Spangler, Strattanville Michael 'Mike' Callander Michael "Mike" Callander, 39, of Perry Township, Parker, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in United Community Hospital, Grove City, following an extended illness. Clair Fulmer Clair Fulmer, formerly of Marienville Star Route, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Jefferson Manor, Brookville. The Borland Funeral Home Inc. in Leeper is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Francis C. Guyda Francis C. Guyda, 87, formerly of 589 N. Seneca St., Oil City, died at 5:12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare-Oil City, following an extended illness. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Patricia Gail Kephart Patricia Gail Kephart, 70, of Strattanville, died Sunday evening, Dec. 19, 2004, at her home following a short illness. Born May 23, 1934, in DuBois, she was the daughter of Blaine "Pawkey" and Violet Sanberg Johnston of Johnston's Nursery in Penfield. Mrs. Kephart was born and raised in the Penfield area and had resided in Clymer for 10 years and lived in Strattanville for the past seven years. She attended the Clearfield schools. Mrs. Kephart was a member of the Home Camp Methodist Church in Rockton. She was very active with her children and grandchildren in their activities, including sports. Mrs. Kephart was married in Rock Island, Ill., Sept. 5, 1959, to Gerald "Jerry" Kephart, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Conley of Avon Park, Fla., and Angela Snowberger of Corsica; one son, Kevin Kephart of Strattanville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Karen Quick of Norway, Mich. Mrs. Kephart was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Home Camp Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Carlton D. White officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park in Clearfield. Edward James McClellan Sr. Edward James McClellan Sr., 51, of 141/2 Pearl Ave., Oil City, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 17, 2004. Amanda C. Stahlman McGinnis Amanda C. Stahlman McGinnis, 90, of Port Allegany, formerly of Emlenton, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004,in Lakeview Nursing Home, Smethport. The Hile Funeral Home Inc. of Emlenton is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Carl F. Rothen Jr. Carl F. Rothen Jr., 62, of Chestnut Street, Emlenton, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Amy Kaufman, following a short illness. Born March 14, 1942, in Bellevue, Allegheny County, he was the son of Carl F. and Katherine Perine Rothen. He was a member of the first graduating class of Knoch High School in 1960. Mr. Rothen was employed for a number of years by Orton Construction in Emlenton. He had been employed as a paramedic at Clarion Hospital and most recently was employed as a rural mail carrier in Emlenton by the United States Postal Service. He was a founding member of the Emlenton Area Ambulance Service. Mr. Rothen was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, where he had served as an eucharistic minister and lector and helped to serve church dinners. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed carpentry, cooking and the outdoors and greatly enjoyed helping others and the company of his grandchildren. He was a model train enthusiast. Mr. Rothen was married in St. Joseph Church in Cabot Oct. 6, 1962, to Mae Elser, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives; Neal C. and Margaret Rothen and Eric G. and Mary Rothen, all of Emlenton; two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Carla S.) Cratty of Connoquenessing and Mrs. Raymond (Amy) Kaufman of Parker; and 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Rebecca and Jordan Cratty of Connoquenessing, Kevin, Danielle and Emily Kaufman of Parker; and Erika, Justin and Kiersten Rothen of Emlenton. He also is survived by two brothers, Robert Rothen of Ridge Manor, Fla., and Fred Rothen of Bessemer; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Hile Funeral Home Inc, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Members of the Altar-Rosary Society of St. Michael Church will recite the rosary at 6:45 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, with Msgr. Conrad Kraus presiding. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Emlenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Center Ave., Pittsburgh, 15232. Connie M. Spangler Connie M. Spangler, 72, of Carney Road, Strattanville, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at her home. Born April 13, 1932, in Knox, she was the daughter of Grover C. and Hattie B. Campbell Ashbaugh. Mrs. Spangler retired from a glass plant in Atlanta, Ga. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards. Mrs. Spangler was married Aug. 16, 1963, to George E. Spangler, who died Jan. 2, 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Tammy E. Spangler and her companion, Jeffrey Best, of Knox and Tracy E. Johnston and husband, Andrew, of Strattanville; two stepdaughters, Nancy R. Lewis and husband, William, of Clarion and Betsy R. Neeley of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Justin F. Gabler, Kyle B. Gabler and Madelyne E. Johnston; 10 stepchildren; 26 step-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, John Ashbaugh and wife, Glenna, of Knox; and one sister, Daisy Ashbaugh of Knox. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Spangler was preceded in death by one brother, Charles D. Ashbaugh; one stepson, William E. Spangler; and one stepgrandson, Robert A. Lewis. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
