Bauer, 81, of Tylersburg, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at UPMC, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 18, 1926, at Lucinda, he was the son of the late Florian and Cora Schmader Bauer. Mr. Bauer served with the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He worked for many years as a truck mechanic in the area. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown. He also was a founding member of Farmington Township Ambulance Service and was a member of the Veteran's Club of Forest County. In the past he enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling. Mr. Bauer was married to Loretta Keverline on Feb. 8, 1951, and she preceded him in death in 1962. Mr. Bauer is survived by the following children: Cheryl Kohlmeyer and her husband, James of Greenville; Kathleen Miller of Burlington, N.C.; Jeanie Franke and her husband, Dennis of Cabot; Joan Lander and her husband, Timothy of Lucinda; Mark Bauer and his wife, Tina of Clarion; Mary Jo Bauer of Virginia Beach, Va.; Lori Kahle and her husband, Carl of Crown; Marcia Moore and her husband, Michael of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Andrew Bauer and his wife, Marcy of Vowinckel. He is also survived by a sister, Marcella (Betz) Hook and her husband, Ivan of Kno;x and a brother, Cletus Bauer and his wife, Jean, of Florida; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Raymond, Ernest, Harold and Joseph Bauer; one sister, Bernice (Blondie) Crise; and a grandson, Cory Alan Lander. Box 31, Leeper, 16233. Eugene J. Dickert Sr. Eugene J. Dickert Sr., 86, of 103 13th St., Franklin and formerly of 55 Adams St., died at 4:54 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, in UPMC Northwest Seneca. Born Sept. 8, 1921, in Franklin, he was the son of Frank E. and Nellie C. Tincler Dickert. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1939. Mr. Dickert was a sergeant with the U.S. Army 104th Timberwolf Infantry Unit during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the European Theater of Operations. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was well-known as an agent for the Western and Southern Insurance Agency for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Mr. Dickert was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Rocky Grove. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Family was the most important part of his life. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby K. Finch, whom he married Aug. 23, 1942. Also surviving are two sons, Eugene Dickert Jr. and his wife Cushie of Latrobe, Francis F. "Tanny" Dickert and his wife Carol of Franklin; a daughter, Sue Ellen Russell and her husband Bruce of Slippery Rock; seven grandchildren, Stacy Dickert-Conlin and her husband Mike of East Lansing, Ohio, Julie Jones and her husband Ken of Greensburg, Kim Dickert-Wallace and her husband Patrick of Ligonier, Holly Dickert-Leonard and her husband Ethan of Cleveland, Heather Boyles and her husband Randy of Las Vegas, Ryan Russell and his wife Marcy of Hanoi, Vietnam, Regan Mooney and her husband Drew of East Butler; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Dickert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Carson and Ruth E. Knight, 78, formerly of Washington Avenue, Oil City, died at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at the VA Medical Center, John Cochran Division, St. Louis, Mo. Born Oct. 2, 1929, in Cookeville, Tenn., he was the son of James H. and Dillie V. Neal Knight. Mr. Knight was a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School. He also graduated from Welch Business College in 1950. He had lived in Oil City for more than 40 years and moved to Berlin, N.H., in 1992 to be closer to his wife's family. He moved in to Belleville, Ill., in November 2006 to live with his eldest daughter Patricia and her family. During high school, he had worked at Isaly's Dairy Store, Magdovitz Beverage Co., Manion Steel Barrel and the Brown Company in Berlin, N.H. After high school, he started a job with the S.S. Kresge Co. in Oil City and worked as a stockman for 31 years. He also held the positions of office cashier and manager until the store closing. He was transferred to Kmart in Reno where he worked until his retirement in January 1992, after more than 40 years with the company. While in Oil City, he was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Holy Name Society. He also served as a collection counter and co-chairman of the annual festival for many years. He was an active member and altar serve at the Guardian Angel Parish in Berlin, N.H., and a member of St. Henry Roman Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Mr. Knight was a Red Cross first aid instructor for 15 years, a member of the Oil City auxiliary police association for 25 years, and a member of the Ostomy Association for 15 years. At an early age, he was active in Boy Scouts and remained active for 31 years as a patrol leader, quartermaster, assistant scoutmaster, scoutmaster of Troop 4 in Oil City and a neighborhood commissioner. He received the Order of Merit, Scouts Key and was a member of the Order of the Arrow and a merit badge counselor. He served in the U.S. Army for a brief time in 1948. Mr. Knight was married June 29, 1951, to the former Anita F. Fortin and she preceded him in death Dec. 5, 2000. He is survived by three sons, Thomas R. Knight, James L. Knight and David J. Knight, all of Oil City; three daughters, Patricia Diggs and her husband Gary of Belleville, Ill., Doris Bosley and her husband Larry of Atlanta, and Kathy Knight and her fianc, Don Bouchard of Berlin, N.H.; 12 grandchildren, Traci Dearment, Thomas Knight Jr., Leann Knight, Tamika and Olivia Diggs, Gerald Knight, Anita Bosley, Kayla, Jonathan, Wezley and Zachary Knight, and Travis Roy; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Stahlman. Also surviving are two sisters, Josie Knight of Oil City and Elva Fink and her husband Bernard of Centerville; a brother, Edwin H. Knight and his wife Alice of Salem, Ohio; and several aunts, nieces and nephews. Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Stephen K. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Beverly L. Leibert Beverly L. Leibert, 79, of Franklin Avenue, Brookville, died Dec. 25, 2007, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville. She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Butler. Mrs. Leibert was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and doing needlepoint. She was married Sept. 16, 1949, to Charles E. Leibert, who preceded her in death July 31, 2001. Mrs. Leibert is survived by a son, Carey L. Leibert and his wife Tammy of Marienville; two granddaughters, Sheri Hannold and her husband Nick, and Valerie Leibert; and a great-granddaughter, Madalynne Hannold. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Township, Jefferson County. Eugene L. McClellan, 85, of 7 Vo Tech Dr, Oil City, died at 9:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, in his residence. Born June 22, 1922, in Oil City, he was a son of Frank Leroy and Carrie Johnston McClellan. Mr. McClellan was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He first worked at Grant's, then National Transit, Worthington and retired in 1984 from Oilwell Supply where he was a core maker. Mr. McClellan was a member of the Oil City Moose, the Oil City Eagles, the Oil City VFW and the Pulaski Club. He enjoyed golf, bowling, shuffle board, pool and casino trips. On Feb. 14, 1946, he married the former Nadine L. Weeter, and she preceded him on Dec. 13, 1997. Surviving are four children, David L. McClellan, Karen L. Spence, Bruce A. McClellan and wife Linda, and Thomas C. McClellan and wife Helen, all of Oil City; seven grandchildren, Cindy, Kelly, Steve, Teresa, Brian, Julia and Scott; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, James McClellan and wife Reva of Oil City, Melvin "Bob" McClellan and wife Mary Jane of Titusville and John McClellan and wife Sandy of President; a sister, Mary Lou Strance and husband Charles of Surprise, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews. John F. Midcap Jr. John F. Midcap Jr., 55, of 7318 Schreck Rd. Meadville, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at his residence after a 14-month illness. Born Oct. 8, 1952, in New Brighton, he was the son of John F. and Lottie Mae Moffett Midcap. Mr. Midcap was a 1970 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and New Castle Business College. He was employed at Joy Mining in Franklin since 1976 in various jobs, most recently as a burning machine operator. Mr. Midcap attended the Cochranton Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was the past president of the Cochranton Little League. He was also a avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Midcap was married Nov. 4, 1972, to the former Barbara A. Woolstrum and she survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Evan Midcap of Meadville, Michelle C. Ault and her husband Lester E. IV of Cochranton and Timothy P. Midcap and his wife Sharyn of Meadville; his father, John F. Midcap of Harmony; and his maternal grandmother Dorothy Jane Moffett of Chicora. Also surviving are four sisters, Carolyn Marsico and her husband Peter of Slippery Rock, Linda Sue Kowalayk and her husband Frank of Boyers, Joyce Fritsche and her husband Scott of Elwood City, and Barbara Dunn and her husband Perry of York, S.C.; a brother William C. Midcap and his companion Carla of Harmony; and four grandsons Lee Ault, Allen Midcap, and Samuel and Seth Ault. Newhouse, Jr., 77, of 47 South Main St., Brookville, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 7, 1930, in Corsica, he was the son of Paul B. Newhouse Sr., and Tillie Matilda Lechner Newhouse. Mr. Newhouse was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict as a corporal with Artillery Battery B, 229th FA Btn., 28th Infantry Division in Germany. He was also a member of the National Guard. Mr. Newhouse worked for Alltel Telephone Co. as a dispatcher and later at DeMans in Brookville as a clerk. He was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church and Hobah Lodge #276 F&AM in Brookville, 32nd degree, Coudersport Consistory. Mr. Newhouse was a musician and played the accordion for more than 10 years. He was married Aug. 10, 1952, in Brookville, to the former Florence M. Fox, who preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2007. Mr. Newhouse is survived by a daughter, Kelly L. Alter of Brookville; a son, Scott L. Newhouse of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Joleen Holben, Keilen Dehner and Christopher Diaz-Peden; and two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Holben and Brenna Dehner. Sharrow, 73, of Marienville, died at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Brookville Hospital. She was born July 25, 1934, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of Hughie Graham and Rose Bancroft Graham. She worked for many years at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville. She is survived by four sons, Rodney Bowen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Randy Bowen of Brownstown, Mich., Russell Bowen of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rick Bowen of Huntington, W.V.; a daughter, Rhonda Sharrow of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Interment will be in North Forest Cemetery. Doris Mae Swasta, 79, of Franklin, died at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born April 7, 1928, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha Matha Stone. She attended Oil City Schools. She had worked at Venturella's Golden Dawn Market in Siverly for many years and at Heaths Market. Mrs. Swasta was married on Nov. 20, 1948, to Walter G. Swasta in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2006. Her husband was a roofing contractor. In the off season during the winter months, the couple loved to travel out west with his parents visiting such places as Death Valley and Las Vegas. Her survivors include four children and their spouses, Robert and Barbara Swasta of Franklin, William and Paula of St. Marys, Susan Swasta Peterson and her husband Gary of Vermont, Cindy Swasta Simpson and her husband Leo of Franklin; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Ruth Ramage DeWoody of Rocky Grove; a brother, Clyde Stone of California; and a sister-in-law, Marge Tarr of Oil City. She was preceded by a brother, Harold Stone; a sister, Mabel Stone Dale; a half-brother, Raymond Stone; two half-sisters, Hazel Stone Verner and Irene Stone Blair; a brother-in-law, Jack Tarr; and a nephew, Steve Tarr. Born Sept. 1, 1958, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late William Nelson Troxell and Dorothy L. Roberts Troxell. Miss Troxell was a 1976 graduate of Clarion Area High School. For several years she was employed by Beverly Healthcare as a nurse's assistant. She was in her third year of nursing school at the time of her death after having received her associate degree in nursing from Clarion University, Venango Campus. She had a special concern and affection for the elderly and was looking forward to a career in nursing. Miss Troxell loved animals especially her two cats. She enjoyed her friends, reading, photography, Bible studies and walks in the country. She is survived by two aunts, Sara Ordiway of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Helen Troxell of Titusville; and an uncle, David Roberts of Billings, Mont.; a cousin Dr. Grant Ordiway, of Tullahoma who was a special help to her. Also surviving are several other relatives. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St. Clarion. Getting it right Richard Eugene Chadman, 81, of Lamartine, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Clarion Hospital. Among his survivors is a daughter-in-law, Kelly Chadman, wife of Ronald Chadman of Culpepper, Va. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Chadman, in 1994.
