    3. Robert James Burns, Parker, formerly of Oil City David James DeHart, Elliot Road, Sligo Guy C. "Charlie" Rogers, 909 Sunville Road, Franklin Robert James Burns, 84, of Parker Heights Apartment 306, 302 N. Wayne St., Parker, formerly of Oil City, died at 12:58 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Clarion Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Burns had been a resident of Hermitage for a number of years before moving to Parker to be near his son and family because of poor health. Born Aug. 21, 1920, in Oil City, he was the son of John J. and Rose Murphy Burns. Mr. Burns served in the Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant during World War II. He retired in 1982 as a rate auditor from Boss-Linco Lines in Buffalo after 25 years of service. He also worked for Eazor Trucking in Sharon. Mr. Burns was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed baseball. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Mr. Burns was married in Atlantic City Nov. 7, 1942, to the former June Eleanor Godfrey of Buffalo. She survives. Also surviving are a son and his wife, John and Linda Burns of Parker; six grandchildren, Daniel Burns of Chicora, Matthew Burns of Karns City, Jennifer Fisher of Butler, Robert Burns of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Craig Burns and Rebecca Burns, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Burns of Buffalo, N.Y. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by one son, Robert Paul Burns, in 1982 and a half brother, Arthur Burns. "Charlie" Rogers, 51, of 909 Sunville Road, Franklin, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at his residence. Born Nov. 14, 1952, in Franklin, he was the son of Frederick and Janet Flickner Rogers. Mr. Rogers presently was employed as a unit operator for Merisol Antioxidant. He also worked as an assemblyman for Joy Manufacturing and was a unit operator for Pennzoil for more than 28 years. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He was an active church member, having been a member of the administrative board, assistant treasurer, previous youth council leader and former chairman of the pastor-parish committee. Mr. Rogers enjoyed hunting, family vacations, helping others and spending time with family and friends. He was married June 3, 1978, to Kathleen McCarren, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Janet Rogers of Dempseytown; and two children, Adam and Joseph Rogers, both at home. He also is survived by three brothers and their wives, Larry and Brenda Rogers of Rouseville, the Rev. Timothy and Shirley Rogers of Addison and Douglas and Donna Rogers of Dempseytown; and one sister, Carla Tarr and husband, Michael, of Dempseytown. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Roberts, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Timothy Rogers, pastor of Addison United Methodist Church and brother of the deceased, officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church, 3936 State Route 417, Cooperstown, 16317, or to the VNA Foundation, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301.
