Glosser, getting it right Max C. Griffith Max C. Griffith, 73, of 207 E. Scribher Ave., DuBois, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at his residence after a brief illness. Born July 13, 1931, in DuBois, he was the son of Thomas J. and Eva Hayes Griffith. He was a 1949 graduate of DuBois Area High School and attended DuBois Business College. Mr. Griffith served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953. He was a lifelong resident of DuBois and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Griffith formerly was employed by Baltimore Life Insurance Co. and presently was employed in sales by Newton Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Olympic Club, Eagles Club and the I.P.&S Club of DuBois. Mr. Griffith was an avid sports fan and reader, loved to travel and enjoyed time with family and friends. He was married Dec. 28, 1950, to Grace Hockin, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Griffith of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Jill) Homan of Marchand and Mrs. Tom (Judy) Young of Williamsport; three grandsons and one granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; five brothers; and four sisters. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and until the time of services Wednesday in the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc, 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel with the Revs. Chris and Pat Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois. Thomas Russell McGreevy Thomas Russell McGreevy Sr., 76, of Paddock Lake, Wis., formerly of Oil City, a former printer at the Oil City Derrick, brother of Rita Lee of Oil City and Joseph McGreevy of Venus, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in Alterra Clare Ridge in Kenosha, Wis. Bertha Mae-Gibson Strickenburg Bertha Mae-Gibson Strickenburg, 81, formerly of Rocky Grove, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at her home in Fredericksburg, Va. She was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. Mrs. Strickenburg is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jim Weyand of Springfield, Va.; a son, Glenn Strickenburg of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Tina Spears and her husband, Heath, Renee Weyand and Tim Weyand; and five great-grandchildren, Steven, Zachary, Heather, Bradley and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair F. Strickenburg; and her parents, Charles and Leafy Gibson. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Memorial Park. Harry Thomas Zellefrow Harry Thomas Zellefrow, 65, of 500 Harris St., Sharon, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at his residence. Born May 9, 1939, in Kittanning, he was the son of Walter and Goldie Redick Zellefrow. Mr. Zellefrow retired in 1993 from Sharon Steel where he was an analyst in the chemical lab for more than 25 years. He also was a tow motor operator for many years for Graham Stamping. His memberships included Monday Night Bowling League at Sunset Lanes. His love for the outdoors could be seen through such activities as hunting, fishing, golf and softball. Mr. Zellefrow was married Aug. 19, 1961, to Maria Ann Bulick, who survives. They just celebrated 43 years of marriage. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Mary Ann Summerville and husband, Al, of Burghill, Ohio, Theresa Marie Mohney and her fiancee, Joseph Novak of Hubbard, Ohio, Sherry Mae Clark and her fiancee, Michael Josa, and Tammy Lynn Porterfield and husband, James, all of Sharon; eight grandchildren, Michael Zellefrow, Megan Murray, Russell Mohney II, Jimmy Porterfield, Zachary Porterfield, Vanessa Summerville and Shawn and Michelle Josa, of whom Mr. Zellefrow had great involvement in their upbringing; and two great-grandchildren, Alex Zellefrow and Michael Zellefrow; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by two brothers, Wendell Zellefrow of Sharon and Keith Zellefrow of Rimersburg; and four sisters, Lorena Fortner and husband, Archie, of Emlenton and Catherine Summerville, Jeanine Zellefrow and Debbie Zellefrow, all of Rimersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Alexandra Maria Porterfield; one brother, Bobby Zellefrow; and one sister, Goldie Zellefrow. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Madasz Funeral Home, 6923 Warren-Sharon Road, Brookfield, Ohio.
