    3. The Derrick, December 18, 2007: Robert Raymond Elliott, Chestnut Street, Clarion Rita Ann Groff, Dayton, Pa. Mary Margaret Hartzell, Marble Mary M. Wilson, 7 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City Rea funeral scheduled in church Robert Raymond Elliott Robert Raymond Elliott, 83, of Chestnut Street, Clarion, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in McKinley Health Care, Brookville. Born Aug. 14, 1924, in Clarion, he was the son of Robert W. and Bessie Kerr Elliott. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Mr. Elliott ran the James Elliott Esso Station for nine years and worked for the Pennsylvania American Water Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion and the IOOF Lodge No. 252 in Clarion. Mr. Elliott enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was married Sept. 30, 1949, to Mary Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert F. Elliott of Clarion and Richard E. Elliott and wife, Cindy, of Venus; one granddaughter, Amy Lynn Whitney, and one grandson, Robert James Elliott. He also is survived by one brother, Edward J. Elliott and wife, Dorothy, of Shippenville; and one sister and her husband, Lida and James Schwabenbauer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by a brother, John Elliott; and two sisters, Naomi Hetrick and Patricia Wolbert. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Goble Funeral Home & Crematory in Clarion is in charge of arrangements. Rita Ann Groff, 76, of Dayton, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Born June 22, 1931, in Dayton, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Jennings and Eleanor Lewis Enterline. Mrs. Groff worked as a cashier in the cafeteria at the Dayton High School for many years. She was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir ad also was a staff member with DCCC's. Mrs. Groff was very actively involved with the Democratic party. She loved to go shopping and was an expert bargain hunter. Mrs. Groff was married Aug. 30, 1948, to Clyde A. Groff, who survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Susan Scaife and husband, Bill, and JoEllen Stockdale and husband, Denny, all of Dayton; Amy Pepple and husband, Lee, of Punxsutawney; Karen Williams and husband, Steve, of Fairmount City; Kathy Row and husband, Ed, of Frankfort, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Wendy, Kim, Curt, Kayla, Madison, Mallory and Lindsey; and four great-grandchildren, McCaffery "Mac," Morwenn, Rylee and Cole. She also is survived by one sister, Mae Fetsko of Rochester, N.Y. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Marts; and two brothers, Elder Enterline and Lee Enterline. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main St., Dayton, Pa. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Dayton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Howard officiating. Interment will be in the Emory Chapel Cemetery, Wayne Township, Armstrong County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton United Methodist Church. Send an online condolence to www.bauer-bly.com. Mary Margaret Hartzell, 87, of Marble, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Shippenville. Prior to that, she had resided at Highland Oaks for six years. Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Millerstown, Elk Township, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Margaret Steiner Hartle. Mrs. Hartzell resided in the Marble area all her life, was a housewife and mother to several foster children, and was employed as a cook at various restaurants including The Washington House, Rheas and The Clarion Restaurant. She was married May 16, 1942, to Norman Hartzell, who died Dec. 6, 2001. She and her husband owned and operated Hollow Dwellers Camp Ground for many years. She had many interests and friends and enjoyed playing the violin. Mrs. Hartzell was a member of St. Michael Church, Fryburg, and the Rosary Society of the church. Surviving are one sister, Katherine Aaron of Shippenville; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael Church, Fryburg, with the Rev. David Poulson, pastor, presiding. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Fryburg. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Michael Church or to The Golden Living Center, Shippenville. Mary M. Wilson, 85, of 7 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, December 16, 2007, in her home. Born April 23, 1922, in Forest County, she was a daughter of Howard H. and Minnie Clifton Hillard. Her mother died when she was an infant and she was raised by her grandparents, Hobart and Myrtle Hillard of East Hickory. Mrs. Wilson was a 1942 graduate of Endeavor High School. She worked for 18 years at Lincoln School Cafeteria. Mrs. Wilson was an active member of the First Church of God in Oil City for more than 65 years. She enjoyed the "Seniors" group and the "Out-to-Lunch Bunch" activities at the church. On Dec. 11, 1942, she married Howard L. "Bucky" Wilson in the First Church of God in Oil City. He preceded her in death June 26, 1986. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dale H. and Kathy Wilson of Oil City, formerly of Franklin; three grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Holli Wilson, Scott and Sheila Wilson and Wendy and Clay Frank, all of Fishers, Ind.; and the love of her life, six great-grandsons, Cameron and Blake Wilson, Grant and Seth Wilson and Jacob and Brendan Frank, all of Fishers, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Church of God in Oil City. A Celebration of her life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Brenda Snedden, senior pastor of the church, and the Rev. Vernon Allison, director of the Church of God Ministries in Western Pennsylvania, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Church of God, 11 E. Eighth St., Oil City, or to a charity of one's choice. Rea funeral scheduled in church Funeral services for William Arthur Rea, 93, of Seventh Avenue, Clarion, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church, Wood Street, Clarion. The services were originally scheduled in the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, Clarion. Mr. Rea died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in his home. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
