    3. The Derrick, December 7, 2007: Helen M. Daly, Limestone Township, Clarion County Marilyn P. Gibbons, Virginia Beach, Va. John J. MacKinlay Jr., West Wood Drive, Clarion Helen M. Daly, 85, of Kemmer Road, Limestone Township, Clarion County, died Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 2007, in her residence. Born May 25, 1922, in Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Robert and Carrie Bish Young Mrs. Daly was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, croqueting and her grandchildren. Mrs. Daly was married June 19, 1943, to Joseph Daly, who died in 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Rose Scholl and husband, Thomas, of Limestone Township and Frances Crate and husband, Bernard, of Limestone Township; four sons, John Daly and Mae Zimmerman of Allentown, Russell Daly of Limestone Township; Bernard Daly and Lola Champion of Strattanville and Charles Daly and wife, Beverly, of Limestone Township; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three brothers, Russell Young and wife, Virgie, of Franklin, Emery Young and Harry Young, both of Strattanville; one sister, Frances Hollobaugh and husband, Richard, of New Bethlehem; one sister-in-law, Prudy Young of Corsica; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Daly was preceded in death by one son, William Daly; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Daly; and three brothers, Robert, William and Hilton Young Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Young of Clarion, nephew of Mrs. Daly and pastor of the Williamsburg Community Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Crates. Memorials may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA, Knox, 16232. Marilyn P. Gibbons Marilyn P. Gibbons, 77, of 4224 Westchester Circle, Virginia Beach, Va., wife Thomas Gibbons, formerly of Franklin, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in her residence. John J. MacKinlay Jr., 76, of West Wood Drive, Clarion, a longtime businessman in Clarion, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in Clarion Hospital. Born April 22, 1931, in Rimersburg, he was the only child of John J. MacKinlay Sr. and Eileen Carr MacKinlay. Mr. MacKinlay was a 1949 graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg. He was a veteran of the Army for two years with one tour of duty in Korea. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. MacKinlay owned and operated MacKinlay's Station in Clarion for more than 30 years. He then sold the business to Goss Brothers and worked another 12 years for them before his retirement. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Clarion and also was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, both of Clarion. Mr. MacKinlay enjoyed playing golf, cards and bingo, watching any type of sports, yard work and his dog, Echo. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He was married Aug. 25, 1958, to the former Mary Jane Swartzfager, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mary E Seidle Hoffman and husband, Ralph, of Clarion, Rose Logue Balough and husband, Robert, of Clarion and Rebecca Eismont and husband, John, of Oil City; two sons, David MacKinlay of Clarion and Michael L. MacKinlay and wife, Karen, of Sewickley; seven grandchildren, Sara Seidle Patton and husband, Michael, of Clarion, Ann Seidle of Vale, Colo., Jay Seidle of Clarion, Christie and Emily Logue of Clarion, Megan Eismont of Oil City and Logan Michael MacKinlay of Sewickley; stepgrandchildren, Alyssa Hoffman of Wellsborough, Sarah Taube and husband, Andrew, of Pittsburgh and Andrew, Steve and Joe Balough of Clarion; and one step-great-granddaughter, Anna Rose Taube of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, Mr. MacKinlay was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Kathleen MacKinlay in 1959 and a son, John Lloyd MacKinlay in 1991. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, Clarion. A wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m. today in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, Clarion, presiding. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Clarion American Legion Post No. 66. Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, Main Street, Clarion, 16214, or to the Clarion Food Bank.
