Barrett, 77, of Meadow Church Road, Cranberry, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2007, in the Golden Living Center of Oil City. Greene Jr., 63, of 369 Sugarcreek Drive, Franklin, died at 8:02 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born March 2, 1944, in Oil City, he was the son of Robert A. Greene Sr. and Margaret L. McFadden Greene Irwin, who survives in Rouseville. Mr. Greene was a 1963 graduate of Oil City High School and lived in the Oil City area all of his life. He served as an airman third class in the U.S. Air Force from June of 1963 to July of 1964. Mr. Greene was employed in the V.R.S. Department at Polk Center for a number of years until his retirement. While working at Polk Center he served as the president of the Polk A.F.S.C.M.E. He was Catholic in faith. Mr. Greene's hobbies included golf and shooting pool in the Franklin Men's Pool League. He was married July 14, 2001, to Debra S. Green, who survives, along with his mother, Margaret Irwin of Rousevillle. Also surviving are two daughters, Kristen Ashe of Tucson, Ariz., and Kim Moseley of Wichita, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Lindi Sayers, Laura Nelson and Rachel Everhart, all of the Franklin area; five grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren. He also is survived by one brother and his wife, John and Karen Greene of Oil City; three sisters, Marilyn Lineman and Susanne Warzel and husband, Chuck, all of Rouseville, and Jo Anne Tate and husband, Melvin, of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his father. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hutchinson Funeral Home, 201 Bissell Ave., Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ron C. Bole, VNA Hospice minister, officiating. Interment will be in Rynd Farm Cemetery. Richard A. Harris Richard A. Harris, 74 of Inglewood, Calif., a former Clarion resident, died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, in his home. Born June 6, 1933, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Ida Rebecca Mahle Harris. Mr. Harris attended the Clarion schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War from April 30, 1955, to June 30, 1961. Following the war, Mr. Harris was employed first in Tucson, Ariz., and later in the Los Angeles area as an aerospace machinist, lastly for the McDonnell Douglas Corp., retiring May 30, 1994, with 40 years of service. Surviving are numerous cousins in the Clarion, Knox, Meadville and Cochranton areas, and one cousin in the Denver, Colo., area. He was preceded in death by his mother, "Becky" Harris in 1982. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Miola Cemetery in Miola with the Rev. Arnie Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow there. Hart, 80, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Oil City, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, in Bonita Springs where she had resided since 1980. Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Van, she was a daughter of Charles and Dora Linn Eakin. She earned an associate degree from Edinboro University in 1981. Mrs. Hart had worked in the educational department at Polk Center for 25 years. Prior to that, she held various secretarial positions in the area including Grace United Methodist Church. For the last 10 years, she was the administrative assistant for the First United Methodist Church of Bonita Springs. Music had been a great part of her life, having been an organist for several local churches and in Bonita Springs and she sang in several choruses including the Bonita Springs Chorus. Mrs. Hart had been an inspiration to all who knew and loved her On Aug. 24, 1945, she married Donald G. Hart, who preceded her in death June 7, 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Christine R. Silvis and husband, George, of Seneca and Susan D. Herrell White and husband, Eugene White Jr. of Bonita Springs; six grandchildren, Angela Bavuso and husband, Tony, Sarah Herrell Lu, Alison Carson and husband, Robb, Michael Silvis, Stacy Herrell and Steven Herrell; and seven great-grandchildren, A.J., Orrin and Chloe Bavuso, Dylan Lu, Aiden Ward, and Ashley and Trey Carson. She also is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Estep of Sacramento, Calif., Pauline Boring and husband, Donald Winger, of Oil City, and Lillian Etzel and husband, Merle, of East Aurora, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert R. Main St., Titusville, died Sunday morning October 14, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Hicks was born April 7, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late William C. and Stella Dombrowski Hicks. He was formerly employed for over 31 years at Foster-Forbes Glass in Rouseville, Northwest Motors and Northwest Bus Service of Titusville. Mr. Hicks was a former member of Country Royals CB Association of Centerville. Dick enjoyed antique cars, going to car shows, camping and watching television. Survivors include his wife Marilyn Betz Hicks whom he married July 24, 1953 in Rouseville; three children Gayle Turk and her companion Michael Lange of Friendly, Nevada, Laurie Poole and her companion Jim Cordle of Lincoln, Nebraska and Bruce A,. Hicks and his wife Judy of Conneautville; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Schillinger of North East; a brother Paul Hicks and his wife Becky of Webster, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Robert "Randy" Mathews, 52, of Meadow Church Road, Cranberry, formerly of Franklin, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in the Golden Living Center of Shippenville. Born Aug. 9, 1955, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Floyd and Hazel Miller Mathews. He was a 1973 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Mathews was employed locally at both Joy Manufacturing and Conair in Franklin. He also worked at Hi-Tide Marine Lifts in Ocean City,Md. Most recently he was employed as a machinist for Hards Welding of Seneca. He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 110. Mr. Mathews was of the Methodist faith. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are two children, Eric Mathews of Rockland and his special friend, Karen Harkless, and Nicole Hoffman and husband, Raymond, of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Abby and Evan, of Franklin. He also is survived by a brother, Ronald Mathews and wife, Ann, of Cranberry; a sister, Judith Mathews of Seneca and her friend, David Weaver, also of Seneca; two nieces, Kelly Mathews of Danberry, Conn., and her fiancé, Mike Debald, and Michelle Show, her husband, Bill, and their son, Cody, of Tippery; a nephew, Christopher Mathews of Battlecreek, Mich., and his daughter, McKenna; and Mr. Mathews' best friend, Denny Sharp, of Snow Hill, Md. 'Dot' Miller Dorothy J. "Dot" Miller, 86, of Church Street, Summerville, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, in her residence. Born Aug. 28, 1921, in Summerville, she was the daughter of Calvin J. and Alice Ada Keller Powell. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Brookville. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker throughout her life and her hobbies included crafts, ceramics and cooking. She was married in the Shannondale Lutheran Church April 18, 1954, to Harold R. Miller, who survives. Also surviving are five nieces, six nephews and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin M. and Dorothy Powell. Proper, 87, of 316 Congress Drive, Oil City, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, after an extended illness. Born Dec. 5, 1919, in Oil City, he was the son of Lee Roy and Charlotte Sweet Proper. Mr. Proper had worked at the Allied Barrell Works, Struthers Wells and last at Cyclops in the cold roll mill. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Proper enjoyed playing his guitar, was a gospel singer and did backup singing for Kathryn Kuhlman and her ministry. In the 1940s and 1950s he and his siblings sang on the radio and were known as the Radio Gospel Singers. He was part of the group which founded the Mount Caramel Tabernacle in Dempseytown. Mr. Proper was married Aug. 2, 1941, in Christ Lutheran parsonage to Pauline A. Kurschinske, who survives. Also surviving are two children and their spouses, Kathy and Walt "Gene" Harkless of Mesa, Ariz., and Vicky and Art Winters of Rouseville; four grandchildren, Lisa and Lou Morgan and their son, Adam, Susan and Matt Oberbrunner and their children, Megan, Hannah and Brett, Alicia Merrit III and her son, Dockery; Leigh Ann and Mitchell Alsup and their children, Rebecca and Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Proper was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen; three brothers, Alvin, Clifford and an infant, Richard Proper; and three sisters, Betty Witmer, Ella McClellan and Marie Bittenbender. Runninger, 65, of 321 E. Third St., Oil City, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in his home. Born July 7, 1942, in Pleasantville, he was a son of John and Alice Ashbaugh Runninger. Mr. Runninger was a self-employed painter. Surviving are a son, Tom Runninger of Harmonsburg; two daughters, Kathy Frank of Illinois and Rhonda Littlesky of South Dakota; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He also is survived by two brothers, Kenny Runninger and Raymond Runninger, both of Oregon; three sisters, Beverly Thomas of Seneca, Louise Seeley of Pleasantville and Norma Schreckengost of Polk; one half brother, Tom Bowery; and two half sisters, Judy Bowery and Carol Bowery. "Jack" Slike, 56, of Eastwood Drive, Clarion, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in his residence surrounded by his wife, family and friends. Born Sept. 3, 1951, in Grove City, he was the son of the late John Henry and Phyllis Glosser Slike. He was a 1969 graduate of Clarion Area High School and attended Butler Community College. Mr. Slike drove truck for more than 35 years for several different companies until his illness. He retired from Transport America. He had a sense of humor and once he met strangers and told a joke, people thought of him as a friend forever. Mr. Slike was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion and the Fraternal Order of the Knights of St. George. He was involved in the YMCA, coaching flag football and baseball and the McKeever Learning Center. Mr. Slike was married June 29, 2002, to Linda Dunkle, who survives. They opened their home and lives to many foster children and enjoyed having theses children as part of their family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Amy Jo Slike and fiancé, John McDuffie, of North Carolina and Lori Lauer and husband, Chad, of Knox; one son, Damien Slike at home; two stepsons, Shane McHenry and wife, Silke, of Lucinda and Stuart McHenry and wife, Joey, of Fisher; and eight grandchildren, Braden, Jade, Nya, Emily, Andrew, Johnny, Kayla and Jason. He also is survived by four brothers, Rick Slike and wife, Sue, of Shippenville, Barry Slike and wife, Carla, of Boalsburg, Vance Slike and wife, Tammy, of Shippenville and Kevin Slike of Clarion; two sisters, Neva Fleming and husband, Dan, of Clarion and Vanessa Kriebel and husband, Bob, of Clarion; and the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Marty Dunkle, Earl and Marion Dunkle, Ray and Bonnie Dunkle, Harry "Hook" and Kay Dunkle and Jan Smith. George Wike Jr., 69, of 55th Street North, Pinellas Park, Fla., formerly of Clarion, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at Woodside Hospice, Pinellas Park, after battling a lengthy illness. In the spring of 2005, he and his wife, Marjorie, moved to Pinellas Park. Born June 6, 1938, in Strattanville, he was the son of the late George Harvey Wike Sr. and Rosemay Miller Wike. He was a 1957 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School. Mr. Wike attended weekly services with his family at St. Nicholas Church in Crates. After working for Coca-Cola, Strohman Bread and ownership of McKean Beverage, Mr. Wike retired to his pleasured hobby of gardening. He was married in the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, April 30, 1960, to Marjorie A. Glosser, who survives. They were married for 47 years. Also surviving are one son, George Michael Wike and wife, Marsha, of Waterford; four daughters, Tammy Summerville and husband, Mike, of Cranesville, Sherry Wike of Labadie, MO., Darlene Rupert and husband, Rusty, and Kimberly Vance and husband, Kenny, all of Pinellas Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one and a half great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Marie Smith of Pennsylvania and Jenny Grady of Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents.
