The Derrick, December 8, 2007: David C. Fink David C. Fink, 55, of Columbus, Ohio, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. Mr. Fink was a graduate Dubois High School, class of 1970, and Penn State University, class of 1976. He was working on his masters at University of Michigan. Mr. Fink was an employee of Defense Supply Contractor Center with more than 30 years of service. He is survived by life partner and soul mate Sherri; a daughter, Amanda Peters and her husband Dave; a son, Jason Fink; six grandchildren, Gene, Austin, Kaitlyn, Mason, Kendrick and Josef; his mother, Lillian Stahlman; a sister, Phyllis Bathurst and her husband Luther; two brothers, James Fink and John Fink; a brother-in-law, Timothy Eggert; several nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mr. Fink was preceded in death by his father, James Calvin Fink II; his step-father, Fredrick Boyd Stahlman; and a sister, Beverly Eileen Eggert. "Peg" Shaffer, 83, of Golden Living Center, Shippenville, and formerly of Colts Foot Road, Emlenton, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Golden Living Center following an extended illness. Born at Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, on Dec. 4, 1924, she was the daughter of Nixon Wolford and Evelyn Shoup Wolford. Mrs. Shaffer attended Lovell Public School in Scrubgrass Township and she graduated from Emlenton High School. She was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a member of the Rankin Chapel United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ for the services. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the Rankin Chapel United Methodist women's group and the Scrubgrass Senior Citizens in Lisbon. She was a former member of the A.A.R.P. of Clintonville. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed gardening and flowers and most of all, her family. Mrs. Shaffer was married to Oliver L. Shaffer in 1956 and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2003. Among her survivors are seven children, Robert C. Aiken and his wife Ann L. of Colts Foot Road, Emlenton, Dave Bishop and his wife Jean of Pittsburgh, Morris "Pic" Vanistendael of St. Petersburg, Frederick Vanistendael and his wife Patricia of Harrisville, Gary Vanistendael of Clintonville, Douglas O. Shaffer and his wife Gina of Kennerdell and Terry L. Shaffer and his wife Shelly R. of Harrisville. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Ryan, Deriek, Hayley, Ashley and Lynnsey Shaffer, Tammy Roberts and her husband Rob, Robin Aiken, Patty Thompson and her husband Dale, Erin and David Bishop, Matthew Liester, Verick and Chris Vanistendael, Bobby Redfoot; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Samuel G. "Florence" McMillen and Mrs. Robert "Esther" Wickerly, of Parker. Simpson, 90, of 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at Sugarcreek Station. Born May 21, 1917, in Wentling Corners, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Elizabeth E. Anderson Alt. Mrs. Simpson was retired as a clerk from the W. T. Grant Store in Oil City. She was a life member of the VFW auxiliary and a former Girl Scout leader. She loved watching NASCAR and football on television and loved animals. Mrs. Simpson was married Jan. 21, 1950, to Harry G. Simpson, who preceded her in death. Also surviving are three children, Elizabeth Keefer and Marilyn Sipe of Franklin and a step-daughter, Lucy Shott; two grandchildren, James Sipe and Penny Cornell and her husband Chip, all of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Cornell Anthony and her husband Eric and David Michael Collins. She is also survived by two brothers, Earl E. Alt and his wife Betty and Ralph L. Alt and his wife Dorothy; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Alt, all of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William M. Alt; and grandson, David Sipe. Vogan, 60, of Port Allegany, and formerly of Seneca, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. He was born March 2, 1947, in Oil City, a son of Homer L. and Joyce L. Scriven Vogan. Mr. Vogan was a 1965 graduate of Cranberry High School. He worked as a mould maker for Oil City Glass and St. Gobain. Mr. Vogan was assistant scoutmaster for Troop 560 of Port Allegany. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and received the God and Country Award as a scout at Good Hope Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Oil City and the Lions Club of Port Allegany. Mr. Vogan was a Pierce Federal Credit Union board member and loan officer. He loved to fish, hunt and camp with his family On Nov. 6, 1971, in Polk, he married Sarah "Sally" L. Keely, who survives. In addition to his wife, and his mother of Seneca, he is survived by two daughters, Kelly L.(Robert) Tarbox of Port Allegany, and Crystal D.(Denna Millin) Vogan of Oil City; two sons, David E.(Christa Sturdevant) Vogan of Port Allegany, and Shaun D.(Carley) Vogan of Owosso, MI; two sisters, Sharon (Samuel) McDowell of Rockland and Melodye (Thomas) Neely of Seneca; and one brother, Daniel (Marsha) Vogan of Seneca. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Shia Vogan, Alix Brown-Vogan, Shelby Vogan, Laini Vogan, Keely Tarbox, and Shaun Vogan, Jr. Mr. Vogan was preceded in death by his father.
