McIver, 34709 Crowther Road, Titusville Johan Michiel "John" Pfauth, Philadephia, formerly of West Hickory Mary L. Scott Schafer, Monroeville, formerly of the Emlenton area Francis P. Summerville, Brookville, formerly of Clarion Teresa Vernesoni, Seminole Gene R. Clark Gene R. Clark, 74, of 35631 Circuit Drive, (Canadohta Lake) Union City, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at his residence. Born Dec. 18, 1929, in Oil City, he was the son of Wilfred Clark and Eve Moon Clark Peters. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy for one year active duty and six years with the resesrves. He was employed from 1950 to 1958 with Lyons Transportation Lines and from 1958 to 1962 with Prudential. He returned to Lyons in 1962, retiring there in 1990. Mr. Clark and his wife also owned and operated Clark's Cozy Cottage Court in Canadohta Lake. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Titusville and attended Lincolnville Baptist Church. Mr. Clark was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Union City Country Club. He was an avid golfer and loved to sing in the church choir. Mr. Clark was married in the Lincolnville Baptist Church Feb. 4, 1951, to Betty Jean Weed, who died Oct. 16, 2002. Surviving are four children, the Rev. Chris Clark and wife, Judy, of Emlenton, Curtis Clark of Titusville, Cheryl Purser of Sarasota, Fla., and Calvin Clark and wife, Jennifer, of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He also is survived by one brother, Jack Clark and wife, Norma, of Titusville. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wilfred Clark; and his grandparents, Harold and Nora Clark, who partially raised him. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Clark officiating, assisted by the rest of the Clark family. Interment will be in the Rootville Cemetery. Shirley Speerstra Fuqua Shirley Speerstra Fuqua, 73, of Bushnell, Fla., formerly of Oil City, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, in Bushnell. Born March 5, 1931, at Oakwood Rose Gardens, Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Henry John Speerstra and Katherine Speerstra DeLucia. She attended Sage Run Elementary School and was a 1949 graduate of Cranberry High School. After graduation, Mrs. Fuqua worked at Oil City National Bank and Woolworth's before moving to Florida, where she worked several years for Winn Dixie. Mrs. Fuqua enjoyed crocheting, gardening and keeping in touch with her family. She was unique in remembering every birthday and wedding date. She was married to George Fuqua, who survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Beatrice Rembold and husband, Paul, and Marjorie Wessell and husband, James, all of Seneca, and Patricia Strickenburg of Annapolis, Md.; and several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fuqua was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Strickenburg; and a nephew, Robert J. Wessell. Pete Forrest M. McIver Pete Forrest M. McIver, 67, of 34709 Crowther Road, Titusville, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at his residence. Born Sept. 2, 1937, in Titusville, he was the son of the late Clyde and Vera Tracy McIver. He attended Titusville Area Schools. Mr. McIver was employed by Carpenters Union No. 556 in Meadville for 36 years until his retirement in 2001. During those years, he also enjoyed working his farm, raising beef cattle and running his farm equipment. He also helped his son, Todd, as a relief driver with his milk truck for several years. He was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church. Mr. McIver also was a member of Titusville Lodge No. 754, F. & A.M., and the Valley of New Castle Consistory. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He was a sports enthusiast, a devoted Steelers fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and former driver Dale Ernhart and now son, Dale Ernhart Jr. He was the type of person who was there to lend a hand. Mr. McIver was married in Tryonville Aug. 17, 1957, to Evelyn Titus, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Mark and Loretta McIver of Townville and Todd and Ricki McIver of Titusville; and two grandchildren, Shawn and Erikka McIver of Titusville. He also is survived by two brothers and their wives, Howard and Janet McIver of Southgate, Mich., and Clyde and Ruby McIver of Churchill, Tenn.; three sisters, Helen Vandervort and Audrey Acel and husband, Sam, all of Titusville, and Ruth Stephens and husband, George, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mr. McIver was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell McIver; and three sisters, Nora McIver, Claire Scallion and Virginia Beach. Johan Michiel "John" Pfauth Johan Michiel "John" Pfauth, 80, of Philadelphia, formerly of West Hickory, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, in Philadelphia after an extended illness. Born March 16, 1924, in Bodegraven, the Netherlands, he was the son of Johan and Agnitha van Binsbergen Pfauth. Mr. Pfauth was active in the Dutch Resistance during World War II. He and his wife, Elly Christine Boon Pfauth, moved to the United States in 1955. They were married in 1951 and his wife died Nov. 6, 1999. Together they owned Compass Development Inc. and Professional Realty Co. of Tionesta. Mr. Pfauth earned his real estate broker's license in 1991. He was active with the Presbyterian Church in several communities and was a member and elder at Tionesta Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Leana M. Piller of Philadelphia, whom he married in 2002; a son, Robert C. Pfauth of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Judith E. van Baarlen, Amstelveen, the Netherlands; and two granddaughters. Scott Schafer, 69, of Monroeville, formerly of the Emlenton area, sister of Ernestine "Scotty" Wade of Seneca and wife of Samuel W. Schafer, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, in Monroeville. Francis P. Summerville Francis P. Summerville, 88, of 66 Brookside Lane, Brookville, formerly of Clarion, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. He was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Fisher, Clarion County. Mr. Summerville was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving with the 331st QM Depot Supply Co. He saw duty in Naples and Foggia, Sicily, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe theaters. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with six Bronze Stars. He was employed as crew chief for 40 years at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion. He was a member of the Glass Bottle Blowers Association, Local No. 246 of Clarion. Mr. Summerville was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church. He also held membership in the American Legion Post No. 0066 in Clarion and the Roy Calvin McGinnis Post VFW of Parker. Mr. Summerville was married in Rimersburg Dec. 16, 1946, to Lyddie R. Ramsey, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Judy Greeley of Brookville; four grandchildren, Margaret Kay Greeley, Tracy Lynn Finnefrock, Bradley James Greeley and Terry Joel Greeley; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Summerville was preceded in death by a half brother. Private services were held with the Rev. Thomas J. Parlette officiating. Interment was in Brookville Cemetery. Teresa Vernesoni Teresa Vernesoni, 86, of Seminole, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 15, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Saint Peters, Mo.
