisters, five brothers and numerous nieces and nephews, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2007, in Clepper Manor Care Center, Sharon, following an extended illness. Margery Jane Bowsman Valimont Margery Jane Bowsman Valimont, 86, of Mount Union, died Wednesday, Oct, 10, 2007, in Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. Born in 1921, she was the daughter of Charles Wilson Bowsman and Louise Elizabeth Staehle Bowsman. She was a graduate of Mount Union High School. Mrs. Valimont retired as an employee of the Department of Public Welfare in Huntingdon. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Mount Union. Mrs. Valimont's hobbies included knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, genealogy, reading, ceramics and traveling, especially bus trips. She was married in Mount Union Dec. 25, 1944, to Dean L. Valimont, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Dottie Valimont of Oil City and Mike Valimont and wife, Kim, of Mount Union; three grandchildren, Elijah Valimont of Franklin, Tenn., Noel Cramer of Huntingdon and Marc Valimont of Mount Union; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Vasquez, Carson Cramer and Callie Cramer. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Catherine Catholic Church, Mount Union. Interment will be in the Mount Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, 17243. Getting it right - Sandra Lee Yocum Sandra Lee Yocum, 71, of 205 Woodland Drive, Oil City, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, in her daughter's residence, 18 S. Walnut St., Lewistown. Mrs. Yocum was a 1953 graduate of Lewistown High School. The Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
