    3. The Derrick, Saturday, September 25, 2004: Martha A. "Sue" Carll, Tionesta Sarah Catherine "Kate" Lewis, Tucson, Ariz. Cheryl Lynn Peterson, Cooperstown Alice Juliene Parker, getting it right Martha A. 'Sue' Carll Martha A. "Sue" Carll, 80, of Tionesta, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Snyder Memorial Health Care in Marienville. Born Nov. 21, 1923, in Tidioute, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Martha A. Byers Atkin. Mrs. Carll was a member of Tionesta United Methodist Church and was active throughout her life in many committees. She was past treasurer of both the Robert Sharrow VFW of Tionesta and the Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Carll was employed by the Forest County Sports Center for 15 years and was the tax collector in Tionesta Township for 34 years. She also was a member of the Tionesta Women's Club. She was married June 30, 1944, in Tidioute to Gilbert W. "Gibby" Carll, who preceded her in death July 29, 1979. Surviving are a son, Larry W. Carll and his wife, Becky, of Tionesta; two grandsons, Michael W. Carll and his wife, Keri, of Oil City, and Timothy T. Carll and his wife, Jennifer, of Fagundas, Harmony Township, Forest County; three great-grandsons; one brother, Ralph Atkin and his wife, Margaret, of Erie; one sister, Monah Flasher and her husband, Bernie, of Tidioute; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carll was preceded in death by six brothers, Ben, John, Bill, Tim, Bob and Mike; and six sisters, June Young, Edna Acks, Anne Kincaid, Esther Yeager, Edith Atkin and Julia Atkin. There were seven other siblings who died at infancy. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home, Tionesta. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas A. Topar, pastor of Tionesta United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place at Starr Cemetery, Kingsley Township, Forest County. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tionesta United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice. Sarah Catherine 'Kate' Lewis Sarah Catherine "Kate" Lewis, 88, of Tucson, Ariz., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Tucson Medical Center. Born March 13, 1916, in Seneca, she was a daughter of Charles D. and Jennie M. Craig. Mrs. Lewis taught first grade for 42 years at Sage Run Elementary in Cranberry Township, Plumer Elementary in Cornplanter Township and Robison Elementary in Tucson. Surviving are a son, Timothy Lewis of Tucson; a daughter, Linda Blue Hesik of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Craig of Amherst, Ohio, and William Craig of Quincy, Ill.; four sisters, Evelyn West of Grove City, Ruth Craig of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Betty Hennis of Douglas City, Calif., and Marilyn Brandon of Cranberry; an aunt, Theda Kenemuth of Fern; and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Craig; a sister, Doris Imogene Jennings; and a nephew, John West Jr. Interment was in Tuscon. Cheryl Lynn Peterson Cheryl Lynn Peterson, 45, of 126 Edgewood Drive, Cooperstown, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at her residence. Born July 27, 1959, in Chesterfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Dorothy Bruno and Berlin Shields. She was a graduate of Geouga High School, the Venango County Area Vo-Tech nursing program and Clarion University. Mrs. Peterson worked as a licensed practical nurse at Sugar Creek Station. She was a member of the Brainard, Minn., VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 1647. Mrs. Peterson enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and painting ceramics. She loved working with the elderly and spending time with her family and friends. She was married July 25, 1988, to Richard A. Peterson, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Adam A. Peterson, and wife, Kristen, of Oil City, Brian L. Krepp, and wife, Amanda, of Cooperstown, Shelly Streed, and husband, Scott, of Baxter, Minn., and Angie and Amber Peterson of Covington, Wash.; five grandchildren, Aidan Lee Krepp of Cooperstown, Landon Arthur Peterson and Leigha Marie Peterson, both of Oil City, and Jaden Allen Streed and Anna Jane Streed, both of Baxter; a brother, Robert Shields of St. Paul, Minn.; and a sister, Audrey Wieland, and husband, William, of Chesterfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Charles Krepp. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., Franklin. Services will be held at noon Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Roberts of Oakland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Peterson family, in care of the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin, 16323.
