Wynkoop, Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Clarion County Robert G. Armagost Robert G. Armagost, 41, of Petroleum Center Road, Plumer, Oil City, died unexpectedly in his home. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Jerry L. "Gorilla" Clemens, 61, of South Bethlehem, died Sunday evening, Oct. 28, 2007, in his home following an illness. Born Jan. 30, 1946, in Distant, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Michiline Clemens. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Clemens was employed by Clarion University for 30 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer and snow skier. Mr. Clemens married Carol Gould Dec. 3, 1967, and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Annette King and husband, Todd, of New Bethlehem; and one granddaughter, Macy King of New Bethlehem. He also is survived by three sisters, Millie Dawson, Louise Snyder and Mona Henry, all of New Bethlehem; his father-in-law, James Gould and his friend, Ruby Bailey, both of New Bethlehem; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clemens was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Richard Clemens. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. today in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. James Swogger officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Armstrong County VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, 16001. David L. Hoffman, 79, formerly of Franklin, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home where he had resided since March 2004. Born Jan. 3, 1928, near Dillsburg, he was the son of the late Lester E. and Lydia L. Bucher Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Army in 1946 and 1947. In 1952, he graduated from Penn State with a degree in civil engineering and was registered as a professional engineer in Pennsylvania from 1960 through 1997. He began his career with Capitol Engineering Corp. in Dillsburg and moved to Franklin in 1966 to become a district bridge engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He also worked for other engineering firms in Northwest Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and New York City. When his children were young, Mr. Hoffman served as committee chairman and Cub master for Cub Scout packs in Dillsburg and Franklin. He also served as Booster Club president and financial director for the Twin City Imperials Drum and Bugle Corps. Before his health failed, Mr. Hoffman enjoyed golfing, pitching horseshoes and running in 5K races. His mother and he passed down to their children and grandchildren the family passion for the game of pinochle, which he was still able to play until a few months ago. On April 5, 1950, he married Mary Anna Lauer, who preceded him in death June 10, 1995. Surviving are his six children, Linda Hoffman of Gettysburg, Douglas Hoffman and wife, Barbara, of Camp Hill, Jere Hoffman of Sarasota, Fla., Branden Hoffman of St. Paul, Minn., Brian Hoffman of Castle Rock, Colo., and Lisa Dillion of Rouseville; 10 grandchildren, Lane and Jessi DeLong, Brooke Wentworth Brown, Julie Dillion Amsdell, Andrew, Adam, Ramona, Bradley, Nicole and Cory Hoffman; and one great-granddaughter, Layla Grace DeLong. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, his sister, Mae Leathery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Gresick, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Franklin, officiating. Hubauer, 91, of Stoney Lonesome Road, Clarion, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2007, in her home. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Joseph Obrok Joseph Obrok, 90, of 303 Orange St,. Oil City, formerly of Pittsfield RD 2, Sanford, died at 11:41 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Sept. 17, 1917, in Jamisonville, he was the son of Frank and Frances Obrok. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a MP in Norfolk, Va. Mr. Obrok was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he was a foreman. He was a member of the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Obrok enjoyed his dogs and riding motorcycles. His wife, Erna (Neitzel) Obrok, died April 4, 1990. Surviving are two daughters, Lois Nelson and husband, Randy, of North East and Sandy Donaldson of Endicott, N.Y.; a grandson and granddaughter, Joseph Nelson and Katie Nelson of North East; grandsons, Jon, Matt, and Tyler Donaldson of Endicott, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Inc., 54 W. Main St., Youngsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Eiss of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. A graveside service will be held in Sanford Cemetery. Virginia Elizabeth 'Ginny' Garbien Puleo Virginia Elizabeth "Ginny" Garbien Puleo of Oil City and Erie, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in The Corry Manor. Born July 30, 1923, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Garbien. Mrs. Puleo took great delight in the lives and talents of her eight grandchildren. She had an infectious smile, a spirited laugh and a love for life that "the Gang" will forever treasure. Surviving are a son, Stephen Michael Puleo and wife, Diane, of Oil City; a daughter, Patricia Candace Henry and husband, Richard, of Union City; eight grandchildren, Christopher Michael Puleo and wife, Kristine, Matthew Joseph Puleo, Valerie Toscano and husband, Nicholas, Anthony Costa and wife, Robyn, Michael Costa and wife, Gretchen, Timothy Costa and wife, Carol, Anne Lefebre and husband, David, and Andrew Costa; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph J. Garbien and his wife, Josephine, of Franklin. No calling hours will be observed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Teresa Catholic Church, 9 Third Ave., Union City, with the Rev. Thomas Suppa presiding. The Glenn Funeral Home, 62 S. Edgar Jewell Stitt, 79, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, formerly of Kellettville and Tionesta RD, died at 9:03 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, in the Clarion Hospital following a period of failing health. Born May 2, 1928, in Cherry Run, Clarion County, he was the son of Jesse Jewell Stitt and Ruth Ellen Greenawalt Stitt. He attended the Cherry Run Elementary School. Mr. Stitt retired as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Stitt enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was married in Grove City Sept. 21, 1956, to the former Marilyn Ruth Hodil, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Clinton Jewell Stitt and wife, Rebecca, of Sligo, Jesse Leonard Stitt of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Todd Raymond Stitt and wife, Wanda, of Lake Lucy; two daughters, Ruth Ann Haibach of Youngsville and Lori Ann Mattson of Toledo, Ohio; and eight grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Connell Stitt of Petrolia and Gary Stitt and wife, Patricia, of West Sunbury; three sisters, Mrs. Miriam Shook of Sligo, Mrs. Edna Swartfager of Knox and Mrs. Marjorie Horner and husband, Lanny, of Dutch Hill; and a brother-in-law, Cleo A. Hawk of Sligo. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stitt was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Patricia Hawk, March 22, 2006; a brother, Ronald Stitt, January of 1996; and a son-in-law, Michael Mattson, Oct. 10, 2004. A private family viewing was held in the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg. Private interment took place in the Sligo Cemetery. Memorial set for Robert L. Wynkoop A memorial service for Robert L. Wynkoop, 93, a former Clarion County resident who died recently in Long Beach, Calif., will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Salem Community Building. Born Jan. 18, 1914, in Madison Township, Clarion County, he was the son of George and Maude Summerville Wynkoop. He entered the U.S. Army and served with the 29th Coast Artillery in Hawaii and was honorably discharged in September 1939. Mr. Wynkoop was an electrician by trade and owned and operated one of the first TV and radio shops in Clarion County for many years. He moved to California in 1963 and for more than 30 years was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12. He designed and built control systems for the concrete and aggregate industry. Mr. Wynkoop was married to Helen E. Reedy, who died in 1996. Surviving are his second wife, Josephine, of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Nancy A. Beary of Columbiana, Ohio, and Katy L. Burns of New Bethlehem; and a son, Robert J. Wynkoop of Knox. He also is survived by a brother, Ralph Wynkoop, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and David Wynkoop, and three sisters, Georgia Shreckengost, Mary Della Chandler and Ruby Fennel.
