Blair, Oil City, formerly of 816 Sharrar Road, Venus Virginia Lee Callen Grimm, Water Run Road, Clarion Evangeline Brown Ward, Townville, S.C., formerly of Kennerdell area Peggy Ann Snyder Wilson, Emlenton Ethel L. Blair, 86, formerly of 816 Sharrar Road, Venus, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Born Aug. 16, 1922, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Frank and Helen Glass Bish. Mrs. Blair was retired from the Holiday Inn, now the Arlington, in Oil City, where she was a housekeeper. She was married to William H. Blair, who preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1980. Surviving are a daughter, Elsie Culp and husband, Don, of Venus; three grandchildren, Billy Blair of Meadville, Rob Blair and his wife, Laurie, of Titusville and Joe Culp and wife, Heather, of Fertigs; and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Bertha "Mag" Davis of Seneca; and several nieces and nephews including Betty Denny, Ron Davis, Ken Davis, Helen Hogue, Tina Beatty and Louie Stover. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by one son, Max W. Blair; one brother, Frank Bish; and four sisters, Pearly Weaver, Elda Edwards, Lillian Stover and Gerry Lesh. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. John R. Friggle, associate pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Virginia Lee Callen Grimm, 86, of Water Run Road, Clarion, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, in her residence. Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Florence, Kans., she was the daughter of Roland Charles Callen and Essie Mae Simpson Callen Orcutt, and her stepparents, Emery Wakefield Orcutt and Arlene Wright Gilson Orcutt. Mrs. Grimm was a draftsman and had worked for General Engineering and Taylor Engineering. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion and belonged to the Project Group, Women of Grace. Mrs. Grimm was a charter member of Bi-County Artists, a member of a bridge club for more than 63 years and the Owens Illinois Auxiliary. She enjoyed church, crafts, painting, family and friends and sewing. On Oct. 9, 1938, she married William Wayne Grimm Sr., who preceded her in death Sept. 12, 2004. Surviving are two sons, Barry Lee Grimm and wife, Georgette, and Gregory Grimm and wife, Deb, all of Shippenville; one daughter, Linda Lu Grimm Magness of Clarion; a daughter-in-law, Anita Grimm Cronk of Lakeland, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Richard and Linda Grimm of Murphy, N.C,, Dawn and Chris Hellsten of Orlando, Fla., Virginia Grimm Kelly of Lakeland, Fla., Jeannette and Tim Musser of Clarion, Barry and Sherry Grimm of Birdsboro, Jeff and Greta Grimm of Ford City, Jerri Beth and Tim Martin of Strattanville, Michelle Magness and Robert Bish of Clarion, Lauri and Clint Terza of Marietta, Ga., and Brandi Grimm of Lacombe, La.; 18 great-grandchildren, Heather and Dusty McMillan of Murphy, N.C., Brittany Grimm of Murphy, N.C., Lindsay, Sydney and Mackenzie Hellsten, all of Orlando, Fla., Kaitlyn Grimm of Knox, Christopher Magness of Clarion, David, Alexandria and Elizabeth Bish, all of Clarion, Abby and Zach Musser of Clarion, Devin, Morgan and Reese Terza, all of Marietta, Ga., and Hunter, Wade and Tatum Grimm, all of Birdsboro; and one great-great-grandchild, Brandon McMillan of Murphy, N.C She also is survived by one sister, Betty Orcutt Hach and husband, Ed, of Duke Center. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Grimm was preceded in death by two sons, William "Bill" Grimm Jr. and an infant son. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Harold Jacobson and the Rev. Deborah Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice, Shippenville, or to the Grace Lutheran Church, Clarion. Evangeline Brown Ward Evangeline Brown Ward, 72, of Townville, S.C., a former resident of the Kennerdell area, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, in Anderson, S.C., following an extended illness. Born Jan. 6, 1935, in Moorehead, Ky., she was the daughter of Samuel and Rosie Alice Sweeney Brown. She attended the Bullion School. Mrs. Ward was a devoted Christian, housewife and mother. She was married to Robert Charles Ward, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Rose Mary Parades, one granddaughter, Aleta Parades, and two grandsons, Jose and Ignacis Parades, all of Florida. She also is survived by three brothers, Avery Brown of Franklin, Linden Brown and wife, Darlene, of South Carolina and Paul Brown and wife, Linda, of Kennerdell; one sister, Mary Vogus and husband, Claire, of Franklin; and one sister-in-law, Jeannie Brown of Utica. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Brown, James Brown and Eugene Brown; and a sister, Ruby Brown Bopp. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Walter Witherup of the Seneca Assembly of God, officiating. Interment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Peggy Ann Snyder Wilson, 73, of Emlenton, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 2, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following a brief illness. Born April 18, 1934, in East Brady, she was the daughter of the late Addison and Ethel Wolfe Snyder. She was a graduate of the former East Brady High School and earned her registered nursing degree following nurse training in Virginia. Mrs. Wilson was the owner-operator of the former Snyder Rest (Nursing) Home in Emlenton from 1966 until her retirement in 2003. She worked for many years as an EMT with the Emlenton Area Ambulance Service. Mrs. Wilson's hobbies were many including painting, working puzzles, tending to birds, collecting angels and caring for her dog. Owning the nursing home enhanced her skills at baking and cooking, not only for the residents but for her family and friends. She was proud to have been an owner of a white Ford Mustang for many years. She was known not only for her wit and humor but for her sincere desire to help people in need. Surviving are her son, Richard Loring Eskew II of Emlenton; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Darcell) Lutz of Emlenton and Carol Jean Wilson of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Barb Harrah, Laurie McNany, Jeremiah Lutz, Tonya Beatty, Rusty Lutz, Ryan Wilson and Carly Wilson; and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Susan Winschell of Arizona and Evelyn Fye of Sharon; and a number of nieces and nephews.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Loring Eskew and John C. Wilson; one daughter, Thelma Powell; one sister, Shirley Montgomery; and two brothers, Harry and Sid Snyder. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home Inc., Main Street, Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be held at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
