Bowser, 87, of 101 Pauls Lane, Rimersburg (Huey), died at 6:05 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at his home following an illness. Born July 17, 1917, in Proptown, Armstrong County, he was the son of Mont Aaron and Ellen Martha Davis Bowser. Mr. Bowser attended the Huey Elementary School and at an early age, he began work at the Slope Coal Mines in Huey. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophesy at Huey and was a 65-year member of the New Athens Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent, trustee and church treasurer. Mr. Bowser's interests were his family, his church and his wife. He was married in Clarion Feb. 4, 1939, to the former Edna Ruth Fair, who died April 16, 2004. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Paul A. and Judith Bowser of Janesville, Wis., and William G. "Jerry" and Linda Bowser of Huey; three daughters, Judith L Hutchison and D.A. of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Connie M. Nellis and husband, Earl, of Janesville, Wis., and Wilma L. Crispen of Huey; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers, Ronald Bowser and wife, Lois, of Huey and Melvin Bowser of Clarion; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bowser was preceded in death by six brothers, Lawrence, Thomas, Walter, John, the Rev. George Bowser and the Rev. Hulbert Bowser; four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Johnson, Mrs. Dorothy Kline, Jenny Bowser and Clare Bowser; and two grandchildren, Vernon Paul Strickland, Aug. 28, 1982, and Cassie Jean Crispen, in 1987. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Colin Koch, pastor of the New Hope Church of God of Prophecy, Clarion, and the Rev. Randy Evans, VNA Hospice pastor, officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery. Jessie M. Davis Jessie M. Davis, 78, of 1220 Chestnut St., Franklin, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin Born Dec. 10, 1925, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Edmund and Harriet Manson Blair. Mrs. Davis worked as an aide at Venango Manor. She was married to Paul A. Davis, who died Jan. 7, 1995. Surviving are a son and his wife, Thomas E. and Linda Pokora of Summerville, N.C.; and a daughter and her husband, Jana R. and Charles "Yogi" Johnson of Franklin; and three grandchildren, Azizi, Alexis and Aryen Johnson, all of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, June O'Polka of Franklin; and two stepchildren, Paula Krizon of Parker, Colo., and Kenneth Davis of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a son, John M. Pokora; and a sister, Virginia Ausel. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Peters, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the VNA Foundation. Getting it right - Charles W. Spuck Charles W. Spuck - Charles W. Spuck, 88, of Reynoldsville RD 2, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. Among his survivors are a son, Tim Spuck and wife, Karen, of Oil City. Among those who preceded him in death were two sisters, Rosemary Spuck and Anne Pane.
