    3. The Derrick, October 23, 2007: John D. Sullivan, Sligo Frank A. "Red" Vrana, Oil City, formerly of Pittsburgh John D. Sullivan, 76, of Sligo, died early Monday morning, Oct. 22, 2007, in his residence following an extended illness. Born July 28, 1931, in St. Petersburg, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Bessie Brothers Sullivan. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps March 28, 1952, and was honorably discharged March 27, 1955, with the rank of corporal. He served in Korea and earned the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, National Defense and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Sullivan was employed for many years as an aircraft mechanic for Airlift International Airways in Miami, Fla. He later was employed as a truck driver for Cooper-Jarrett Transportation in West Middlesex, retiring there in 1981. He was affiliated with the Park Hill Church of God in West Freedom. For many years, Mr. Sullivan served with Station 1690 of Perry Township Ambulance Service. He was both an EMT and CPR certified attendant. He also was certified as an instructor of both phases in emergency work. Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Rimersburg. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Ruth Wright Sullivan; one daughter, Dorothy Knight of Sligo; three sons, E-5 DeWayne Sullivan and wife, Rebecca, of the U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., and twins, Clayton Scott and Donovan Duane Sullivan, both at home; and 11 grandchildren. He also is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Bill (Eleanor) Shreffler of Emlenton, Mrs. Ted (Peg) Krajewski of West Sunbury, Mrs. Mary Bartley, Mrs. Larry (Helen) Linamen and Mrs. Robert (Roberta) Gates, all of Emlenton, and Mrs. Homer (Linda) McHenry of Knox; six brothers, James R., Paul L. and Richard D. "Dick" Sullivan, all of Hilliards, Butler County, Frank, William A. and Robert E. Sullivan, all of Emlenton; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons and two nephews. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home Inc., Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Atwood Cemetery, Armstrong County. Frank A. 'Red' Vrana Frank A. "Red" Vrana, 74, of Oil City, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in his residence. Mr. Vrana was a 45-year member of Operating Engineers Local No. 66. He was the husband of Kathleen Hodil Vrana, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle Murray and husband, Warren, and Nanette Vrana. Mr. Vrana also is survived by a brother, Ron Vrana. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Services and interment will be private. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, Wexford Professional Building II, Suite 2104, 11676 Perry Highway, Wexford, 15090, or to the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society, 3005 Banksville Road, Pittsburgh, 15216.
